Right now, the consensus seems to be Young as the first pick. I can see that changing by draft day, easily, as the individual workouts happen. The arm strength and accuracy are CJ's advantage over Young, and these will stand out during drills. I see this as a replay of The Opening camp where Young will enter as the favorite, and CJ will finish as the number 1 guy.
Considering how seemingly every game in that 2002 season was a nailbiter, a cutaway from "Holy Buckeye" would have been worse, imho.
" Ohio State QB C J Stroud is more of a runner than a thrower." Stephen A Smith
Per Chase Winovich, this year's non conference schedule for Michigan is all a mirage,
It seemed like Tressel ran off Dave Kennedy in 2001. Kennedy was well respected and had many of the former players in the NFL coming back in the offseason to work out here. The impression that was out there at the time was that was a sore spot with Tressel, who preferred that Kennedy devote his time to the current players exclusively, rather than recognize what a recruiting plus this could be. He never really bothered to replace him with quality. He either used yes men, or individuals he was familiar with, no matter how unqualified.
This is a loss only in the psychological or pr effect. Gattis has been a bullshit artist ever since he arrived. The offense that he got so much credit for this year, is more of a reflection of Harbaugh than the "speed in space" crap Gattis has been spewing about.
I will be interested in seeing how long Christobal will put up with any underperformance by his offense that has become the norm for Gattis the coordinator.
What are the chances that he enrolls in the Nick Saban Coaching Rehabilitation Program?
but the week hype seems to tighten the shoe laces for both teams
i would hope so
On one series, the cameras showed Stroud talking to Kevin Wilson (or being talked to by Kevin Wilson depending on your perspective). With both Wilson and Day on the sidelines, I am not sure Stroud would get any extra knowledge from a phone call to the box.
Funny story about that. I was in an intro physics class that summer. The first day of class at the front of the lecture hall, was Robert Smith seated next to a coed. That was the last time I saw him that quarter, except on exam days. She was there very day and i have always assumed she was taking notes for him. Meanwhile you had this running story in the media that he quit the team to focus on academics.
The capper was that maybe a month or two later, the Lantern had a front page story of how Smith had spent much of the summer working a construction job in the Dayton area. Yet he left the team to focus on academics.
I have no doubt that he had issues with Uzelac. That "offense" was offensive with a stone age mentality. he would have been beat up and probably had his future career shortened by those college years. But it was never about academics.
(or at least a better fit in Gattis' system)
From what we have seen so far over the last few years, i would question whether Gattis has a system.
My dad was career Air Force and our family was stationed at RAF Lakenheath in England at the time. For those who were not around then, the Cold War was really a tangible thing. Exercises and drills happening at a much greater rate, Chemical Warfare exercises forcing any dependents on the base to hunker down inside for the duration. I was 11 then.
The base showed a live feed of the game in various spots on the base, bowling alley, NCO club, Officer's club etc. Of course it was in the wee hours, because of the time zone. The front page of the Stars and Stripes the next day was awesome, one of the first times, I had ever seen them spring for color. I wound up seeing the rebroadcast days later, but none of the excitement had worn off. It was really a defining moment in history for those around at that time.
Part of the plan. If they lose to Georgia this weekend, not having their head coach will give the committee leeway to still include them in the playoffs. If they win, without him being there, it will get everyone off the subject of giving up 650 yards to Ole Miss.
I would think if there were going to be athletic programs that were going to be hit hard by the virus, it would be southern schools. Your average B1G school has 10,0000 more students than your average SEC school. The larger student bodies translate to larger alumni bodies and more donations accordingly. B1G schools get more state funding as well as more research money. Endowments are generally larger as well.
When games are cancelled or crowd size is limited due to the virus, the B1G schools will be better equipped to ride it out. Heck, it was just a couple of years ago, that LSU was talking about possibly cancelling the football program due to state budget cuts.
my bad. i see the Georgia series we play there first.
I like the fact that OSU scheduled the home games in the first year for both the Bama and the Georgia series. I would not trust either of them to not buy their way out of the return game if we played on their home field first.
If the story is accurate, I think that right there is one of the reasons Miami fell. Sheer laziness on the part of the coaching staff.
It is already a problem with the schools down south.

And don't think that it is a coincidence that Saban has his own car dealership.
Not saying I am in favor of turning the entire sport into the SEC model, but as long as the NCAA is unable to adequately enforce the rules on the books, not sure there is really an alternative.
But the memories of those trips to Europe will last a lifetime.
