HS
fear_the_nut70's picture

Not even close.  Stroud is actually a passer (not bad for a guy a significant portion of this base would have benched after week 3 two seasons ago).  Duggan's one moment, the open bomb, was an under thrown ball.  He is a running quarterback who throws it some.  He is a better version of Denard Robinson.  Don't get me wrong, the kid has the heart of a champion, he just isn't a passing QB, and I think he has a very dim future at the next level.  I have said this a million times, but beware of B12 QB's with gaudy numbers, most of them don't work out (Mayfield, Rudolph, Murray, to name a few).  Mahomes is the exception to the rule...

And yet, the B1G champions lost to them. OSU had no business losing to Michigan, and we had Georgia on the ropes, but somehow let it slip away.

I checked out MGO yesterday.  We aren't winning this one.  Remember, their championship is "Ohio State not winning it all." I get being happy you beat OSU, but many were posting yesterday "you think we are suffering, what about Ohio State fans."  Me, I didn't think about the weasels at all yesterday because I don't give a fuck about them (save one day a year).  Oh, and amidst rumors of his departure and NCAA violations, a small but round faction are calling for Jimmy to be fired again.  No, I'm not kidding.

Stover had some issues late in the season because of injuries. We will probably never know how beat up he was but the elbow brace, along with a leg injury, seemed to hamper him.

One request for Stover going into next season…quit trying to leap defensive players. He took several hard hits/landings during the season which probably accumulated over time. Stay on the ground and avoid getting flipped and landing awkwardly.

TCU was overmatched at every position on the field.  Cant wait to see what Texas and OU will look like when they join the SEC.  going to be some lean years for those two programs and i think in the end they will regret joining the SEC.  dont see them sniffing and SEC championship and they had a better shot getting in the playoff in the BIG 12.  I could see Texas making a few waves because of the Texas recruiting base and the donor money, but not sure Sark will last long enough to reap those benefits.

Big B

HS
jonesteam04's picture

Ah but remember we are going to a 12 team playoff so they just need to be the 3rd and 4th best team in SEC and they will get in every year. Right now it's only Bama and GA that are powerhouses in the SEC so they should easily be 3rd and 4th...well maybe not UO they are garbage.

HS
mb5599's picture

they should easily be 3rd and 4th.

Not so sure about that.  I think LSU, Arkansas, Tennessee, and probably Texas A&M (Jimbo cant continue to fuck it up can he?) are better than Texas or OU.  There could be up and down years where they sneak in, but I think they are in for a long slog.  Texas will get there faster due to its financial resources, but it will take them a while.  Hell, Ole Miss and Auburn may make the turn around before Texas/OU sniff the playoffs.

For my part, it's not "pain" per se, it's the frustration of having to try and explain "why" bad calls make the difference in big games (CONSISTENTLY!!) when OSU is playing on a big stage such as the 2019 semi vs Clemson or this year's semi vs TTDS (that team down south which is what I'm calling them now, fam. We have a NEW rival. Fuck Georgia). You could point to plenty other games where massively bad calls seemingly go ONLY one way, and at the most crucial parts of the game, but I'd defy you to explain them in any way that doesn't suggest a big ole conspiracy. But the reality is that it is NOT a few calls during gameplay, it's the entire effing calendar year! It's beginning TODAY. The narrative of TTDS being "unstoppable" is happening LIVE on ESPN today! It's already "TTDS vs Alabama" and is TTDS the new dynasty? You'd THINK just for some sort of conversational topic "how the Buckeyes managed to play TTDS so well" and "were the Buckeyes actually really good and should we have them in the same conversation with TTDS and Alabama" even to keep things interesting. BUT NO! It's just a big SEC circle jerk. It wouldn't matter but for the fact that THESE are the folks that run college football. They run the bowls, the media, the polls, EVERYTHING. I'm telling you, we've already lost the propaganda war for 2023's football season and the season hasn't even started yet. OHIO AGAINST THE WORLD.

Kirby didn't have any trouble running up the score so his second team - especially QB - could get some real game experience. We need to try it.

Corum is coming back so harbaugh can run him 40 times a game and have him worn out for November. That should really help his draft stock for next year. But then again, perhaps harbaugh is playing 4D chess and plans to intentionally drive his draft stock down so he can draft him for whatever nfl team he ends coaching. LOL

UGA got it done. Good for Dawgs fans. Annoyance at the refs aside, OSU should have won that game. They had plenty of opportunities despite any bad calls and still didn't get it done. If you want to win championships, you have to capitalize on opportunities as they're presented - UGA did, OSU didn't, simple as that. Call it sour grapes, fairweather, whatever you want, but I am done going into any season with expectations of OSU winning a title. Throughout my 38 years OSU has fumbled the bag more than any team in CFB - 95, 96, 98, 03, 06, 07, 10, 13, 15, 19, 20, 22. All are years where OSU legitimately could/should have won the title and flopped. And yes, I know most teams flop and winning the title is hard and only one team can win each year, but OSU has had more legitimate opportunities and has consistently been on the cusp more than any other program over that stretch and has an incredibly high choke rate. 98, 06, 13, 15, 19, and now 22 are especially egregious.

HS
UpIrons's picture

I don't see any official result numbers as of yet but I am willing to bet that the viewership for last nights CFP game was lower than that of the OSU UGA game on NYE. Marvin Harrison is head and shoulders better than JSN. Seeing how Marvin showed up in his first start in the Rose Bowl, makes you wonder what could have been if they played him last year as a freshman all year. We knew his greatness was there during the year, his work ethic - It showed in his workout videos.

HS

I think he was talent wise better, his workout videos showed the talent he had before the season began.

Yes, I do agree, he wouldn't have started over JSN's experience. JSN wasn't targeted much until about the Nebraska game, that's when he showed out, as coaches began to cover Olave and Wilson more. MJH should have had more playing time last year over JSN. Harrison is the best recevier most of us will ever see.

He has the ability to make something happen after the catch that Marvin has yet to show. MHJ will be the best WR in CFB next year, but the JSN disrespect is absurd. Generally speaking, on-field production tells a more compelling story than workout videos / routes on air.
