The "solution" may be just that, designating college athletes to be employees. Let them form a bargaining unit to negotiate a master work agreement to govern nil, recruiting, portal, etc. that sets out the rules and responsibility of both sides. I would hate to see that happen, but short of Congressional action, a union contract may be the only way out.

When the going gets tough, it is too often an easy choice to bail in the face of adversity. Who would want to be a conference commish having to answer to university presidents, coaches, and media sponsors in the current mess of the portal and NIL?

More and more high school coaches are including promoting their players to the various colleges as part of their job duties. That and it helps in their recruiting to their program.

High school players and their parents can self promote through social media plus there is the option of recruiting services. Bottom line, if a player is good enough, they will be found in this day and age.

Prognosticating 2023 may be an exercise in futility at this moment. Who is in, who is out in terms of the NFL and portal? Who is the new OC? Any other coaching changes?

There is what I consider to be a more challenging schedule with games at South Bend, Madison, and Ann Arbor plus a challenging home game with Penn State.

I wouldn't be shocked if talking heads picked the Bucks anywhere from finishing third in their Big 10 division to being a CFP semifinalist.

2023 if nothing will be interesting.

Daughter is a 25 year NREMTP/Flight Nurse. Deliberate haste is the golden rule in the field.

I think your points are sound. Yet the potential exists for TOSU to be relegated to non elite status if they continue  down the high road in dealing with NIL and the portal. I hate to see Ohio State  be placed in that awkward position. OSU and the Big 10 have some tough decisions staring them in the face.

Perish the thought of Buckeyes leaving old Columbus town for greener NILpastures. Yet we should not be shocked if any of the above mentioned names test their market value in the portal. $$ > loyalty.

I had predicted a Georgia blow out victory. I know there are no moral victories, but I am pleased the Buckeyes answered the call given the mysterious malise that hovered over the team during the second half of the season.

Sometimes breaks are made by proactive coaching decisions (fake punt waive off) or extra effort by a player (Bower's spot).

The ref's decisions would not have had bearing on the game without Georgia's efforts to create the "breaks".

UGA leads 27- 21 at half. Then the Buckeyes are rolled again in the second half 28-3.. Final outcome UGA 55-24..

I live in the Carolina's and I prefer Hellman's which is blasphemy. Yet during my first 28 years, Miracle Whip was my go to in Ohio. 44 years later, MW is repulsive.

Even in the aftermath of a blow out loss, with apologies to Phil Castellini, where are Buckeye fans going to go, who are we going to get that would be better than Ryan Day?

You well.may have described the root cause of.Ohio State's perceived failure to live up to its potential as a team.
