You can get solid veterans on good deals, people who have won, you can trust and contribute to meaningful football in January. Young players need people to learn from. I’m not saying trade away every pick and forgo the draft every year but we don’t need more young players who blow assignments and don’t study the playbook. There’s a ton of young talent that doesn’t know what they’re doing. We need more professional football players.
If Gilbert could get Udoka to promise not to have sex with everyone’s wives (or maybe let him and make the job more attractive) that would be awesome. I love JBB but the roster outgrew him. A title window needs a title contending level coach. JBB is best suited for a frisky fringe playoff team and making them a 6th seed. There’s plenty of jobs out there for that type of team, serious title contention is a level too far for him.
The obvious answer is TOTALLYNOTPeneiSewell
I think it’s speculative because that’s predominately what Frye has run compared to Wilson who prefers outside zone. I don’t believe it’s been reported anywhere that’s what’s going to happen. Just connecting dots.
should’ve went more incognito and used SeneiPewell
Tiffin… even your RT agrees
It just feels like Zach Wilson all over again but he has a better attitude. Think the Jets want a redo and drafted Fields or even Jones over him?
Goff is a QB that everything around him needs to be right for him to win a super bowl. That will always handicap the Lions SB chances. The lions are doing a lot of things right but eventually they’ll need to upgrade the QB position to be a real threat to win the SB. Goff also allows for them to take a Stoud or Levi’s and have them sit a year and acclimate to the NFL. Think Alex Smith and Patrick Mahomes (not saying either is Mahomes but KC showed just a few years ago that even though they have a decent QB you need a dude under center to take the next step).
Derek Carr is getting released or traded by 2/15 which makes passing on a QB even more curious. Only way it makes sense is if they think they can sign Brady or trade for another veteran QB.
Browns really have no need for a bunch of rookies. For better or for worse they’re in win now mode. They need established veterans who know how to play professional football. The browns have plenty of young players and don’t have a year or two to figure it out.
I think he’s 1of 4 people who have the potential to be so good they force their way on the field for the defense (curry, hicks, stokes and brown) and that’s why I named them on the list. My take on curry is I think they’ll have Leo specific packages and he’s the Leo. Sawyer could play a little Leo but when Jack and JT are on the field together we’re going to see more traditional 4 man fronts. My basis for this is Days wants to be a CEO coach so if he’s more involved with the defense him and Knowles will be able to cook up some more exotic specialty packages.
Schwartz also said he can win with any type of LB although I agree JOK's bodytype probably isn't ideally what he's looking for. My meaningless 2 cents is the NFL is in nickel and dime so much as it is there will be a role for JOK even if he gets subbed out on bigger packages.
I think he's gone out and said that himself. I was just saying if that's really his last goal after he becomes the all time leading scorer he could, it just might take longer than that '24 season. Also good for him if it is because that'd be really cool for the James family.
Think it's ready for an off season thread?
Anyone thinking he'll be an NBA All-star will be disappointed but there's a place or Bronny in the NBA. Best case scenario is he's the first guard off the bench on a playoff caliber team. Probably ends up being a 15-20 min a night player who carves out a nice little career in the league for himself. He'll stick around because of his IQ, it might just be a bit of a journey to get there. The early 2000s Nova guards was a good comparison.
We can't let that man go at any cost
He's ranked 34 on 247 and a 4*. That might be a tad high and he's certainly not a 5* but he's a really solid player who knows how to play the game of basketball, play within the team and does a lot of things well. He's a top 50 player.
Interesting you had Hayden over both Henderson/Williams, Innis (presumably) in the slot, Hicks at the Leo and Stokes over Carter.
I would go:
LT: Jackson
LG: Tshebola
C: Cutler
RG: Jones
RT: Fryar
QB: McCord
RB: Henderson/Williams (I don't think it matters they're both RB1 in getting the same amount of touches)
WR: Harrison, Egbuka, Flemming (I liked your idea of Innis as the 3rd WR and could definitely see him taking over later in the season)
TE: Stover
DE: JT and Jack
DT: Hall, Williams
Leo: Curry
LB: Eichenburg and Chambers (Hicks subs in on obvious passing downs and really pushes Chambers for PT)
SAF: Carter, Ransom, Styles (Stokes plays a lot as the fourth safety. With the three starters I named I think there's a lot of versatility in being able to play multiple safety positions within the scheme allowing for different combinations of groupings)
CB: Burke, Hancock, Brown
KR: Kaleb Brown
PR: Xavier Johnson
Whoever buys it should strike a deal with Hulu so I can watch the games
My guess is he would've went to Duke had K still been there. As for the second point I'd assume he wants the college experience for a year and being big man on campus. He wouldn't get that in the G league.
Interesting idea. I'd sign up for being UK in that situation. I always thought if OSU/UM met in the playoff it'd be like UNC/DUKE meeting in the final four this past year.
Lebron can opt out the year Bronny is draft eligible (after next season I believe). Bronny would have to be a one and done which may or may not happen but the possibility for them to play one year together is there. Lebron could probably play 20 mins a night getting 15/5/5 for the next 6 years if he wanted to.
I've said it many times but I'll say it again: 6'3 combo guard who shoots very well, high IQ, plays defense and is a good distributor. That's not even including the off court attention he'd bring. Would take him here in a heartbeat if he wanted to come (even if it's unlikely).
