This team is amazing. They lose close games to good teams (NC, Purdue) and bad teams (Minnesota, Nebraska) and they are super creative in finding new ways to lose these games. Just painful to watch and have become hard to root far. At least Zed was trying, some of the others - not so much.

True, but one of them is fighting a more important battle - so I'd say it's 17. We're typically at 15 or 16 and I strongly believe the staff has had hard conversations with a few where they need to be by the end of spring practice (assuming no one enters the portal today).
I'm not an OL expert but looking at the highlights, he moves his feet first quickly and stays in from of his man. I can't tell much about his ability to push and drive BIG linemen. Frye must think he is a better option than some in the two deep.
I agree on your 3 and the ability to bring in a DB or OT but I hope we don't have 5 to 7 more transfers as that could really impact the depth. We can't afford losing any DBs. I could see a WR, OL, and maybe an LB though.
I agree that the numbers will be worked out but the handy-dandy scholarship grid shows that 'plenty' may depend on its definition. Currently at 88 (with the other-OSU QB). Granted the list suggests that 85 shouldn't be a problem but I'm not sure that there are 'plenty' available. It's been funny to hear posters wanting to grab all these players from the portal and not understand the 85 limit. And to be sure, the scholarship grid is not always accurate. The X-man had a scholarship for nearly a year before it was announced and the grid updated.
Hmm, didn't I hear that he blocked a punt against those guys? :)
Holtman needs to grow a pair. If the refs are going to say the ball didn't hit the rim. Just pull the team off the court.
Devin Brown and Kienholz were the result of the dynamic changes in QB recruiting and most fans feel pretty good about their potential. So I'm not worried. OL, DL. DB on the other hand. I am happy to see more DL offers than usual.
Would have rather read an article from a certain replay official explaining why he redefined the targeting rule on the fly and why his supervisor is okay with that.
Not sure that having film on Devin Smith and Zeke would help much. Having a QB that could throw as far as Cardale and a world class high jumper on the other end put such stress on defenses that they could not be stopped. The blow out in the NC game came with 4! OSU turnovers.
I would like to see a Chip with X-man package. Multiple options available: Chip lead blocks for X, X lines up in backfield and then goes in motion with an RPO to hand off to Chip or pass, QB goes in motion with a wild cat snap to X.
BuckinNashville,
I've been struggling to figure out how to respond. I have been in your shoes and that is what I preached, but that was for an engineering environment where we sought the best solutions to problems. Diversity in thought was key. This is different than athletic teams where athleticism, coordination, speed of vision, etc are key. In this context, it's about having the best at there skills, regardless of any other qualifiers about the individual.
True, but how many millions did BiG schools lose during the Covid year - millions that can never be made up.
Agree, but I can't help wondering when I see the extensive school lists, are we late to the party?
I remember when he was recruited. The prevailing thought was he was going to be a star for us on AND off the field. Paris delivered big time. I hope he has a long, successful, and concussion-free career.
Where were the violins hiding? Backstage? Any idea what chords the guy was playing on his guitar-prop?
But, will he throw?
unless, you have Anthony Winfield. He was the most amazing CB we have ever seen - lock down corner and run stuffer. Unfortunately, we don't see that type of player very often.
Time will ultimately tell, but I am very excited about Matthews and Reese. I wonder if our recruiting strategy needs to shift a bit more toward the late risers. It seems like we lose the bidding war on the early 5 star guys that Bama and Georgia are after and are more successful with the players who shine during their senior year - these players won't usually end up with 5 stars but often are 5 star equivalent.
Given the WR depth and CB dearth, I wonder if any of these guys might/could play on the D-side.
So what is the defender's play here? It's in the end zone so tackling doesn't make sense BUT does it make sense, given that you're trying to protect players. to allow/condone a defender to launch themselves at the head neck area in an attempt to dislodge the ball? Doesn't make sense because if the receiver catches the ball and has a foot down in the end zone, the play should be over and it's a TD. It shouldn't't be a TD conditional on withstanding a blast for an opposing player.
To me, it sucks that MHJ's number is 49 and not 70.
I am delusioning that it's part of a tampering sting operation and he's wired up.
BTW, the Springs and Boulder are two different worlds.
just curious - if Khalil Mack had transferred from Buffalo, would you be saying, "Buffalo? Might as well be bringing in my great grandma?"
I appreciate his commitment to the program - I thought he might have a breakout year this year. Wouldn't be surprised if he plays for the state university of new jersey next year - he certainly knows the head coach there.
Might be time to look at how he falls again.
