I imagine TTUN’s pitch will be “you’ve been our top priority for a long time. We love mobile QB’s etc..” and Day’s pitch is probably “come and be developed by me. My track record with QB’s speaks for itself.”
Not sure if Day will be able to make up for the ground lost but objectively it would be wise for Davis to at least consider OSU. He’s not going to be developed better anywhere else except maybe USC.

AD support or not, he’s still in hot water with the NCAA and it keeps getting uglier with every denial. An article on ESPN said he’s facing a multi-game suspension at this point. Between this and the non-suspension of a player who was charged with a felony, the whole “Michigan Man” mantra is beginning to take on a negative connotation nationally (in places other than Ohio).
"At one point last spring, OSU was considered front runners for both Davis and Raiola before pivoting solely to focus on Raiola."
They were in on both guys and pivoted to the top one who committed early. You can't realistically take both so I'm not sure there's much of an animosity factor there. Day reengages in earnest and points out that he can either go to a place where he will receive exceptional development while throwing to the most elite receiving corps in the nation and likely getting drafted in the top-10... or he can go to a place where he can hand off the ball 35 times a game while probably completing a handful of passes to average WRs enjoying busted coverages and/or TCU defensive backs...
I really think it is too late. He'll give Hartline a few minutes as he finishes packing for another trip up to Ann Arbor this weekend. SCum has been feeling very very confident on getting Davis for quite awhile now.
No one should have foolish pride. Go to UM and hand the ball off 40 times a game or go to OSU and pass 40 times a game and get drafted in the 1st round. Easy choice if you are a qb, but we shall see.
Should and will aren’t always the same. These are young kids who have and are being held on a pedestal by an inordinate number of people, many of whom are setting their expectations at the moon. Once they’ve been brushed aside by one party, you can understand why the may mot make the most logical choice when it pertains to that same party.

Could care less about draft picks. Beating that team is more important than draft picks. John Cooper was a king at getting guys drafted, but couldn't beat that team to save his life.

The sell is “we haven’t had a guy that can sling it like you. I coached and played in the NFL. I know what it takes. We’ve been to playoffs the last 2 years. You can put us over the top!”
I agree with you guys. A lot of ground to make up. And honestly what qb besides luck has Jim developed? I think McCarthy is an average qb with a good o line.
Does anyone remember or know what happened here? Did Raiola just commit and beat Davis to the punch? Not sure if we chose Raiola over Davis, or we told Davis to hold off, hoping Raiola would commit instead. Was this a 1A or 1B situation or Plan A or B?
Context matters because you don't want Davis harboring ill feelings where he says thanks, but no thanks. Ryan certainly brought the big guns. We will have 3 first round picks at QB to sell to him. Development should be #1 to a highly decorated QB.
We were recruiting Davis and stopped after raoila committed. Hopefully he understands that we took the first person who wanted in. That being said. Hartline and Dennis are top tier recruiters. Let’s get it done.
For Davis it’s a battle of early playing time at ttun (their qb room is full of ?) and being developed but may have to stand in line an extra year or 2 at OSU. If not him then day will find another one.
A tad off topic all these visits what happens when a recruit comes straight out and says I'm looking for the big money? What can coach Day do or say after all the other sales pitches are similar from other schools like relationships etc. I admit not the sharpest knife in the drawer and not understanding NIL totally. If we are not going to spend on a player you would almost have to say thank you for your time good luck and move on.
funny how the fan base here changed ...when OSU was whoopin ass on Shitigan every year the fan base here wished Hairball to stay at Shitigan forever now since he totally annihilated OSU the past 2 seasons everybody wants him gone ....haha ...are you all suggesting Day can't beat him ???
If Davis really wanted to be up there, he would have committed by now. He very well might go there, but he hasn’t committed there yet. Even if he does as Meyer would say, that just means they are in his top 3.

“Welcome to OSU, Mr. Davis”
Anyone else feel like it too little too late on David? Michigan has been on him since day 1. We’ve been in him since Raiola decommited

Steve Sarkisian knows how to develop QBs too.
Didn't Harbaugh visit with Raiola recently? Also isn't their co oc in hot water right now?
Jim is in hot water RN lol
He's not. He told his AD and the NCAA to kiss his ass. With the full support of the University President. (see article below).
Amazing how much goodwill winning that last game in November can buy you.

Weiss is absolutely in hot water - and Harbaugh could be as well depending on what the Weiss investigation turns up.
I like our chances.
Hmm

If Fired means "in hot water", yeah, he's in hot water!
Right... I wouldn't wanna be someone's backup plan..but.. maybe he really wants to come here, time will tell!
Who is David?
He is on our slingshot team...beat Goliath from TTUN this past summer

He should wait they may be getting banged by the NCAA something we can use for leverage.

Actually we were in on Davis for a while before we zeroed in on Raiola

Upfront money will speak loudly also.

BEAT TTUN!!

It is all in the sell.
What are you talking about?
The fact that Hartline is involved in his recruitment should make any other college coaches nervous.
I agree with you guys. A lot of ground to make up. And honestly what qb besides luck has Jim developed? I think McCarthy is an average qb with a good o line.

In it, to win it, my friend(s).
Top 13 after decommitting? Yawn.
Don't worry! Baldie and the Penn State kittens are one of the 13.

There is a lot of time left for the 2024's...a lot can and will change.
And lol @ "Top 13" media releases....
Go Bucks!
