Great news. I don’t follow basketball ball recruiting that closely and didn’t realize he was from Reynoldsburg. That area is really starting to produce some serious talent.

Fantastic. Love the homegrown talent. Basketball isn't really my sport but I would love to see the Buckeyes do well.

I hope Michigan never wins another game.

Love his ball handling and smooth stroke. Like a young Steph? Maybe.

Seems more like Trae Young to me as far as the shooting goes and how he sets up his shots. Either way is great lol.

Got a feeling Juni is gonna be an elite player - so much talent and is so athletic and versatile.

Traits of a born leader and prolly a fantastic recruiter.

Always try to look for the positive ........... in the midst of a crisis !!

Holtzmann has really picked it up on the recruiting trail and transfer portal the past 18 months or so. He's bringing in some good talent. Still waiting for him to get a player in the top ten nationally. Coach K and Roy Williams retiring should make getting one a little easier eventually. One would think all the blue chips can't end up playing at Kentucky or Kansas for Calipari and Self. We might actually have enough quality players to get to a Sweet Sixteen, or with a little luck an Elite 8 in the next couple years.

From Reynoldsburg in our backyard? Grew up an OSU fan?? Sort of an easy get I would assume. How about a couple low post/rim protectors over 6'6" . . . not projects??

This guy seems like he has the intangibles. He's upbeat and seems like a leader. I'm getting happy about recruiting. I'm hopeful he's a 1 and Done. Those attract more of the same.

So hard to follow Buckeye basketball.  So many transfers.

We had a couple transfers last season. That's less than the national average, believe it or not. Transfers are just a big part of college sports now, especially now that there are no penalties for it and sometimes great incentives.

No point in even responding to people like that tbh

Wow, the video of him in 5 th grade. dribbling like that at that age, wow NBA talent at that age.

John Mobley Jr. is a great pickup that kid can flat out shoot it on the court from long range playing for LV Orange. This kid is hitting difficult half court shots like they are layups. He is an impressive shooter with some good ball skills. I'm surprised he's 43rd. He's a top 10 to top 15 HS player.

Height.

But I agree, fantastic talent.

You did see him dunk on a fast break.....right?

HS

Yeah. I'm just saying the only reason he isn't ranked higher, right or wrong, is height. If he were over 6'2" he'd probably be T20.

Another great perimeter player pickup, but we seriously need some more talented big men to contend with the elite teams.

In 2023-2024 we have Key, Okpara, and Parks. We are recruiting multiple 2024 frontcourt players. And college basketball is very much a guard and wings game now.

Most of the elite teams only have two “bigs” and will often play small ball instead. We have plenty of bigs. Key, Okpara, and Parks plus some lengthy guys at the 3 and 4. This class is a year and half out, from signing, so there’s no need to worry about grabbing a big guy. Just be excited Holtmann and company landed such an excellent point guard.

OSU has 2 'bigs' if key is considered a big, 'listed' as a 6-8 center isn't a big in my mind especially as H. has said through key's sophomore year, that he isn't a center, yet here we are. 2 is plenty only if they are healthy all year. Considering the frosh will only play about 8-10 minutes a game, is that really two? If you consider 6-6 lengthy guys at 3-4, you and I have different ideas of what is lengthy on a bb team. It's adequate, certainly not lengthy in major college bb.

By your definition of bigs-6-8 and taller, most 'elite' teams have 5 or more bigs not the two that you suggest or the two that osu has. As to the signing period it's in 3 weeks, so barely a year, not a year and a half.

Watching his 5th grade video, only exclamation is OMG!  This kid has amazing footwork, ballhandling abilities of a Pete Maravich and a great court vision.

Welcome to the Buckeye Nation, John Mobley Jr!!!
