Roy Roychoudhury is a 1994 graduate of the Honors Accounting Program at The Ohio State University. Roy grew up in Marysville, Ohio loving the Buckeyes. Whether it was counting down the months, days, minutes, then seconds to the Michigan game, or sitting on the edge of his seat listening to the Buckeyes on the radio with his brother, Roy has always had a strong passion for sports, and particularly the Buckeyes. The idea for these books germinated when Roy's youngest daughter, Maeve Anne Parker, was born. Roy's new mission was to put his older daughter Emerson, who was two at the time, to bed each night. Emerson started to ask Roy to tell her stories, and Roy shared the tales and legends that he knew best. Emerson was riveted with each one. Some of her favorites included the 1979 Ohio State Michigan Game (now The Buckeye Block Party), the 1985 Ohio State - Iowa game, the 1986 Masters, and Game 6 of the 1975 World Series. Roy's wife finally suggested that other fans would probably be interested in these stories as well, so they contacted a publisher and started this journey. These are his first children's books. Roy has always had an uncanny memory for remembering minute details and facts about a multitude of games and statistics. He flexed these muscles when he won his only game show appearance on Sports Geniuses which aired on Fox Sports in 1999. Roy lives in Ashburn, Virginia with is wife, Anya, daughters, Emerson and Maeve Anne Parker, and dalmatians, Jaysi Mae and Sally. Roy thrives on running. He starts nearly every day with a five mile jog. Starting in 2005, his dogs were his daily running buddies. Four years later, his daughters joined in the fun. In the true spirit of Woody Hayes, neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor fog, will stop him from completing his daily ritual.

- SPORTS MOMENT: Greatest sports moment for me was beating Michigan in the 1979 Ohio State / Michigan Game - it was the first time in my young life that I had actually watch them both:
1. Score a TD against Michigan (We could not score a TD in 76, 77, 78)
2. Beat Michigan
I will never forget sharing the moment Jim Laughlin (or Mike D'Andrea for you black opps) blocked the punt and Todd Bell returned if for a TD. We beat Michigan and went to the Rose Bowl!
A close second was the int on the 2 point conversion to beat Michigan last year. The reason.. my 4 year old daughter, Emerson, ran to me and knocked me down she was so excited. It was the first real great Ohio State moment I shared with my children. We both cried. Amazing.

Sir - you clearly would have been Costanza with the big salad

It’s a moot point - but I’m not down with the negotiated sacrifice - it really cheapened the gesture IMHO…. but maybe I’m too Gran Torino… and I also don’t have a dog in this fight as I’m barely an NFL fan anymore - will watch the playoffs but nowhere near the kid who dreamed of working at NFL Films and actually interned there when I was a student at OSU…
so if I understand you correctly - the Bengals formal team statement / had the Bengals known the result would be what actually happened- no way would They have walked off the field? While stunning to think they’d actually have done that - this is like survivor when the cluck from Maine - Dan the mailman - was pressuring other contestants to sacrifice so he could read a letter from his wife - I just don’t respect that personally - but it is what it is
Maybe it’s a cultural thing in society today / but if one of my kids told me they made a tremendous sacrifice for someone because it was the right thing to do then lamented about the actual ramifications of that sacrifice- I’d be so disappointed in them….
the second the Bengals decided not to play the game (which was the right thing to do) they know the consequences of walking off the field and that the NFL could make whatever choice they wanted to after that
i really wish the Bengals as an organization would have taken the high road and said - regardless of where we play for the playoffs - we did the right thing and we would do it again
these days - it’s not surprising that people want to make these grand gestures and all the credit that comes with them - yet expect no actual Negative consequences as part of that sacrifice.
It seems a bit more than disingenuous to be willing to stop the game but then not being ok with whatever consequences come as a result of this…. As many posters said - the kid from the Bills is improving each day and morally they did what they felt was appropriate which it was - but then don’t complain about whatever the league does - at least that’s my stance on this
MN has a real baller as a freshman - like Paige Beuckers good
This same traits that develop a person into an elite competitor can also surface in dark areas of their life (gambling / MJ, Rose) even to the extent of murder (OJ)… sad facts of human psychology
Not that anyone needs to be blamed for a missed kick... unless it was done on purpose or due to sloppy preparation... which I do not think was the case - It was the holder who messed up - not NR.... if you notice right after the kick.. the kicker is consoling the holder - not the other way around. The holder spun the ball the slow and the wrong way. Quite frankly - we are lucky the ball got in the air at all. In life - stuff happens and people from kids to adults don't always perform like Michael Jordan in the moment. Nothing wrong with that. A kick is three parts.. snap, hold and kick. I think it was the hold... a real Ace Ventura situation here. Regardless - it's not a video game it's kids playing a stressful game in a full stadium in front of 80000 people - Having kids in competitive situations who have messed up on small and big stages... I totally get it and it's a part of life that hopefully translates into them being better parents and adults some day...
I couldn't be more proud of our effort as a team on Saturday... Go Bucks
terribly sad situation. One wonders if Art ever had a chance or were his demons too great? People don't appreciate the dude was Joe Burrow meets Caleb Williams... or another way of saying - Justin Fields perhaps.
Just plain sad he could never grasp the gift he was given and the responsibility to maintain it properly. He never had to do real work a day in his life had he been able to just stay away from terrible decisions... but he just couldn't / can't
There is a reason he didn’t play in the Peach Bowl and if he can’t break into that rotation - do we really want him? Best of luck to him - I thought he was pretty solid but what do I know.
Dukes does a great job at marketing- but I don’t know how any red blooded American can like anything but Helmans
was waiting for Locksley to strangle the dude pouring the Dukes on him
Typically for the big games I go old school Byars 41 or Speilman 36… depending on which we need more - I’m thinking Speilman
Yes - but then there are the cameras recording our practice(s)….
Smart runs the program like Saban does at Bama - kind of Bilachek lite…
From my paranoid NIL place - not sure why he wouldn’t transfer to be closer to home at UW and be the #1 there - but of course I want him here and know he is set to be a first rounder after next year…
Funny - for some reason I though about Graves coming in for Fleming in some situations - and Brown is a tough son of a gun - I’d take him blocking for bubble screens as a WR any day…. Doubt we will see either but would be tremendous
I doubt Graves has the strength to get off the line v UGA
I really think this all gets fixed in 2024 - I really think when those media deals kick in the B1G and SEC are going to lead the charge to pay football and men’s basketball players - also - I don’t think there is anyway the players aren’t going to be paid to participate in the playoffs - in a 3 year career you could be adding 12 games to a players load and I’m sure this is already being discussed especially don’t want players opting out of playoff games
Once that happens - the governing body (won’t be NCAA but will be football and men’s basketball specific) will collectively bargain to limit player movement - once that happens - much of this nonsense involving player poaching will be greatly tempered.
I think Gene Smith knows this as do the administrators in B1G schools so they are just hoping to hang on during recruiting seasons this year and next as this will all evolve quite dramatically by 2024.
Clemson game has about 10 if onlys
wade targeting
catch and fumble
Olave not changing his route
Clemson not turning Dobbins ankle in the pile
Borland holds onto INT on first drive
You sir are spot on - this is what they call a Suckers bet - vegas is itching for people to take the “easy” money with UGA ….
I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. This most closely resembles the 74 Rose Bowl - which we supposedly backed into… we were huge underdogs despite being 1 or 2 all season - we showed up loose and with a great game plan and we hammered USC
https://www.elevenwarriors.com/2009/12/flashback-1974-rose-bowl.html
If only Boom slid down at the fiesta bowl - we beat Texas
if only Hamby holds on - we beat Texas
if only dobbins doesn’t get caught from behind and fields has slightly better touch on the Dobbins pass - we beat Clemson
If only Philly Brown doesn’t muff the putt - we beat Clemson
If we don’t fumble the onside kick vs Oklahoma - we beat Oklahoma (1977)
if Frantz makes the FG we beat TTUN
could go on and on and on and on
Coop had a guy from DC in his first or second class - WR - Nathan Williams - ran a 4.2 but couldn’t catch a cold - I think think he lasted 2 seasons
For me people are skipping the ‘74 Rose Bowl which is actually pretty similar environment as this game as
1. Many people say we “backed in” after tie v TTUN - B1G mad a documentary basically crying that we made the Rose Bowl
2. Assumed we would get trucked in bowl game by superior team - We got destroyed by SC in the 73 Rose Bowl
3. We had been a top team all season before the TTUN game and similarly the public perception was we had no shot in the Rose Bowl just like this Peach Bowl
We came out and passed on them which shook them up and Archie had his iconic run at the end too

Yet another link to an age long past is gone… RIP he seemed like a good man with a strong legacy. It can never be overstated the impact those Steeler teams of the 70’s had on the eventual massive growth of the NFL to what it is today…
Say what you will about Bama and Saban - but this is literally stunning in todays day and age - it needs to be studied and understood how Bama creates this culture where too guys stay and even if they are laid to do so then so be it - it needs to be duplicated everywhere- like now…
this could be the best news I’ve heard in a while - gives me hope for college footballs future
