No offense taken, Woodyson!

"would you say that about a pedestrian who was struck by a driver looking at their phone?" In this instance, one is being temporarily careless. That is different than intentional action (posting pictures for money).

"would you say that about a an overweight kid who gets bullied at school?" Being overweight can be mostly genetic, mostly behavior, or somewhere in between. I don't believe anyone should be made fun of or bullied (in general but also) for their weight. Again, this is a far cry from making money online via suggestive images.

I'm aware that you're taking these examples beyond context but context is awfully important. I don't believe this young gymnast should be mistreated in any way for what she is posting or the way she promotes herself. I hope I've made that abundantly clear. But she's also not in the best business as far as attracting high-quality people. That's my main point. If she's seeking being treated or perceived in a wholesome way, she's in the wrong business.

As far as "lawfully doing something that isn't harming anyone else," I may be in the minority but I don't buy that pornographic/suggestive images are harmless in any way. This probably isn't the place to discuss this specific topic, but I am of the belief that A LOT of harm has been done and is being done by pornography. I'll leave it at that.

"Not being surprised about it and being okay with it or staying silent about it are completely different things."

I never asserted that she should be ok with inappropriate behavior directed her way. And I also never suggested that she should be ridiculed for speaking out against inappropriate behavior. But if she is essentially in the business of making money off of suggestive images of herself, then, like I said, she shouldn't be surprised that such images attract perverse individuals. It is the nature of the business. She's playing a game that is not risk-free and that does have real consequences. It sounds to me like she only wants the positive consequences, but she doesn't get to choose that. To be clear, her behavior does not justify the behavior of the "bad eggs", but it's a supply-demand game and she's a supplier. By choice.

"How you dress should have absolutely no impact on how you are treated. End stop."
Really? Ever showed up to a serious job interview in pajamas? Gone on a date in a wife beater and cut-off jean shorts? How you dress actually does matter and is a form of communication. What you wear (or don't) sends a message. You are right that an individual's dress does not justify being mistreated in any way. But that doesn't mean that dressing a certain way isn't more or less likely to attract the "right" kind of people. That may not be fair or right, but it is reality.

"If you wear a bikini to the beach it is not okay for someone to comment on your swimsuit in a creepy manner (and that is determined by the recipient of the comment, not the commenter)."

How is the commenter supposed to know what is creepy if it's based on the recipient's thoughts? Do they have to be able to read minds? What one might consider flattering, another might consider "violent speech" or something along those lines. There was a time where things like this seemed more clear-cut as far as what is or isn't appropriate, but it's gotten a lot more confusing as far as what offends people these days.

I was diagnosed with a cam lesion and a partially torn labrum too, back in 2018 (no mention of calcification, at least at that time). Thankfully, after a steroid shot and lots of rehab and being careful, my symptoms are mostly under control now. I don't do heavy lifting, but I do run a couple of times a week and can do bodyweight or very light weight leg exercises, mostly pain free (right knee is a different story haha).

Maybe you've already exhausted all of your other options, but if you haven't and before you do surgery, please check out Upright Health on youtube. They have an FAI fix program and lots of other great stuff. Many videos are free on Youtube but you have to pay for the programs. You may be a perfect candidate for surgery but if there's any way you can restore your function pain-free without it, that would be best. Surgery yields mixed results to put it nicely.

To be clear, I'm not trying to argue or suggest you don't need surgery. Maybe for you that's the only long-term solution. And if that's the case, I'm of no help. But just thought I'd offer up some info in case it proves beneficial.

Agree that others are responsible for their own behavior, but she should not be surprised if she attracts the wrong kind of attention if/when she posts images of herself than lend toward objectification. The idea that one should be able to dress, act or otherwise conduct themselves in any way they wish and have nothing but good consequences is silly. That's not how life works.

Right. You can't portray yourself in a way that lends itself to objectification and then demand that others view you through a different prism. Men are responsible for their thoughts and actions and women are too. You can choose your actions (posting half-naked pictures of yourself) but you don't get to decide how you're perceived by others.

NIL is a huge mess and I don't have a lot of confidence it's going to get cleaned up anytime soon. I don't have a lot of confidence in Congress (like ever) and frankly this isn't a high priority issue.

In the meantime, OSU needs to figure out if it's going to continue to do things by the book and risk losing recruiting battles indefinitely to schools that are out-bidding them or if they are going to play the game like others do.

“Ran several sub-11.00 100-meter times as a freshman, including a 10.70 and a 10.83 in Spring 2022. Also posted a 22.55 200.”

Wow.

I imagine TTUN’s pitch will be “you’ve been our top priority for a long time. We love mobile QB’s etc..” and Day’s pitch is probably “come and be developed by me. My track record with QB’s speaks for itself.”

Not sure if Day will be able to make up for the ground lost but objectively it would be wise for Davis to at least consider OSU. He’s not going to be developed better anywhere else except maybe USC.

We have really good RB’s but yea, I wouldn’t describe any as elite. At least not yet. Honestly, of the ones in the stable I think Hayden might be the next great one. He doesn’t dance around, has nice burst and just seems to know how to move the chains. Also plays bigger than his size. Henderson almost seems to play smaller than he is.

It will be interesting to see how things play out with Pryor but I don’t see him as an every down back. Great hands and like Henderson probably flashes in space but I don’t think he has the size or physicality to be a RB that can be leaned on for a whole game. Guess we’ll see!

Comment 19 Jan 2023

I love Henderson as much as anyone, but unless something changes, he’s not a Heisman-caliber back in my opinion. He is lethal in space but he’s not the kind of RB that can carry a team. I hope his best football is ahead of him though and that he can get and stay healthy. He’s talented, for sure, and certainly can be a major contributor.

Kam Davis is a beast. I don't know if we have any chance at all with him, but I hope Alford can work some magic there. Very curious to see how we do at RB this cycle, especially if Marshall goes elsewhere. Hope we can lock him up.

Are you referring to this quote? :

"What happened today in this stadium was magical. That’s what college football means to a lot of people. Not everybody, but to a lot of people," Day said. "That’s one of the reasons why college football is special. It’s one of the reasons why you coach – to see something like that happen. Hopefully there’s somebody else out there that’s going through tough times that can see that as a motivation to overcome."

I think he's just saying that for some people, college football is about genuine brotherhood. For others, it may be "win at all costs" and don't focus on culture or at least don't allow that kind of stuff to get in the way of the primary objective. I wonder how many programs would've allowed Babb to develop and contribute in the unique way that he did. I mean, Bama is known for processing players. Think they would've given him as many chances to succeed as OSU did? Or would he have been considered a dead weight?
