This was actually my take as well, he at least didn't get those insanely untimely penalties that Dawand became known for at various points in the season.

All 22 film showed better footwork and he fired off the line lower (a lot like a guard). In DJs defense, he played a lot of game snaps by that point in the season and he’s 6’8.
Agreed! His movement and balance was really good. I also saw him getting the next-level blocks quickly. I really like what I saw out of Josh when he was in there.
Outside of Fryar, there are 3 kids at OT who were 4-star top-20 players at that position coming out of HS. You have to assume at least one of them makes a big jump this offseason...
I like seeing our own guys develop into good players. I’m glad cutler came on board to add to the competition at a couple spots. I think I’d rather see zen get a chance to play but if they bring another one to compete then so be it.
Our O-line will take a step back this year but will still be one of the better ones in the country. I agree we still need one more solid tackle from the portal.
By the end of the year, we should be functioning at an elite level. What worries me is the Notre Dame game which occurs at a time when we are moving toward elite status with inexperienced o-lineman and a brand new qb. Yikes. Hope the running game can excel to help with this transition. Henderson and Williams should be terrific this year and help set up the passing game. I have high hopes for our eventual prowess but am scared as to the rate at which this will take place.

I’m more concerned about Michigan and Penn State. If we lose to Notre Dame, I will be incredibly disappointed. We’re a top 3 program in the nation. Exactly the type of matchup Notre Dame basically hasn’t been able to win for the last 25 years. They finally found a good quarterback, but their receiver corps is mehhhhh
Fryar is going to kick some ass if his play at TE vs GA tells us anything. SO many hand wringing OSU fans should take a chill pill on losing 3 offensive linemen to tNFL. Everything is going to be alright...

If he plays like he did at RT in his one start there against IU last season we're going to be in good shape there as long as he stays healthy. LT is where the major question marks are right now.
Probably the most important player on the roster next year other than the quarterbacks, in the sense that his success or failure will decide the season
Fryer earned this start last season and only God knows why he did not start the most important games. He might have been the needed difference maker. I think we will be calling him great before next season ends. I hope so.
I really liked what I saw out of Fryar in limited action last season. So, I wouldn't be shocked to see him lock down a starting gig and excel in the role. He looked ready.
Woulda, shoulda, coulda but Wypler might be the biggest departure from the OL not because of draft stock but because it would galvanize the center of the OL and let coaches focus on tackle development
On a related note, I don’t understand why a player could not test the waters of the NFL, through pro days and combines and then declare their intentions. It’s like saying a graduating student can’t interview for a job while they are a student. Also, it’s not like the draft doesn’t change - usually after the first 5 picks it’s chaos

Go gett'em big fella.
CBus love
OSU going to need him to step up big next season. He probably should have started a couple games last year to let dudes heal.

Played well when he filled in for Dawand, I thought in some ways he played the position better.
It doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.
Can't say I disagree.

I wasn't paying close attention, are you able to expand on which ways he played it better? I heard good things, just don't know the specifics. Thanks.

Thats the thing that stood out to me, getting second-level blocks with a sense of urgency and aggression.

As the article stated, lots of unknowns on the O-line but I'm cautiously optimistic that Frye can put together and coach up a really solid unit.

The good news is that the ND game is not the season opener. I believe it will be week #4, so that should give the offense ample opportunity to gel.
If we get some CBs somewhere, we will be ready for ND any week next season.

Burke will show up. He played well against UGA. Just need one more.

We'll see how he plays...but I like what I have heard from the Big Cut. Grew up in Detroit so he gets it.
Justice delayed is justice denied....#FTP
ND and UM away...new QB...rebuilt line...underdeveloped defensive backfield...new play caller...
We will have some adversity to power through.
Sometimes adversity makes for the best football teams (i.e. 2002 & 2014).
Edit: Wisky at Camp Randall will not be an easy game. Don't sleep on the Fighting Fickell Badgers...

Josh Fryar will play well this fall. I have no doubt about that. Go Bucks!
