“I have yet to be in a game where luck was involved. Well-prepared players make plays. I have yet to be in a game where the most prepared team didn't win.” -Urban Meyer-
Why would anyone call that when the game was over. He was tackled and had no chance. The guy came in for no reason to make that targeting and the refs would not award the team that does not deserve it.
That was targeting all season - and probably was targeting if earlier in the game... I don't think they wanted to call it and affect the game that much. I'm cool with the no-call - don't get me wrong!
I didnt see the one in your game, but in Michigan's case I find it hard to believe they would've won the game. 2 minute offense and Michigan don't go together at all. Harbaugh let way too much time go on the drive that cut it to 51-45. I believe there was over 7 minutes left from inside TCUs 35 yard line and by time they scored I wanna say it was under 3 minutes. I didnt have any confidence whatsoever that Michigan would've scored in that scenario had they called it targeting. I'm one of those weird Michigan fans I guess that refuses to say things like the refs are the reason we lost, or what I just saw on the boards that one of the refs graduated from OSU supposedly...Who cares. The refs call it down at the 1, you dont fumble. You dont like the non targeting call? Don't snap the ball when your QB is looking to the sideline. Or get a stop on the first set of downs...2nd and 8 and TCU gets 7 yards up the middle to setup an easy 3rd down conversion making Harbaugh finally burn all the timeouts. Inexcusable.
...even you said it though: "before he had control of the ball". He can only be down when he has possession of the ball.
That was a bad call. If that had happened to us, we'd have been similarly angry. They had opportunities to overcome the bad call (like, perhaps not fumbling the handoff on the 1 yard line!) but it was indeed a bad call.
How about the bogus roughing the passer and pass interference penalties at the end of the half that gifted them 30 yards, 2 first downs and an eventual field goal. An extra TD and two point conversion would still left them 1 short.
It wasn't a great call IMO either but 1st and goal on the inch line and not only do you fumble, but you had a converted LB playing RB which is just plain stupid. All i've heard for half a season is Mullings is a natural at RB, but I figured he would fumble seeing as he wasn't getting reps all season at the position. Michigan definitely missed Corum, but the 2 biggest plays to me were JJs pick 6s. As bad as Michigan's defense played, if JJ doesn't throw those Michigan probably doesn't give up 51pts. Minter made some strange defensive calls in this game, looking alot like Knowles in The Game when he didn't have to. Duggan at one point was something like 8-21 passing before he felt the need to start sending all out blitzes. But what pisses me off more than anything is once again Michigan players talking before games and not backing it up, and then JJ not being able to sit and answer reporters questions it just makes him seem like an immature punk. He had been getting away with some questionable throws/decisions down the stretch and it caught up to him in this game. Hopefully he learns and matures from it but somehow I doubt it.
Harbaugh’s clock management was horrible. A little humble pie for JJ, two pick sixes and a fumble on the last play. He yapped about running it down TCUs throat during the week, and communicating with his family during the game that they’d win. Time to grow up
You're talking about a Xichigan Xan... they wouldn't know anything about humility, respect, decency.... look at Howard.... look at Lewan... Hart... the list is endless really....
"Captain, over here, I've found someth... AHHHH!!!!!!"
There's clowns in every program i'm not going to start naming former Buckeyes. I think Lewan and to a certain extent Howard never grew up with some of the things they say, however I wouldnt put Hart in that category. I haven't seen any quote from him in any kind of disrespectful manner since he was 20-21 years old.
I've been calling THIS all week. They were SO busy running their mouths about how they were going to play for the natty. They forgot they had to get to the final first. Great job TCU.
Yeah...I had to listen to a few idiot work friends talking about how after they win it all this year, they should easily be back in it next year and they were going to have parties for both. I can't wait for Monday to ask how the party planning is going...
1-6 not really any better considering they beat an uninterested Florida team. There's something to Harbaugh in bowl games thats for sure, but Michigan has also been historically abysmal in bowl games. It's tough to win playoff games, you guys are 1-4 since winning the title in 2014 I believe. I think we're going to see alot more upsets going to 8 teams because the better team doesn't always play like it. I said after Michigan won that I wouldn't want to play you again, because Michigan wasn't and isn't 22 points better than Ohio State this year. Look at TCU, they beat KSU 38-28 in regular season but lost the rematch. Very frustrating that Michigan made so many mistakes, TCU is better than I thought they were...But at the same time if Michigan made the same errors against OSU or Georgia it would've been a blowout. If Georgia doesn't make collasal mistakes they should win comfortably.
We finally have an answer for the question those rotten-rat bastards up north love asking: "Who's got it better than us?" At the moment, TCU, Georgia, and OSU ALL do. Go Bucks! Screw Blue!
TCU is good enough to capitalize on fatal mistakes, and stupid defensive playcalling...Just as Michigan capitalized on OSUs all out blitzing. TCU is a good team, maybe even really good...But Georgia and OSU both destroy Michigan if we did those things against either team.
I don't think so, I get why you're saying that but lets remember that Hooker was hurt otherwise Milton doesn't even play. And the other reason is the system...Michigan will always be a run first team under Harbaugh, Milton is more suited to a gunslinger type offense. Michigan will be fine with JJ the player, but he definitely needs to be more humble. This was his first full season as the starter, and I felt he played about as well as you can play considering the fact that Harbaugh never lets him get into a rhythm. I'm hoping next year Michigan will be much more balanced/explosive in the passing game especially if Corum doesn't return. I don't think Edwards can last a season carrying it 30 times a game, hell even Corum couldn't. I still see the Big10/playoffs coming down to both teams next year. OSU won't ever have a truly down year(Outside of 2011) which is something I think you guys take for granted.
Also would add that Milton wasn't "run off" he didn't play well and was benched. Instead of fighting he wanted to transfer right away. I'm sure he expected to win the Tennessee job, and when he didn't maybe he matured some and decided transferring again wasn't the right thing to do.
Oh I wasn't aware programs got to decide who they wanted to play in the semi's. Not Michigan's fault that TCU lost the Big12 championship and the committee kept them in the same spot. I'm not so sure Georgia destroys TCU. They were much more physical than the national media and certainly Michigan gave them credit for. As we've seen, the better teams don't always win and that goes for OSU and Michigan.

Oh poor JJ....I guess smash mouth football works both ways...freaking hilarious! Icing on the cake we are giving GA a game!!

Just a reminder; Ohio State is 2-0 with a national championship in their first two playoff games. Michigan is 0-2 choke jobs.
Shatinkycat1
They never had a chance vs UGA
Hahahahahahahahahaha!
... and that means two things
Good riddance to bad rubbish. Congratulations to TCU, played a great game.
TCU needs to plant a flag on them.
I want to get you guys opinion on the targeting call at the end of that game do you guys think it was targeting or no?
I thought it was. Still glad they lost!
Go Bucks!!!
David Peck
I thought the hit was both shoulder pads and helmet - biases are biases.
There was a non-call forward pass on Michigan that exact same play. The call equaled itself out.
Shatinkycat1
I thought the same at first but it was behind the line of scrimmage, I believe, which makes the only forward pass and thus legal.
Ohio State > *ichigan Day > Hairbaugh
It was legal.
Why would anyone call that when the game was over. He was tackled and had no chance. The guy came in for no reason to make that targeting and the refs would not award the team that does not deserve it.

Yes - but fuck TTUN
Targeting. Fuck Michigan.
SalemBuckeye
I thought it was targeting. Two no-call targeting calls against two B1G teams in back to back games ended up costing both teams the game.

Sad to see JJ so dejected... not!
First time I've ever seen that guy show any semblance of humility, but more like humiliation in this case.
Was hoping to beat them but a Michigan loss is always a good way to start the new year

Xichigan still a 2nd half team, doe. Outscored Texas Christian 39-30.

I hate Michigan as much as anyone but the difference in the game was that missed touchdown. That was a shit call
His knee was clearly down on the 1 yard line before he had control of the ball.
Don't be a xichigan homer.
Princess Buckeye

Not as bad as the RTP they gave McCarthy on the next drive, ref’s incompetence benefited both teams in that game
How about the bogus roughing the passer and pass interference penalties at the end of the half that gifted them 30 yards, 2 first downs and an eventual field goal. An extra TD and two point conversion would still left them 1 short.

Ohio State Football isnt a matter of life or death, its much more serious than that.
Fuck michigan forever and always.

I’m very ok with this outcome
And yet we still lost to them! How?
That's right, that's right, we bad
Lame they stopped showing JJ’s parents once it was clear TCU was going to win

Congrats to Michigan on their regular season title. I’ve been manifesting this nightmare scenario for weeks and it’s a half and then a game away.
lets fucking go boys.
Proudly dispensing unbridled arrogance since 1983.
Looks like Harbaugh still has the choke magic. 1-6 in bowl games at Michigan.

Given how good Joe Milton looked for Tennessee last night, I think Harbaugh ran off the wrong QB.
