I, for one, was opposed to expanding the CFP to 12 teams. I thought that was four teams too many (and perhaps six too many).
But, among the positives of the new 12-team format: what are the chances of a mismatch comparable to last night ever happening again?
Doesn’t the new format in theory make it more likely that two heavyweights will meet in the title game?
I am confident of one thing: with the 12-team format and Ohio State likely to be part of it virtually every year (if not every year), younger Buckeyes fans will not have to wait 34 years between national championships as those of us of Social Security-eligible age did.
