I, too, would like to visit for the ND game as ticket prices are outrageous.

I want a fall Saturday in Ohio Stadium..

His dad signing with the Lakers makes me wonder if USC / UCLA may have an advantage

HS
Red Shirt Ensign's picture

Not being in LA also has its advantages.  If I were him I'd want to try and go my own way and put some distance between me and him.  Its a big shadow to play under.

I'm sure he loves his dad and learned a lot, but Lebron sure has a way of making everything all about him.  If my dad takes it upon himself to be on the court pregame shooting around with the team etc... I would feel suffocated, no one else's father gets to do that, a coach would put any other parent in their place...he should be in the stands.

Plus he'd be closer to Akron and most of the people he has none his entire life.   So here's a vote for the Hometown heroes!

You mean ESPN is planning on buying referees to push what they want to see the game result as being?

Would love it if he comes here.  Also, I put a bet on him coming here because the odds were so low, so I'd appreciate the extra grand.

I think LeBron was planning on coming to the ND game anyway, so in some ways I think it would be amazing for OSU to get a chance to impress him, but also he's just tagging along to a game his dad was already planning on attending, so not sure how much this actually signifies intent.

HS
B07841's picture

Absolutely right! I'm sure his dad wants to come to this game and probably fits into his schedule.  So why not kill two birds with one stone and get a college visit out of it also.  LeBron isn't going to hang around the Ohio State, visit his locker, and walk around on the field without his son in tow.

Just the same repetitive regurgitation from the crowd that gets triggered by any mention of LeBron, directly or indirectly. Trust me, you've seen it before.

You are right, I probably have. Still hate to miss out on the ridiculousness though.

HS

If he is like the old man then he will be in Hollywood, just depends on who brings the cash either USC or UCLA. The old man has too many things going on in LA for him to miss bronny playing.

HS
Eph97's picture

That would be huge for both hoops and football to land Bronny. The kids love Lebron and him being a frequent visitor to OSU would help recruiting for both programs.

HS
nomatta's picture

No offense to Bronny, he's a good player, but Taison Chatman is visiting that weekend, too, and he'd be my preference for a 5th player in an already excellent 2023 class for Holtmann.

HS

Curious as to why you say this? Something about his game that translates better?

HS
Buckeye Chuck's picture

I keep thinking he's probably going to stay in LA for school (assuming he prefers school to life in the G League or as a pro outside the US system) because he can continue to live at home that way. Bronny James is not sharing a room in Steeb Hall.

But sure, it's fine if he wants to check out the scene.

As a kid from a middle class family, I was appalled at how much(little) space you got at the dorms in the early 80's.  I was hoping to move into the dorms, but when I saw that you get about 20 cubic feet of personal space total in them and you are likely to have not one but probably two or three roommates, I said, no thanks.  Hopefully conditions are better now.

HS
RunningFree's picture

Hopefully conditions are better now.

Well, about that...

HS
covey2's picture

A little off topic, but whoever drafts bronny knows that they will sign LeBron as well. He has made it known he wants to play atleast one season with his son.

HS
RunningFree's picture

That's a lot of capital to spend to land someone who will likely end up on a 2-way contract.

HS
buckeyeEddie27's picture

So it's a news story that he is -considering- a visit?

This is going to be such a circus with this kid.

I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.

I Believe In Ohio State.

HS
DefenceWinsChampionships's picture

Not a circus. It’s news worthy because it’s been such a quiet recruitment. The kid has already started his senior year and hasn’t visited anywhere yet. Most assume (as do I), that this is because he’s heading straight for the G league, but if the visit impresses enough, maybe that changes his mind. We know his dad is a mega OSU fan. You have to imagine some of that has rubbed off on his son. Maybe we can turn his head a little bit.

HS

I’m sure his pops will come as well.  Probably be the guess picker on GameDay.

I think the thought that LeBron is going to just going to be at every practice and take over the team is a bit over blown. He has his own season to worry about, and I don’t think he has time to come coach.

However, it’s not like Bronny is going to come in and force the team to switch shoes brands after he signs.

HS
Buckeisenhower's picture

Come on down Bronny, be great to have you. Help take Buckeyes basketball to the next level and live out a dream your dad wasn’t able too live  (or stupid to have). The brotherhood is real. Go Bucks!

Bronny is excellent talent and a name draw to any school he goes to, if he goes to school.  Its cool if he comes  but if he doesn't then OSU will continue on without missing a beat.

This guy is not coming here, he has no connection to Ohio State. LeBron has no connection to Ohio State. Just because LeBron said, if had gone to college it probably would have been Ohio State, doesn’t mean he’s connected here. Bottom line, Ohio isn’t big time enough for LeBron, he has proven that twice. And that’s ok, if you don’t want to live in Ohio that’s cool. Bronny seems like a good kid, I just don’t think Ohio is big time enough for him. LeBron is going to do everything that he can to get Bronny straight into the NBA. If this football game wasn’t  the talk of the nation LeBron wouldn’t be coming back here. Good luck to Bronny, forge your own path kid!

HS
buckslan's picture

I found the butthurt Cavs fan

Who cares if he has no connection to Ohio State? Most recruits in basketball and football have no connection here. And Lebron has several connections to Ohio State. He's been to games in the past, has his own locker, and has marketed with Ohio State and Nike before. You know nothing of Bronny and his interest in Ohio State, so don't be talking like Ohio isn't "big enough" for him. You wouldn't be saying this dumb crap if his dad wasn't one of the most famous sports players ever.

HS
PiPo2234's picture

No, you didn’t. I could care less about the Cavs. I could care less about the NBA. The time I give to the NBA is to see how Buckeyes are doing. Nice try though. So, because LeBron attends some games here and has a locker here and markets Nike here. His son will attend school here? Not going to happen. LeBron doesn’t give a crap about Ohio State. LeBron markets here because Ohio State makes money. Ohio State made money before LeBron was born, it’s made money while LeBron never attended school here and it will make money when LeBron has passed on. You are right about one thing, I don’t know anything about Bronny. I do know that he isn’t playing basketball here. Looks like you are the one here who is butthurt, whatever that means.

HS
buckslan's picture

OSU is recruiting Bronny hard, and he's making a visit here. He might not commit to OSU but to say there is no chance is flat out absurd.

HS
PiPo2234's picture

Ok, so I’m absurd. They can recruit him hard, semi-hard, soft or semi-soft, he isn’t playing basketball for The Ohio State. Would be a nice pick up though for North Carolina Central or North Carolina A&T. Go Eagles!! Go Aggies!!

HS
CincyBuck's picture

Odds are he's not coming here simply because "the field" is almost always a better bet than a specific school.  But LeBron absolutely has a connection here.  Whether or not he would've gone to school here, he grew-up in the state, is vocally supportive of the school, regularly shows-up to games, etc.  That's enough to get a foot in the door with Bronny.  And that's enough for OSU to take their shot.  The kid could easily buy tickets to the game and forgo all of the recruiting trip BS.

I suspect it's more likely the kid ends up going to the NBA immediately, one of the LA-area schools, or a blueblood.  But I do think OSU has an advantage over the run-of-the-mill, large state schools in that next tier (e.g., Alabama, LSU, etc.)

The people out on this kid are hilarious... Would there be drama added with bringing Lebron's son? Yes of course. What would it also bring? Lebron James fully into our corner helping recruit the country's best young players to play alongside his son lol. Lebron would basically become a recruiter for OSU basketball for the next 2-3 years. Sign me up.

HS
PiPo2234's picture

LeBron can’t even recruit players to his own team. None that can win anyway! I don’t think that Coach Holtmann and staff are ready to hand over their program to LeBron.

HS

Screw Lebron every place he has gone has eventually turned into a Shit Show.

HS

NO THANKS!! Holtman has the recruiting going his way, we don't need Lebron Coaching, AD, Publicist! 41st best player in the country would he be worth the BullShit from his Daddy?
