Cooper liked to platoon his QBs.
He’d have kept JTB and Cardale playing alternate series all of 2015.
He’d have platooned McCord with Stroud in 2021 then also plan to do the same for 2023 between McCord and Brown
Great work, Ramzy!
I wasn’t familiar with Anders story. He’s like a 6 sigma outlier.
Which sophomore is next to burst onto the scene?
Without checking any math, did you count 2010? I was there. It happened.
Lol!
You caught me. “Amateur tip”
Pro Tip:
Looks like that Song of the Day video was recorded at Red Rocks in Colorado. It’s an incredible amphitheater to watch a show, particularly for an outdoor venue.
I read somewhere that the WR coach was recently promoted to OC. There could be an opening.
Alas, it is the fate during rookie year of almost every near #1 draft pick, especially QBs, to play for an organization that desperately needs to fill more position holes than can be addressed in one draft.
Well, since Hartline got promoted to OC. There might be an ideal opening for the next Zone 6 coach.
The thing I like about Chase’s Spider-Man analogy, is that the franchise has had so many iterations and successes. The QB battle is on to see who starts as Spiderman for the Andrew Garfield series. “End of story.” No, the show must go on.
Lifelong Dolfan here. The problem in Miami started when the franchise bailed on Shula and Marino thinking that the grass would be greener. THE fans should recognize and celebrate how fortunate we are to have such green pastures right here and now.
Byers then Cris Carter in 87 were among my first thoughts.
The NCAA will need to evaluate (again) how this is called and seek more clarity and consistency.
I’d like to see the unnecessary roughness 15-yard penalty / first down separated from “targeting” with player ejection. The multiple reversed calls in multiple games don’t make any sense for a rule designed for player protection.
I’d add that Knowles defense forced UGA into four FG attempts, one occurring after a 3 and out possession that began on our 32.
I have confidence that the Silver Bullets keep improving under Knowles.
Nice write up, Ramzy, as always. Some interesting trivia to color in your picture of those early sports memories.
That 1981 Super Bowl was played the day that Iran released the hostages to come home. There were pink ribbons around the stadium in Detroit! (yes, they played that Super Bowl in the old Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit!) to celebrate their homecoming.
For what it's worth, many Ohio State fans suffered lingering dislike of Jim Plunkett from his Rose Bowl victory over the Buckeyes in 1970.
The "Miracle on Ice" hockey match was the medal round semi-final. The scrappy team of US college students had to proceed to beat Finland on Sunday for the gold medal. The Soviet game was played Friday afternoon and ABC (Olympic broadcaster back then) showed the game Friday evening on tape delay. During earlier Olympic coverage, ABC displayed the game result on a chiron. Spoiler Alert! Still, while watching the delayed broadcast Friday evening, we couldn't believe the miracle unfolding before us on the TV. I'll never forget that night and the absolute jubilation that the whole nation shared.
I have the same format issue covering text ... tried on several different browsers and devices. Will check back later.
Imaginary scenario.
If we had a head coach vacancy right now; if Ryan Day had his exact record of experience, success and failure only as head coach of another “national brand” program; then we would be EXTREMELY happy to hire him to lead the Buckeyes.
We can find that happiness without going through the drama and cost of replacing our coach. #HireRyanDay
Care: what Milhouse writes. Nice work drilling down on what matters.
Don’t Care: most of the redundant comments and circular arguments on every article and forum.
Hold on LA. Not “everybody thought (UGA) would smoke us.” I’m somebody and I thought we’d win leading up to the game.
Boom! Welcome to the Brotherhood!
Go forth and achieve success, JK. Would have liked to see you develop further in the OSU system. Now we’ll see who steps up.
You do realize he had safety help from McAllister who was late in reacting to the slip/trip.
Now that’s funny!
Another problem with MHJr hit was the unfortunate commentary by that piece of shit Fowler. Marvin is literally knocked out on the field when Fowler opines “that’s not targeting.”
Excellent point about transparency. We should see the exact clips that the official is viewing and they should be miked up for the audience. We know they have a mike because it’s used every call, so turn it on during the most controversial reviews.
