I must have missed your sarcasm font ?? Hairball a great coach because he's won a couple of games against OSU - don't be ridiculous .... the man is a certifiable fruit loop ..... he knows it's in his best interest to leave ....
Coach of the year in the NFL, CFB, and the B10. Took USD from nothing to great. Took Stanford from nothing to #4 in the country and beating USC along the way in the single greatest upset in D-1 history as 45 pt. dogs. Took the Niners from terrible to 3 straight NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl. Took Michigan from mediocre to 2 straight B10 Titles and 2 straight CFP appearances. And he beat OSU twice in a row while having a decided talent disadvantage - that's coaching.
Harbaugh may be all sorts of quirky, but he is undeniably a fantastic football coach.

I think Harbaugh’s chances of getting an NFL offer are al little better than you winning the lottery. The Broncos have already reached out to him and the Colts are reportedly interested as well. He’s got a proven track record in the NFL and will be a popular name in coaching searches. This report is just saying if someone offers, he will accept and there’s a very good chance he will get an offer. Even if he doesn’t, recruits will have to wonder if he will be the coach if they commit to Michigan.
Funny. The guy on third base just got picked off twice in a row.

True. But while it's not "bragging rights" per se, he can at least tell himself that he did what he set out to accomplish. When he was hired by *ichigan, the express goal was to stabilize the program after two disastrous hires, get them back to beating Ohio State, and make them nationally relevant again - and he's done that. Maybe it took longer than anybody expected and was a bumpy ride, but he's got the program competing at a national title caliber level again and left them firmly in position to succeed going forwards.

The point made is that Harbaugh lucked out when after Harbaugh's 2020 season and having his salary cut in half, his older brother sent him an up-and-coming defensive coach (McDonald) who brought in an NFL system and turned the defense around. when he proved to be a success, John took him right back and replaced him with another up-and-comer - at this point, the Ravens are using UM as a coaching minor league/testing ground and it's worked out well for UM the past 2 years.
Don't mistake the above as completely dismissing Harbaugh - for all of his crazy antics, his overall record as a HC is really good.
The difference between the last few years and right now is the inner circle folks... last few years a rumor would start, and the beat reporter guys were like nothing really much to this... but today, most of the same folks are like, there's some smoke this time, worried etc etc..
Well, the difference.. "if he's offered the job".. lot of people last year said he left for that Minny visit fully planning on leaving, and then we found out later he was just a pawn in the hiring process, and they never wanted him or offered him the gig..
If he goes to a meeting this year, he's gone imo...
Text from a friend who's inner circle adjacent up there... "smoke is real this year"....
Word on the street is he bombed the interview by just showing up thinking he had the job. Had he taken it seriously he may have been the vikings coach this year
Successful people do what they have to, whether they feel like it or not
At that level, its more about relationship building/networking and not resume or selling yourself; as owners already know your record and capabilities. But, Harbaugh is an odd cat, I can see him saying something that an owner may feel is perplexing.....
Ill play... He brought the 49's to the Super Bowl. He got UM to the CFP twice with different DC and OC... His personality ( I think he has some form of very mild Aspergers) I don't like him because he played for and is the HC of scUM but he is a heck of a coach.
In fairness, he should have went to 3 straight Super Bowls, and if Tedd Ginn could have hit the return, he beats his brother.
One of the 2 NFC Championship game losses was a complete fluke, where his PR fumbled 2 punts that cost them the game. The other loss was flukey as well. Those 49er teams were great.
Believe he knows he has taken TTUN as far as he can. Tried his damnest previously to get out of Ann Arbor, NFL wasn’t biting. May be a different story now that he has had some success the past two straight years.
Also, he is 2-0 against OSU his last two years - he will hang his hat on that. He will dismiss the fact that overall he is 2-5 and claiming COVID, he punked out of a 2020 ass whopping. A true Michigan Man.
As a fairly recent colts fan (trying to make Indy home) I have very mixed emotions about this. I guess it will give me an excuse to go back to the Bengals.
Welcome to Indiana. I’ve been here for almost 30 years now. A little advice though, don’t bother with the local pro/college teams. The only thing they are consistently good at is being disappointing.
I was thinking the same thing. If he is using the bargaining tool of losing in the semifinals of the playoffs two years in a row be may be barking up the wrong tree. Win it all and we will talk until then enjoy your 8 million, or whatever he makes, and enjoy your bonuses for certain things. I could see him taking the Indy job if they decide Saturday is not the answer. Denver, I would not wish that even on him!
I hope he does. It’s not looking good for us if he stays, if we’re being honest with ourselves. He’s a weirdo but he tends to win wherever he goes eventually.
Like others have stated, he typically does this when he wants more money or something from his bosses. That much we know!
He wins but he has never won it all. Not at Division II, not in the FBS (twice), not in the pros. I think he is destined to be the proverbial bridesmaid but never the bride.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
He may not win it all, but he’s getting damn close now. 13-1 and a good portion of that team returning. I don’t feel good at all about the game in AA next season; although that could change if the defensive backfield looks different (players and ability) and our new QB can play well.
They were upset by TCU, blown out last year by GA, even if they got past TCU they get blown out by GA, he's not close to winning it all, they're improved but let's not kid ourselves they're not world beaters and never will be, they actually don't return that much of you look, they'll be our little brother for the foreseeable future, and yes I saw the last 2 games we played against them, little brother wins every now and then, just ask Kevin O'Shea, Danny beat him down cherry hill after school once.
Prior to 2021, when UM wasn't beating OSU, their more vocal fans would go on about how much more class they had. Winning seemed to throw "class" out the door. They honestly can use better leadership.
I hope he stays with TTUN. He good for college football, good for the rivalry. Why take an NFL job when you can get 24 #1 draft picks every year. College is better than NFL. He’ll be successful anywhere he goes because he is a good coach and produces a winner. Hope he stays though.
That’s the problem- he doesn’t get 24 first round picks because he’s a crappy and lazy recruiter. He doesn’t want to do it. He’s ready to go back to the NFL.
I'll believe it when I see it. He's in an almost ideal situation for him. Plus he hasn't made his goal of winning a Naty. On the other hand, his stock may never be higher.
I think he's hit his ceiling at Michigan. Despite his success over the past two years, Michigan still can't get a top ten class and needs to use the portal to plug in holes. Now add NIL and Michigan's war chest is basically a jar full of coins compared to other programs. He's not getting any younger so the window back to the NFL might start closing. I wouldn't touch the Broncos job with a 10' pole and the Colts might be the best option. Or does he use this as another "we need to look at my current contract"
I personally don't care. Our recent slump against them has as much to do with our own coaching and unforced errors as it does with any upswing in their program. If we eliminate these concerns, we will be back to our winning ways. If not, we won't.
Looking at it from Crazy Jimmy's perspective, however, I think it makes sense to go now while he can command a good salary and control over a new team. The last two years make us forget that he was perhaps above average and unable to win big games for the first six or so years in the TTUN program. And that was all while pulling dirty tricks like hiring recruits' coaches, giving recruits' parents jobs and ducking a sublime butt-kicking when all the cards were stacked against him like the most pathetic, yellow-bellied coward ever to disgrace a football program and humanity.
"The minute we stop expecting greatness, we become Wisconsin."
I wouldn't mind him. I think the Browns are similar enough to the 49ers rosters he won big with for him to do similar things here, the team is already built to his ideal specs. I would even argue that his 49ers teams were built in the ideal image of an AFC North squad.
Hahaha....So the "Magical Ride" season ultimately failed and now the Big Cheese is looking to cut his losses. Shocker!
"Michigan Man" my ass!
Good riddance, his luck against Ohio State was going to come to an end next year anyway. See you next year in Ann Arbor, McDipshit! You will not be as fortunate this time son, I promise you!
I know we all know what a dick the Hairball is, but here’s a little anecdote: One of his starter this year got hurt early (won’t name the kid….) and wasn’t progressing with the team doctors. He sought out a second opinion bee the objections of the coaches/program and was iced out after that. He’s now transferring. I’d hate to see what Michigan would have done with a situation like Harry Miller’s….
EXACTLY what I was thinking. Didn't they make him take a significant pay cut 2 years ago and hire new coordinators? Maybe he goes, but I think this is more of a money play to get him to $9-10M / year.
I think he’s gone. I also think he’s a hell of an NFL coach and I’d love to see him walking Cleveland’s sideline next year. Now excuse me I’m going to go throw up.
Guess we'll see. Moreover, what the he// is targeting? Reversed vs UGA then Bryson Shaw w/a textbook crown to the head and...nothing. Now they are saying the forehead to the head is not illegal (?). I give up.
Two years ago I was ready to start a Go Fund Me to get him to stay. After last 2 years wouldn't mind seeing him go although that prick leaving on a 2 game win streak would irritate me. Either way he seems like he has no interest in staying and wants to leverage his recent success for an NFL gig.
Harbaugh is a weird dude. But don't kid yourself, he's a great coach that wins every where he goes. He's clearly flipped the rivalry, and Ryan Day can't beat him. If he accepts an NFL job, I'd take a sigh of relief. That would be great news for us. The longer he's there, the longer the rivalry will be in their favor. He's a better coach than Day, has more experience.
I am kind of surprised by this. It seemed to me he has finally "settled in" and was staying up there till he retired. Maybe he really wants another shot at winning a Super Bowl. Money sense it would be a lateral move at best to the NFL wouldn't it? Does he just like the attention/feeling wanted?
"Revenge is a dish best served cold." - Old Klingon proverb
I am not a fan of Harbaugh. I would not blame any college coach of trying to leave and go to the NFL College sports, of which I love, has turned into a shit show with the NIL and the portal. This will get worse before it gets better
All jokes aside, Harbaugh has matured and developed into a pretty solid HC. I razz him as much as anyone on here but he’s really turned it around in Ann Arbor—who is a well known whore. Good luck in Denver!
I’m trying to be nice in 2023. Turn over a new leaf in my anonymous 11w comment board rants. I did call Ann Arbor a whore so I have some work to do. It’s a journey. :)
It was clear Harbaugh wanted out after last year. I don’t know if he doesn’t like recruiting, if the pay cut he was forced to take created some hard feelings, or if it’s something else (like just being an NFL guy vs college), but he wants back in the league. He told his own guys that he was leaving if the job offered and I’m sure there’s an NFL team that will take him. I’m a Washington fan and I would take Harbaugh over Rivera.
The one concern with him leaving is they could get a young, hungry coach who loves recruiting and will generate excitement within the community and really get the NIL thing going. Then again, they could mess up and hire someone who returns them to the Michigan team from the previous 15 years. I’m okay with that.
One of my family members from Michigan asked why I only post negative stuff about her team. I said, yeah, Harbaugh has the same bowl record as John Cooper at OSU after 7 years.
Any time you give a man something he doesn't earn, you cheapen him. Our kids earn what they get, and that includes respect - Woody Hayes
Saw this and thought 11W was recycling stories from last year. Would the Broncos really be dumb enough to hire Jimmy after the train wreck they had with Hackett. That dude was not ready to be a head coach. Presume the Broncos would be able to sniff out Jimmy’s douchiness if the actually interviewed him.
This seems to be an annual occurrence with JH. With John U Bacon coming out and saying that there is truth behind the rumor of Harbaugh wanting to go to the NFL (and it happening quickly, if it does get done), you have to wonder how solidified the 2024 class remains for them. To me, he is doing that team a disservice by staying and continuing to stoke the flames every off-season. As an Ohio State fan, I'm not shedding a tear, though.
Until we fix our own problems we should stop getting all giddy about the potential problems others have. And we have problems. We are still recruiting at a high level but with our late season woes, due almost exclusively to coaching errors, and NIL (who said "jar of coins"? That was a good one) we are treading on thin ice.
I voiced concerns prior to the season that I don't think Knowles is the answer or at least he isn't going to turn the defense around as fast as some imagine he would for that 2 million dollar price tag. Does he get a year 3 if we see his defenses collapse in big moments again? The defense at the end of the overall season was mildly better than the Coombs mess.
Although that is the first time i've seen Day's offense look competent vs a good to great defense with comparable players in over two years. Maybe he figured something out.
If Knowles defense don’t improve next year I don’t think he gets a third year. We had injuries on defense this year also. I heard they beat themselves up too much over the offseason after listening to the soft team stuff.
I'll believe it when I see the headlines. I personally don't think he leaves. He's living rent free in Ryan Day's head, similar to how UFM did Jim for 5 years. I just don't Jimmy leaving, now...
"There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you."
IF (note all caps and italics) Hairball were to leave Michigan, I’m glad that it will be after Fickell has already accepted a promotion from Cincinnati. If TTUN had a need for a head coach and Fickell was still at UC he would have been at the top of their list. Fickell can come home from Wisconsin but never from Ann Arbor. And for those of you who will respond by saying “well, Fickell would never have gone to UM,” I would wager a bet that you never saw him accepting the head coaching position at Wisconsin either.
If you want to truly destroy a man, give him everything he ever wished for . . . .
If he leaves, who could they possibly replace him with? I’m not greatly in tune with college football coaches but I do not really see a natural fit or a slam dunk option. And can someone tell me how he didn’t lose the locker room last year when he was bolting off to the Vikings job trust wasn’t even his. I thought for sure that team was going to be a train wreck this year.

YESSS, please go Jimmy. He's a great coach who has embarrassed Ryan Day.. He's clearly flipped the rivalry. Absolutely want him to leave.
The longer he stays the longer the rivalry will be in their favor.

When he returned last year after the debacle with Minnesota, he "promised" that he was at TTUN to stay. It would be hilarious if he bolted to the NFL.
Of course he promised. However, if there’s one thing narcissists excel at, it’s lying.
It’s pretty common for everyone from long snapper to head coach to say they are committed until they aren’t. It’s just the way of things whether narcissism is involved or not.

Nice straw man argument there.

The difference between the last few years and right now is the inner circle folks... last few years a rumor would start, and the beat reporter guys were like nothing really much to this... but today, most of the same folks are like, there's some smoke this time, worried etc etc..
Go Bucks!!!
I’ve heard this story before. Wake me when he’s actually signed a contract.

Go Bucks!!!
CBus love
Does anyone truly want him?
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
Ill play... He brought the 49's to the Super Bowl. He got UM to the CFP twice with different DC and OC... His personality ( I think he has some form of very mild Aspergers) I don't like him because he played for and is the HC of scUM but he is a heck of a coach.
You WIN with people.
WW Hayes
Can't argue with his brother's success.
He did his part at Michigan. Now back to the NFL. I think he goes to the Colts.
His attitude would be a huge uplift for the Browns, imo. I wouldn’t want to root for the combo of him + Watson, but I do think it would work
(no, I don’t expect the browns to be in on him)

Believe he knows he has taken TTUN as far as he can. Tried his damnest previously to get out of Ann Arbor, NFL wasn’t biting. May be a different story now that he has had some success the past two straight years.
Also, he is 2-0 against OSU his last two years - he will hang his hat on that. He will dismiss the fact that overall he is 2-5 and claiming COVID, he punked out of a 2020 ass whopping. A true Michigan Man.
That single act of cowardice defines that program to me. Tells you all you need to know about them.

As a fairly recent colts fan (trying to make Indy home) I have very mixed emotions about this. I guess it will give me an excuse to go back to the Bengals.
Take a hit for Buckeye Nation! LOL
Pigskins & Porkrinds
Welcome to Indiana. I’ve been here for almost 30 years now. A little advice though, don’t bother with the local pro/college teams. The only thing they are consistently good at is being disappointing.
Indiana is just Ohio West
Same here. Would be really weird and conflicting if the Colts hire Harbaugh, and say draft Stroud at #5. Which is conceivable.
He's just looking for a pay raise.. nothing to see here..
Didn’t he get a raise last year? At some point TTUN needs to respect themselves and tell Jimmy if you don’t want to be here get lost.
Yes…..after they cut his salary in half because he was 0-5 against the Buckeyes.
I hope he does. It’s not looking good for us if he stays, if we’re being honest with ourselves. He’s a weirdo but he tends to win wherever he goes eventually.
Like others have stated, he typically does this when he wants more money or something from his bosses. That much we know!
He's a very good coach. And he's fucking weird. In a different era, only one of those things would matter.
I'm sitting this one out. Last year was quite the telenovela .
They were upset by TCU, blown out last year by GA, even if they got past TCU they get blown out by GA, he's not close to winning it all, they're improved but let's not kid ourselves they're not world beaters and never will be, they actually don't return that much of you look, they'll be our little brother for the foreseeable future, and yes I saw the last 2 games we played against them, little brother wins every now and then, just ask Kevin O'Shea, Danny beat him down cherry hill after school once.
ibleedscarletandgray
Aren't they losing a lot of pieces? I thought they were for sure.
"Khajiit has wares if you have the coin."
They are losing pieces but they are already using the portal to fix that. They don’t seem to be worried about disturbing their culture.
DC
That’s the problem- he doesn’t get 24 first round picks because he’s a crappy and lazy recruiter. He doesn’t want to do it. He’s ready to go back to the NFL.
Since when are three star or less first round picks? He gets the college equivalent of first rounders at a rate of 1-3 each year.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
I'll believe it when I see it. He's in an almost ideal situation for him. Plus he hasn't made his goal of winning a Naty. On the other hand, his stock may never be higher.
Pigskins & Porkrinds
Jimmy's mom: "Jimmy, it's the Cleveland Browns on line 1."
As nutty as he is, he might be the one who could square the Browns away. Stay or go, idk. But I don’t think I would mined him coaching the Browns.
Heck, he probably is the one that leaks these stories just for them to stroke his ego.
Isn't this the guy who said last year after the NFL closed the door on him he wasn't going to explore anymore in the future?
“Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” - Will Rogers
Yeah, he wasn’t going to explore any more that year….lol
Don’t trust anyone from Ann Arbor.
Time and change will surely show how firm thy friendship, O HI O.
And we can trust everything he says, right?
Beating OSU or not, the administration is eventually going to get tired of this act and just tell him to GTFO.
“Administration” is Warde Manuel. The guy who barely slapped the wrist of a basketball coach who almost started a brawl after a loss.
I don't think he likes recruiting, and I think Indy is his landing spot, with drafting a new quarterback
CJ Stroud? Lol
That would be something if that happened.
Priority #1: Beat Michigan
I think he's hit his ceiling at Michigan. Despite his success over the past two years, Michigan still can't get a top ten class and needs to use the portal to plug in holes. Now add NIL and Michigan's war chest is basically a jar full of coins compared to other programs. He's not getting any younger so the window back to the NFL might start closing. I wouldn't touch the Broncos job with a 10' pole and the Colts might be the best option. Or does he use this as another "we need to look at my current contract"
Apparently according to Gene Smith our NIL is also a jar of coins
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
That includes the Stroud/TH NIL deals. We might just have a jar.
Just don't let his ass anywhere near Berea.

Go Bucks!
Kind of proves what we all think.
He's looking for a raise. Playing his cards while he's got the hot hand. He isn't going anywhere
So Jimmy has entered the portal?
Guess we'll see. Moreover, what the he// is targeting? Reversed vs UGA then Bryson Shaw w/a textbook crown to the head and...nothing. Now they are saying the forehead to the head is not illegal (?). I give up.
Two years ago I was ready to start a Go Fund Me to get him to stay. After last 2 years wouldn't mind seeing him go although that prick leaving on a 2 game win streak would irritate me. Either way he seems like he has no interest in staying and wants to leverage his recent success for an NFL gig.
Let TTUN have their drama club.
OSU ALUM
Back to back B1G Champions, 2 trips to the playoffs, and beating OSU 2 years in a row. He's not going anywhere.

I don't care if he stays or goes, but " one source close to the Wolverines head coach claiming" sounds like the water boy has the inside scoop.
i dont care if he goes or stays...i'll always hate him no matter where he is. (and i mean it)
klusewski
Frankly I wouldn't be shocked if he left. I think if they were going to win it all, this was going to be the year. They are losing a lot of pieces.
"Khajiit has wares if you have the coin."
He’s not a great coach. Look at his record against his two rivals. Does that scream great coach?
Day has beaten him.
Go Bucks!
John
Ryan Day would love to see the guy who spanked his Ass like his Daddy the last 2 years leave ....
All jokes aside, Harbaugh has matured and developed into a pretty solid HC. I razz him as much as anyone on here but he’s really turned it around in Ann Arbor—who is a well known whore. Good luck in Denver!
Round on the ends and "HI" in the middle. O-HI-O.
Matured???
Weeeelllllll…. *wink*
I’m trying to be nice in 2023. Turn over a new leaf in my anonymous 11w comment board rants. I did call Ann Arbor a whore so I have some work to do. It’s a journey. :)
Round on the ends and "HI" in the middle. O-HI-O.
This would make the stakes even higher for Day to go to aa and win later on this year.
GO BUCKS
Brady Hoke is tanned, rested, and ready.
Interesting how there is news about this about 48 hours after their game was over.
Banks of olentangy
One of my family members from Michigan asked why I only post negative stuff about her team. I said, yeah, Harbaugh has the same bowl record as John Cooper at OSU after 7 years.

Why would any NFL team want a coach that has choked in every big game he has coached in?
Ironballs
This seems to be an annual occurrence with JH. With John U Bacon coming out and saying that there is truth behind the rumor of Harbaugh wanting to go to the NFL (and it happening quickly, if it does get done), you have to wonder how solidified the 2024 class remains for them. To me, he is doing that team a disservice by staying and continuing to stoke the flames every off-season. As an Ohio State fan, I'm not shedding a tear, though.
I like the smoke, hopefully it impacts recruiting, but I highly doubt he leaves after last years fanfare.
"The Best Damn Band In The Land!" - Woody Hayes
Meh.
Until we fix our own problems we should stop getting all giddy about the potential problems others have. And we have problems. We are still recruiting at a high level but with our late season woes, due almost exclusively to coaching errors, and NIL (who said "jar of coins"? That was a good one) we are treading on thin ice.
Go Bucks. Men of the Scarlet and Grey!

I don’t care what harbaugh does. Once we get our defense squared away he’s gonna wish he left when he had the chance.

If you want to truly destroy a man, give him everything he ever wished for . . . .

Zimmy in a couple of weeks.
I never got the sense from the guy he wanted to remain in Ann Arbor in perpetuity.
Knowledge isn't free, you have to pay attention
Jimmy simply lives the attention- going nowhere IMO.
