Michigan is money savvy, considering how they restructured Jim Harbaugh's contract to incentivize beating OSU and nabbed Olu Oluwaitimi through the transfer portal. They target productive 5th year seniors at key positions and it's working for them.

Investing in freshmen is risky, even five stars, but OSU could target a proven veteran cornerback through the portal. In 2022, 1 elite cornerback was the difference between achieving all 3 team goals, and achieving 0. It would be worth it to offer a player like Clark Philips 2-3 million, The rest of the team would understand because they'd be getting a championship out of it.

That's what The Athletic just said

The point of bringing up Woody Hayes and Urban Meyer is to show that coaches with an aggressive and destructive mentality have been successful against Michigan- success that not all OSU coaches have.

Do you think it's a coincidence that the 2019 OSU team was the last team to come out hitting hard and knocking opponent players out of the game, and was the last OSU team to beat Michigan? Also the last team heavily influenced by Urban Meyer.

Mel Tucker is the only Big 10 coach to beat Michigan in the past 2 years and he had his team ready to get violent with Michigan players. Now think about this: If they're willing to try to hurt them in their stadium tunnel after the game is over and risk getting arrested, suspended, and sued for their NIL money, wouldn't it be more practical to just hurt them during the game without a risk of anything more than a targeting ejection?

Examples:

In the 2019 Clemson game which was also a revenge/rivalry game, OSU came out hitting hard and knocked Justyn Ross out of the game. They also tried to knock Trevor Lawrence out, but it didn't work because Lawrence is tough and that backfired when Shaun Wade was ejected.

In the 2020 Clemson game it was done to OSU. James Skalski tried to take Justin Fields out, and while it didn't immediately knock him out of the game, it limited his mobility in the rest of the semifinal game and the championship game against Alabama.

Obviously it's hard to execute and high risk/high reward, but it can be a game changer. In some games, your only chance to win might be to knock a key opposing player out of the game or at least limit his effectiveness with pain/injury. You may not like it, but the laws of physics and the physical vulnerability of humans will always be there and chances are, other playoff teams will know how much impact knocking a key player out can have on their chances of winning.

Actually I do mean that. The Ryan Day way of coaching works well against other teams, but no so well against Michigan. Do you think someone like Woody Hayes or Urban Meyer would hesitate to injure Michigan players if it meant getting a win? Woody Hayes punched a Clemson player. Urban Meyer kicked his own kicker. Both of them also kicked the crap out of Michigan consistently. Maybe they know what it takes to beat Michigan and you don't? Do you really hate Michigan enough to beat them?

Georgia hurt John Metchie in the SEC championship game last year and they hurt Jameson Williams in the NCG last year. Would probably have lost the NCG last year if both John Metchie and Jameson Williams were healthy. After hurting MHJ, they are favorites to win another NC this year. They basically won 2 consecutive titles by injuring the opponent's best receivers.

NEWS FLASH: The Pac-12 hates the Big Ten for stealing their 2 most valuable programs. OSU is front and center in the Big Ten and Pac-12 officials are not doing OSU any favors.

Are you kidding? Washington is in an upscale part of Seattle, close to Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, and Starbucks. A lot of alums working for those companies. No basketball team for sports fans to spend money on. Washington has more NIL potential than OSU. Washington should be at the top with Miami, Texas, USC, and Stanford in the NIL era.

According to SI, Dante Moore is visiting Columbus this weekend. From the article,

"I did a little bit of digging and it's looking like Moore is likely headed to Columbus this weekend for a visit to Ohio State. The Buckeyes are as marketable as any school in the nation and they were his dream school as a kid despite growing up in Michigan."

Not sure what the coaches are doing with their time if this allegation is true, but they have a 20% chance to win a national championship in the next month and they seem to be distracted.

I dont think starting a brawl with UGA is a good idea. UGA seemed to be holding back on their opponents for most of the year. Did you see what Jalen Carter did to Jayden Daniels? Now imagine what he might have done if he were pissed off.

UM on the other hand, acts tough, and even receives media recognition for "toughness" but I think what they really are is a bunch of smart asses. That's the team you can gain from by punching in the mouth, not UGA. Wonder why OSU hasn't tried to knock JJ McCarthy out of the game considering they don't have a backup QB.

According to ESPN, Arch Manning might start for Texas in 2023 and Ewers could be benched

More like, donate $100 and get an autographed photo from your favorite player. All of that $ should go straight to said player. Or donate $500 and get a jumbo sized photo autographed by every starter on the offense, that you can hang on your wall like a painting. Frames sold separately. OSU should be supporting the players by providing the photo printing, and logistics.

I don't think Bob Stoops got ran out of OU. They would love to have him coach right now. He just doesn't want to work that much anymore and retired from CFB.

Jimbo Fisher did not exactly get run out of FSU. He wasn't getting along with the athletic department and they mutually decided to part ways. It's also well documented that FSU suffered more than Jimbo Fisher after he left.

I think the only way a team with a non-elite defense can beat USC is to rough Caleb Williams. They're going to score touchdowns every drive anyway, a bunch of 15 yard unnecessary roughness penalties won't change the score. But 5 to 10 hard hits after the play is dead could impair his ability to run late game, and then when he can't run anymore, you have a chance to stop their offense.

That's what I'm thinking. This kind of game-plan dominance correlates with a successful espionage operation. Maybe when Urban Meyer was dominating UM, he had people inside UM passing him info, and now Ryan Day doesn't have that? Whereas Harbaugh now has people inside OSU passing him info?

I mean Harbaugh gets paid like $500k just for beating OSU. It's in his financial interest to pay for something that can help him win and collect that bonus.
