He's been a pleasure to watch. He runs with a different type of energy than Henderson and Williams do which is a great change of pace and he wants to go North-South quickly.
I know we've heard he has ball security issues in practice which could be why he hasn't received a large number of carries during the parts of games that matter, but he's shown when he does play that he's reliable and successful.
He's got a great future here at Ohio State.
To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
He is running like he has nothing to loses, playing with house money, footloose and fancy free.As a freshmen he doesn't know what he doesn't know and isn't encumbered by expectations - Heisman, 100 yard games, All Big Ten, etc..
The best thing about him is he doesn't cough up the football. Yes he runs hard and falls forward more often than not (my measure of a good RB). But the role he has as this point has been to spell the upperclassmen. That usually means it's late in the game where we are salting the game away. Not giving up the ball is really important to make sure the other team doesn't get hopes of coming back. He's done a great job there. Hoping that is his profile going forward

If the rumors that he has had some issues with ball security in practice is accurate and he has to play a major role in The Game you can bet ttun will be trying to strip it from him. Just have to be ready for that.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
I've been pretty impressed with what I've seen from Hayden. Glad he has had just enough action to get a feel for what he is capable of, but didnt have to lean on him too much early. He should be pretty fresh to finish out the season. I'm sure we all agree we want Willimas and Henderson in the biggest games, but I'm not near as concerned as I would normally be if Hayden is required to play a more prominent role.
He has all the god given talents required to be an effective RB (outstanding peripheral vision and quick feet to name a few) and he also has a natural knack for finding creases. I trust him
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
I love his vision and his patience in waiting for the hole to develop. Once he sees the hole, he hits it quickly. If the play doesn’t develop as intended…he takes as many yards as he can get.
That is some high praise, but I thought the same thing watching how quickly he hit the hole and his speed once he hits it. I am just glad we haven't had to make him our feature back and wear him down. He'll be pretty fresh for ishigan and hopefully, he'll just be a change of pace in the 4th when we are up by 30! Go Buckeyes!!
Hayden has been exceptional. Some kudos for Josh Fryar as well are definitely in order. Hayden was a direct a beneficiary of the former's great blocking. Both great players.
We will definitely need him with how dinged up Trey has been and now with Miyan wearing a boot and on crutches. So incredibly frustrating how badly this team got bit with injuries. But if I were him, I would be very excited for the opportunity to help the team, and get my name out there for the scouts. It's all about ball security.
So based on the stats for the 3 games he's been inserted he's been extremely productive.
Yes it's all him talent wise, but I think Alford deserves some props for bringing him into the program.
Good point about Alford. Hayden was "only" the 19th ranked RB in his cycle and kind of flew under the radar in my opinion. He was clearly Alford's target though and now it's clear why. Hayden runs with a purpose and is built very well. I think he's going to be special.

Fully agree … his recognition, north/south mindset and quickness/speed are very good. Reps/experience which will build his confidence more and a strong measure of S&C with Coach Marotti will do wonders for him.
That’s kind of what I like about him better than Williams or Henderson he hits the hole and goes doesn’t dance around which is Henderson and Williams weaknesses imo
With young backs the one thing that ALWAYS concerns me is ball security and Hayden really doesn't seem (so far) to have any issues in that regard, in fact just about that entire RB room seem to all have the right mindset when it comes to not fumbling. It's for sure a solid trait to have in your RB room.
The Excellence of Execution, the Best there is, the Best there was, the Best there ever will be!
Hayden has been amazing. He actually reminds me a bit of Trey Sermon in his gliding style. Smart runner. Great vision and quickness. He’s got nothing but upside. And if he can put on 10-15 pounds of muscle, look out.
As of now, with Henderson and Williams questionable, he could very well be the primary tailback vs Michigan. Being a freshman, that's a scary proposition. He's shown, albeit in relatively limited playing time and vs -all due respect- lesser opponents, he has what it takes to be a threat . . . . not to be taken lightly. But UM's defense will be nothing like he -and of course Stroud & Company- has been up against. I'm feeling a bit anxious about that prospect, but I'm more excited about the possibility Hayden having a truly breakout performance -thanks to a highly helpful, if not dominant, O-line-, along with CJ and his stable of thoroughbred receivers lighting it up . . . all for a BIG TIME VICTORY. How about this: Hayden outperforms Corum? We'll leave that up to our Defense to actualize.
Looks like another good get for Alford. He finds guys that run well behind 300+ O linemen. Kidding aside, we have a great room top to bottom. All our backs are exceptional in different ways, but Hayden seems to have several qualities at a pretty high level. Not as fast as Tre, not as powerful as Chop, but good mix of speed, balance, vision and decisiveness. If he proves able to squirt through the very tight and quick closing holes we will see starting Nov 26, he will be a force for the next couple of years. Hoping to have a variety of backs to throw at SCuX.
Wondering if this is the new normal in RB recruiting. Focusing on a top 5-20 (by position) running back that fit's your system - catching the ball out of the backfield, willing to pass pro, tough, decent speed. Avoids the big NIL trap that a top RB can demand/expect/want, too..
#5 like Wiley, he can get skinny like Wiley could, I see Wiley when I watch him. Maybe it's the number, but that's my impression. Like what he's shown so far.
Hayden is also a very willing pass blocker! That is obviously essential in this offense. He is a bit undersized currently, but he really sticks his nose in their in pass blocking. VERY glad he is a Buckeye and willing and able to contribute so early in his career!
I’ll add to the circle jerk, when he looks to the side line for the next play he has the JK Dobbins killer eyes. The game doesn’t seem to overwhelm him.
Twice this year, we have been in striking distance of having three players with 100+ yards in the same game. Hayden has been one of those 100+ guys both times. That says a lot to depth. I can imagine Hayden/Trayanum being a similar duo as Henderson and Williams.
Looking at things more broadly, as of now, we have four injured RBs, our best WR out for the year so far, sustained multiple injuries on both of our starting CBs throughout the year, the right half of our OL is sick/injured, and yet everyone, haters included, expect a CFP berth. Amazing.
Herbstreit called Meyer's 2014 run the best coaching season in history. If OSU goes the distance this season, I think Day warrants similar consideration. The adversity from injuries this year would have derailed many elite teams, but OSU keeps flying high.

Reminds me a little bit of Treyveon last year.

Trayanum had fumbling issues at his last school. We do not need that shit playing against Muchigan.

He reminds me of Maurice clarett

He runs like Michael Wiley.
He kinda reminds me of Pepe Pearson.

If you’re talking running style then maybe but size wise there’s hardly any similarities.

He is the real deal with an NFL father.

Very bright future for this young man. I think he has a really high ceiling. Just getting started.

When Hayden sees an opening, it looks like he was shot out of a cannon. Dude is quick to the hole.
Don't get butthurt just because I have an opinion.

He’s quick and decisive. I like what I’m seeing. Keep adding some size and look out!

... and that means two things

He's just not reliable, he's good. More reps and experience, Hayden is going to be a force. Keep hitting those holes quickly.

Round on the ends and "HI" in the middle. O-HI-O.
Hard not to feel bad for Evan Pryor; he would be getting much playing time if not for his injury.

We won a NC with a Hayden running the ball!

I really like the giddyup in his step. With the health of Henderson and Williams, we may see more of him in these last few games.

Like Haydan alot but for The Game I want Miyan toting the rock. His physical style is important
