He played very well, it was easy to see watching the game, hopefully he continues to play.

Josh was very quick on his feet and getting to the second-level block regularly.  He is going to be solid when he takes that spot over on a fulltime basis.

Outstanding debut!!

He's gonna prove doubters wrong.

Go Bucks!!!

Who were the doubters???

Glad you asked Downtown. There is a certain contingent on here who think that ONLY 5 star lineman should be signed. Josh was a 3 star rated player, so he falls into the category that some will piss, whine, bitch, moan, and complain about.

Some go so far as to call for the firing of coaches over the subject.

I think Josh will continue to prove people wrong.

Have a great day!

Go Bucks!!!

Josh had a damn good first game and to hear him say that he made mistakes in the game just shows he wants it.

Great opportunity for Josh. He showed his first team capability. Well done!

He earned another start and if very successful, maybe the key to the run game is Josh. I like Dewand and Jeff, but they have not been getting it done.

Does anyone what Dawand Jones injury is?  I don’t think it has been disclosed.  I wonder how long he had been dealing with this..?

I remember Jones first year when he would get in late in games he would just maul guys in the running game.   There were times that first year that he would just collapse the whole right side of the defensive line of scrimmage and take out 2-3 guys.  This year he seems very solid in pass protection but inconsistent in run blocking and definitely not the road grader he flashed 2 years ago.  Maybe he has a nagging injury??

Why rush Dewan back for Maryland game? Let him sit another week, and be ready for Michigan game.

I say let Dewand start if he's capable and play a few series and then bring Fryar back in to finish the game. Don't want Dewand to get too rusty before The Game.

As you get older, three things happen: The first is your memory goes, and I can't remember the other two.

"Fryar felt prepared to start because of how he has been coached by Frye in Frye’s first year as Ohio State’s offensive line coach."

Impressive comment about Coach Frye from someone who has shown positive results.

If your opponent knocks you on your ass, honor the game and RESPECT him. But Gentlemen, no bastard ever won a football game by getting knocked on his ass. You won it by knocking the other poor dumb bastard on his ass and making HIM respect You!!

I love Thanos, but maybe Fryar is just better as a run blocker? just a thought

Faster, tougher, and more violent...

Josh has better mobility to get up to the second level, or when he blocks down on sweep action, but Thanos is more effective when we run between the tackles and the backs are running downhill, rather than to the outside ....

When in the last four or five games has he been successful initiating a run between the tackles. This has been an ongoing failure on the right side of the line in the run game. Maybe it was just Indiana, but let’s find out. Josh did a good job.

Kudos to Josh for being ready to step up. As much as I love Dawand, I think we might want to consider keeping him on a short leash. From what I saw on Saturday, the right side of the line was busting open huge holes, with Fryar frequently getting to the second level. Dawand may be more of an NFL type pass blocker, while Fryar is a college ground game specialist. Just a thought.

While I am hopeful that Fryar will play well when called upon, I am concerned that both starters Dawand Jones and Matt Jones on the offensive line are dealing with injuries and cannot get their normal "push" on running plays (we have seen that situation in games). Combine that with the running back question mark and I have lots of anxiety about the upcoming game against TTUN.

First and goal at the five and Arch is getting the ball.

1. Stroud has his voice.

2. As far as we know, ten guys DON'T have the flu.

3. Home game.

Those three factors will make a very big difference come November 26. This is our year.

I don't see any hobbled players playing this week, including Dawand Jones (he struggled to run out of the tunnel to sideline on the game opening entrance).

I expect to see a large list of "unavailables" including Trey, Miyan but maybe Chip comes back.

Good to see Josh play for an entire game.

The starter for ten games doesn't lose his job because of how one back-up played against a below average team. I seem to recall a certain game last season where Stroud sat out due to injury and McCord looked sharp against a bad team - 59-7 win over Akron.

Jones is the starter for a reason as was Stroud.

However, I am impressed with the continuity and the support amongst the players for one another. Culture is vital, and this article is an important reminder of that. Every coach can put an X and O on a chart - but can you build a team to execute it.

I seem to remember a game last year where OSU coaches incomprehensibly kept olinemen in a HUGE rivalry game where a guy wearing #97 in maze and blue literally BLEW up a 3 year starter at left tackle bc we couldn't replace them midgame. Play the best...if the others are injured, then Fryar is the best option. Just bc a lineman is big doesn't mean they're good if they're injured...
Play #70, please!

Opportunities answer questions. The talent is fine whe the opportunities present themselves. It won’t matter tho, we’ll have 50 threads about needing portal tackles in the off season

I thought Fryar was excellent. Hopefully it lights a fire under Dawand and he fights that much harder to keep his spot.

Bravo to those TRUE fans that spelled Dawand’s name correctly. To the rest of you, try harder.

Well you might win the fan spelling bee but you still have many things to improve on as a “true fan”. A misspelled compliment is better than perfectly spelled out crap.
