Another issue is that if Holtmann keeps failing to win anything then the recruiting is going to fall off. I'm already surprised that good players want to play for him. If you want to win something in college why would you play for Holtmann?

Such a bad contract extension
If we aren't going to make a run in March then why not?
These guys are embarrassing
Lol Sueing
Bring on the pain and suffering
To the people who say Kelsey and Gates have not accomplished enough to get the job over Holtmann, I say so what if we fire Holtmann and Kelsey turns out to be worse? Am I really going to miss being dead average and a first round exit in the tournament? This program under Holtmann is just flat out not enjoyable. They blow leads, they never win a big game in March, they lose to bad teams like dead-last Minnesota. Honestly, failing to make the tournament altogether and consistent bad first week exits are the same to me.
I would rather take a chance and be better with a new coach and maybe risk failing then keeping the mediocre status quo.
Death penalty state
Oh so he was good with Thad's players, interesting....
We are not even meeting this low standard you articulated (which should not be the standard)
Yes, they can but will Gene do it?
It's so maddening that Holtmann got an extension last year. It would have been so easy to just let his contract expire and just go hire Pat Kelsey. Now Gene won't want to make the move right after extending him.
What has Gene seen in 6 years to warrant Holtmann getting a 7th? Getting good players here doesn't matter if you can't win with them.
Yea, luckily for Holtmann it's really not that hard to make the tournament these days. That's why it's not the accomplishment that Holtmann lovers think it is
Someone the other day mentioned Pat Kelsey. He is from Ohio and always had good teams at Winthrop and now has Charleston at 18-1 and ranked. He's accomplished way more than Holtmann has.
Is there any realistic chance Gene fires Holtmann if he misses the NCAA tournament?
Another L for Holtmann
Awesome coaching Doltmann. Sensabough throws up a prayer with plenty of time left allowing Rutgers to get off a good 3 pointer when we should have had the last shot
There's a lot of good coaches out there now. The Holtmann lovers who constantly argue "but who else are you gonna get" are going to be left without any excuses.
This is the type of game Holtmann will win and make everyone confused about his competence
Stroud has a big NIL deal with The Foundation
That little Schottenstein dweeb that runs The Foundation already said he's not coming back
If anyone thinks CJ is coming back they must be extremely delusional.
I like this
But we literally see the same comment every year and the results are the same. You could say that after year 2 or 3 but not year 6. 6 years is plenty of time for a coach in college basketball where you can overhaul a roster in 1 year.
