After every Ohio State win this season, we honor two Buckeyes with awards for offensive and defensive player of the week.

For the second straight week, Lathan Ransom is Eleven Warriors' defensive player of the week after a standout performance, while freshman running back Dallan Hayden earns our offensive player of the week honors.

Ransom is becoming public enemy number one for punters, as he made a game-changing blocked punt early in the second half to set up an Ohio State touchdown in the third quarter.

“Tommy's playing with two messed-up hands,” Ransom said after the game. “What's my excuse not to go out there and play?”

Meanwhile, Hayden took every carry for Ohio State in the second half en route to rushing for 146 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries. All but one of those attempts came in the final 30 minutes.

“It just feels like it means I can show my coaches that they can trust to put me in, and if they need me, I can be there for them,” Hayden said following the win.

This is the second time Ransom has earned player of the week honors, though it is the first weekly award of the season for Hayden. In 2022, Ransom has totaled 60 tackles (3.5 for loss), 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, four pass deflections, one interception and two blocked punts. Hayden has racked up 503 yards on 100 carries (5.0 yards per carry) with five touchdowns.

Both now accompany a loaded list of Buckeyes to have received the accolades this season after 11 weeks’ worth of Ohio State wins.
