We are probably pretty close. I am concerned they can't get 30 against the UGA D and thus, was saying they need to hold them to 24. But if they get 30, they still would have to hold UGA to around 24 to win. How many point do you think OSU gets today?

I am thinking 31-34 points for Ohio State. The key will be if our defense can hold Georgia below 30 points. The Georgia offense is pretty solid and methodical. They don’t mind dinking and dunking down the field to score. We need pressure on Bennett and a couple of turnovers to win, IMO.
Everyone is focused on “best defense versus best offense.” I get it. But UGA’s offense is damn good and they are pretty sick of being slighted I imagine. Flip side is that last time we saw OSU’s d, they imploded. So you may be right. The concern with our O isn’t just UGA’s d, which is a real concern, but Day’s offenses tend to look pedestrian against any defense with a pulse, at least last two years. It is an interesting match on both sides of the ball. Overall, my concern is the old adage that defense wins championships, and if I am being honest, UGA’s defense is considerably better. I think for the offenses, while I give OSU the nod, are a lot closer than many believe.

Georgia had a total of eight sacks and three interceptions against Tennessee and LSU and won by a total of 33 points. Protect CJ, so he can settle, sit back and pick apart that 52nd ranked secondary.

Glad the day is here. Hoping for a competitive game & one that is free of injuries. Coming into this game, my primary wish is that the gambles a Knowles defense will take, pay off & if they don't, that coverage doesn't completely break.
This has been one of the weirder stretches I can remember... lose The Game with a collapse in the 2nd half, back into the playoff with not 1 but 2 of the teams ahead of you losing & listen to some somewhat insane views on OSU. To hear some talk on it, tOSU is now a MAC school trying to take on a top tier team/Goliath. There are cameras being found & rumor mills run amok. It's wild.
With the above said, there is only one thing that spells some problems here and/or gives credibility to the thought this team is going downhill, losing this game in bad fashion. There is absolutely zero allowance for any of that & if the doors were to be blown off, it is a direct indictment of the coaching staff. Ryan Day, get after it.
Georgia has not played a single team this year with the capabilities of this one & if OSU plays at a great level, we win. It really is that simple.
I've got OSU 42 Georgia 27. Even with the coverage breakdown against Michigan and a few others through the year, this D is lightyears improved from where it was. There will be misses but I do believe there will be more that get home & that will be the difference in the game.

I never understood this. Ohio State was one of the favorites to win a title when the year began and Vegas odds still have them as 3rd most likely). Yes, they lost to TTUN so their path to playoffs wasn’t conventional. But this team’s goal was always to win a title, any many felt this team was talented enough to do it. When you say “playing with house money,‘ you are really saying OSU Is just happy to be here, win or lose. I promise you the guys in the locker room do not feel that way.

Dear fear- upvote from me and I concur. Another phrase that needs to be retired is “Buckeye Nation” because I don’t know when I first heard it but it was about another team in another sport. Maybe Red Sox nation, or Gators Nation. I can’t remember I am too old but it seems like it was way back before the internet. I grew up in the 80's and 90's. Cooper was crushing. Imagine watching the Joe Germaine Rose Bowl against previously undefeated Arizona State in a dark, loud, Air Force Base enlisted club in England. Not a lot of Ohio State fans there that night at Mildenhall. Aside from that, there were a lot of soul crushing games with teams that should have competed for natty's. I am not just saying that. With Cooper you never really thought no matter how much better we were, that Ohio State could beat the team up north or win vs. the SEC. Tressell changed that. And then Urban. I refuse to believe that Day is on the same level as Coop. I am not scared of UGa or TTUN. Bring it on. 25 years ago, this would have been a wasted opportunity (with a coach who still is the winningest in Ohio State history in the last 30 years) but who never won the big one. Day is not Cooper. It is not the 90's over again, and Ohio State has shown it can go toe to toe with SEC talent. I want TTUN. I want these next two games. New Year’s Day on the other hand is my 2nd favorite holiday (really, how can any day be better than Thanksgiving?!). It shouldn't be, but most people aren't giving us a real chance to win the game. I asked a non OSU fan at work yesterday if they were going to watch the game, he said the only way UGA loses is if the game is fixed LOL. "Shock the world" is definitely too much, but it would shock a hell of a lot of average college football fans if we win.
Day has to win this to prove he's a big game coach. His 2020 Clemson win is fast becoming the equivalent of JT's 2014 MSU win. We keep pointing to "If Day can coach like that Clemson game". He hasn't done it since then though just like JT never played as well as he did against MSU.

I think that it will take 30 points minimum for Ohio State to win this game. Hopefully the offense is firing on all cylinders tonight.
We are probably pretty close. I am concerned they can't get 30 against the UGA D and thus, was saying they need to hold them to 24. But if they get 30, they still would have to hold UGA to around 24 to win. How many point do you think OSU gets today?

I am thinking 31-34 points for Ohio State. The key will be if our defense can hold Georgia below 30 points. The Georgia offense is pretty solid and methodical. They don’t mind dinking and dunking down the field to score. We need pressure on Bennett and a couple of turnovers to win, IMO.
Everyone is focused on “best defense versus best offense.” I get it. But UGA’s offense is damn good and they are pretty sick of being slighted I imagine. Flip side is that last time we saw OSU’s d, they imploded. So you may be right. The concern with our O isn’t just UGA’s d, which is a real concern, but Day’s offenses tend to look pedestrian against any defense with a pulse, at least last two years. It is an interesting match on both sides of the ball. Overall, my concern is the old adage that defense wins championships, and if I am being honest, UGA’s defense is considerably better. I think for the offenses, while I give OSU the nod, are a lot closer than many believe.

The fact that an Ohio state win would "shock the world" is absolutely ridiculous given the talent on both teams is basically equal, if it doesn't favor OSU.
True, except that UGA is defending champs, SEC dominance, home game for them, and OSU coming off a loss. Whatever, use it as motivation. Hope they play angry with an edge, something to prove. These games often come down to a few plays and who wants it more. Hope that is us.

DJ went really hard at Jim Tressel back in the day, and it probably colored my view of him for the rest of his tenure.
His writing improved dramatically over time but I was relieved to see him replaced. His antics since have shown he still maintains a crude edge; the type of house style that is magnified by other fan bases as exemplary of our collectively "low class" values. *of course* he was the one to leak Urban's finger dance.

Glad the day is here. Hoping for a competitive game & one that is free of injuries. Coming into this game, my primary wish is that the gambles a Knowles defense will take, pay off & if they don't, that coverage doesn't completely break.
This has been one of the weirder stretches I can remember... lose The Game with a collapse in the 2nd half, back into the playoff with not 1 but 2 of the teams ahead of you losing & listen to some somewhat insane views on OSU. To hear some talk on it, tOSU is now a MAC school trying to take on a top tier team/Goliath. There are cameras being found & rumor mills run amok. It's wild.
With the above said, there is only one thing that spells some problems here and/or gives credibility to the thought this team is going downhill, losing this game in bad fashion. There is absolutely zero allowance for any of that & if the doors were to be blown off, it is a direct indictment of the coaching staff. Ryan Day, get after it.
Georgia has not played a single team this year with the capabilities of this one & if OSU plays at a great level, we win. It really is that simple.
I've got OSU 42 Georgia 27. Even with the coverage breakdown against Michigan and a few others through the year, this D is lightyears improved from where it was. There will be misses but I do believe there will be more that get home & that will be the difference in the game.
Bucks - I remember hearing all the garbage spewed about our Buckeyes before the Natty in 2002 against Miami - We so not belong! Miami is too fast and strong!!! They will wipe the field with us!!! Heard the same thing in 2014 before Bama and even the Ducks!!! Those two games turned out very well for our Buckeyes!!!

I never understood this. Ohio State was one of the favorites to win a title when the year began and Vegas odds still have them as 3rd most likely). Yes, they lost to TTUN so their path to playoffs wasn’t conventional. But this team’s goal was always to win a title, any many felt this team was talented enough to do it. When you say “playing with house money,‘ you are really saying OSU Is just happy to be here, win or lose. I promise you the guys in the locker room do not feel that way.

Dear fear- upvote from me and I concur. Another phrase that needs to be retired is “Buckeye Nation” because I don’t know when I first heard it but it was about another team in another sport. Maybe Red Sox nation, or Gators Nation. I can’t remember I am too old but it seems like it was way back before the internet. Regardless, nation implies everyone together, so singling out Buckeyes or Red Sox or anybody as nation seems to be wrong from the start. How about happy new year for American nation.

I grew up in the 80's and 90's. Cooper was crushing. Imagine watching the Joe Germaine Rose Bowl against previously undefeated Arizona State in a dark, loud, Air Force Base enlisted club in England. Not a lot of Ohio State fans there that night at Mildenhall. Aside from that, there were a lot of soul crushing games with teams that should have competed for natty's. I am not just saying that. With Cooper you never really thought no matter how much better we were, that Ohio State could beat the team up north or win vs. the SEC. Tressell changed that. And then Urban. I refuse to believe that Day is on the same level as Coop. I am not scared of UGa or TTUN. Bring it on. 25 years ago, this would have been a wasted opportunity (with a coach who still is the winningest in Ohio State history in the last 30 years) but who never won the big one. Day is not Cooper. It is not the 90's over again, and Ohio State has shown it can go toe to toe with SEC talent. I want TTUN. I want these next two games. Somehow, winning the natty will be more if we go through Harbaugh to get it!!!!!! Bring it on, GO BUCKS

Everyone talking about the offense but I believe this game will come down to defense. OSU D line needs to pressure Bennett early and often, force a mistake, get a few sacks. LB and Safety need to play their best game of the year, blanket the TE’s and RB out of the backfield. Don’t try to be a hero, no missed tackles. If OSU defense can play fast and aggressive without shooting themselves in the foot, I see the Buckeyes winning. OSU 31 GA 28

Agree with your sentiment, Chase, about New Year’s Eve. Have always preferred to spend it at home with family watching a favorite movie. New Year’s Day on the other hand is my 2nd favorite holiday (really, how can any day be better than Thanksgiving?!). Nothing is sweeter than those crisp SoCal New Year’s Day mornings watching TBDBITL make the turn from Orange Grove Blvd onto Colorado Blvd. The post parade walk down to the Rose Bowl. And the sun setting in the San Gabriel Mts, always seemingly reflecting scarlet and gray hues. Now that’s magical! And if we’ve not traveled with the Buckeyes to a Bowl Game, few things are better than a big pot of Cincinnati Chili simmering on the stove, and a full day of college football on the slate. I asked a non OSU fan at work yesterday if they were going to watch the game, he said the only way UGA loses is if the game is fixed LOL.
