I would love to see Shane Falco on the sidelines during The Game. Imagine being at the shoe, already stressing the environment, and the other team had John Wick on its sidelines? Amazing.

HS
AnnArborsBuckeye's picture

I think UM's red zone problems, which have been prevalent all year, is what causes them to lose this game. They struggle to get big plays and are somehow terrible at converting to TD's once inside the 20, despite having a killer run game. I think they settle for at least 3 field goals, and that wont be enough to beat the TD's OSU's offense is going to get. 31-23 OSU wins this one!

Get dumped then

HS
OH_NC_IO's picture

The over/under on Harbaugh breaking his headset is halftime.  I’m taking the over and say that headsets are worried about mid-3rd quarter after halftime adjustments settle in and our receivers burn Fichigan with 2 long TD catches on our first 2 second half drives.

If you want to truly destroy a man, give him everything he ever wished for . . . .

The Buckeyes will be playing at a level we have not yet seen this year. And scUM isn't going to know what to do with that. Lots of nerves, but good guys roll.

HS
Dymatize's picture

I don’t see our guys as nervous.
I think our guys are champing at the bit.

Think of Clemson ‘20. We weren’t scared. We wanted those motherfuckers so bad we couldn’t wait.

That’s this game.
TTUN ‘22.

We were looking past Maryland and straight to TTUN. Well here they are. No more waiting for them. They are here and we are going to destroy them.

And by we, I mean the actual team, bc I’m just going to be screaming until I get to rush the field after.

The ‘19 team was our best ever.

HS
Playful_Beginnings's picture

Michigan will come to play & Harbaugh definitely will bring some wrinkles that will be difficult to prepare for (I buy into the argument that one reason Michigan struggled against Illinois is because they were holding things back for Ohio State).    I think this game needs to be won by the defense, specifically the DL.    I'm optimistic, but also nervous.    Let's Go Bucks.

HS
TigerSweat's picture

Shit! You think they were "holding back" against Illinois?!?! They're fucking lucky they didn't outright lose that game so I guarantee they weren't just fucking around

Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0

HS
Dymatize's picture

Exactly.

Running Corum to death in the first half isn’t saving anything.

That was a standard, struggle in the first half TTUN game until shit hit the fan.

That’s what they do. It’s all they do.

It came back to bite them in the ass and they are fortunate to survive.

The ‘19 team was our best ever.

HS
TigerSweat's picture

I've watched every game of theirs this season and you're spot on. They have one move that they count on - running Blake Corum 30 times a game. That's it. JJ will occasionally run for a big gain and every now and then they'll hit a desperately needed pass more than 8 yards down field. Their defense seems to be good but they really haven't tested by a passing attack like they're about to face. Buckeyes roll 41-20

Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0

Last year’s game was played in bad weather that diminished  our passing game. ttun’s defensive end never got the attention he deserved from our soon-to-be fired defensive co-coordinators.  We had a lame run game  without the pass, and a clown show of a low ranked defense.

This year the weather looks to better, their de is gone, and we enter the game with a top 10 defense.
But none of that compares to the possibility that Ryan Day has a long list of known plays that have been hidden or sparingly used. They are:

1. Screen play to rb.
2. seam pass. Must’ve used that 80 times last year.
3. quick outs.
4 pop pass to X or y.
5.  Slant passes. these lead to wide open deep balls.
6. Misdirection Te passes seen in 1st 4 games.
7. JSN.

Instead we’ve gotten :

1. Stuffed Stretch plays

2. Frigging bubble screens

3 . Mindless overthrown lobs deep lately

4. Balls hitting receivers’ chest lately

So   If the play book is gonna open up Saturday, it will be really fun. Add to that if we force them to throw either by stuffing the run or taking an early lead, it will be awesome.
But if the vanilla slop we’ve seen lately on offense  is the real 2022 Buckeyes   Yikes

HS
Ole Buckeye's picture

Hey St. Pete.  Yo Adrian here.

I think if the Buckeyes are in the right frame of mind, we can run ordinary shit and still win. But you're right, and Buckeye Nation agrees, please no more sideways passes, no more predictable run plays on third and short.  And let Knowles run wild - blitz the piss out of Xichigan.  I would love to see JJ McCarthy sandwiched between Tuimoloau and Zach Harrison.  Several times.

HS
TigerSweat's picture

Right on. The WR screens are so aggravating to watch. I assume (hope) that Day has been running that play as a setup for a masterful counter pass out of the same look... That better be the case considering how unsuccessful the bubble screens have been

Last year’s game was played in bad weather that diminished  our passing game.

Stroud passed for 400 yards? How did weather diminish the passing game? WRs went crazy that game.

ttun’s defensive end never got the attention he deserved from our soon-to-be fired defensive co-coordinators.

Why would a Michigan defender get attention from the OSU defensive staff?

@StephenToski

HS
Ca114fire's picture

Agreed. Stroud did an amazing job passing, that L was all on the defense. Don't see that being the case this year, so long as the offense gives our defense the time to rest. A couple 3 & outs on the offense will be cause for serious concern.

HS
stpetebuck's picture

I agree about the 400 yards , but yards don’t win. TD’s passes do.
Imo, we never chipped like we should have on their de. Not suggesting interest in the actual player.

Really looking forward to our coaching staff being in DefCon mode this weekend.  Translation:  we can't worry about hurting anyone's feelings.  No play will be called or substitution made based on something we thought we wanted to try for future use...

Every move Saturday is about winning THIS GAME. Nothing else.

As Woody used to always say, players know that the hits on every freaking play are harder in The Game than they have been all year.  All 22 guys are going full out anger-driven fury on each play.
Like a heavy weight fight, Woody and Bo used to go the whole first quarter just trading body blows.  It was classic Big Ten Football, but now.... now it's different.

I will be too nervous to eat or sit, but this will be a great game.

I feel like OSU 41-30. But who the hell knows??

My only advice to Ryan Day is, you're spending a shit ton of money on your coaching staff -- listen to those guys, especially Knowles and Kevin Wilson.

HS
Habeas's picture

Both teams are walking wounded into the game.  Credit to all these young men.  Although I would rather see both teams at full strength, life just isn't like that.  Looking forward to what will hopefully be another epic installment of the best rivalry in all of sports.  And of course, Go Blue!

HS
TigerSweat's picture

OSU lost the best WR in college football in the first quarter of the first game. The entire offense had been predicated around him so that was a serious blow. Obviously, they have recruited well and developed even better at WR so Harrison Jr stepped up but I would say that missing JSN is on par with Michigan losing Blake Corum

Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0

Illinois plays that game at home, I think they win. Bielema is a bit of a character but he has his team playing exceptionally well, especially given their recruiting. With that said, I think you throw everything out that happened before "the game".

Holy Toledo, have I been living under a ROCK?? How in the world have I never heard about the sexual abuse committed by scUM's doctor, Robert Anderson?? Dude was sexually assaulting people of all ages for 40 years? While scUM's team doctor? Wow. And I thought Ped State's abuse was bad. They have hundreds of former football and other sport athletes and faculty that have come forward to detail their assaults and the university settled for $500 million? How is this NOT a storyline going into THE GAME this week? I remember Jon Vaughn from back in the day, and this pervert doctor made him give "sperm sample" four times? And worse, the creepy doctor "assisted him" with the act to "get a good sample?!?" WTF, over. Screw football, this is the stuff that matters. How does TTUN even have a football program anymore, or Bo Scumbeckler remain a revered man after covering up for this creep. The coaches all knew too! "Hey man, if you don't do right, we're going to send you to Dr. Anderson!" This was a THING?? Man, my mind is totally blown.

FUCK. MICHIGAN.

Round on the ends and "HI" in the middle. O-HI-O.

HS
buckeyeupnorth's picture

This story has been over for almost two years. Michigan had an independent investigation into all the allegations including the ones made by Bo’s estranged adopted son( Millie’s son from her first marriage that Bo adopted when they married) .The settlement included more safeguards and reporting requirements in addition to monetary payments to individuals affected. Bo’s other children have said that his son’s stories have no merit and did not happen. This same son had not spoken to Bo for years over Bo’s refusal to loan him money for a business start up and the family said their relationship had been contentious for years. Why writers here have to throw crap like this into an otherwise entertaining article escapes me.

HS
OldTownBuckNut's picture

Yeah, but things are very much "unsettled" from what I read. Certainly NOT "ancient history" and inconceivable that it hasn't/didn't at least rise to the level of what PSU had not so very long ago. I guess we can see what people actually care about in the media.

Bucks need to stuff the run game and smother the tight ends. If they do they win. I think to unleash the passing game to get a lead early, will allow the run game to slam ttun, weather permitting. We'll see..

HS
mrjb2222's picture

Stop their run and it's a wrap. Struggle to stop the run and it's a nail biter in the 4th quarter. For some reason I am feeling more confident as game day approaches - home field advantage is massive in a game like this. Bucks will prove to be a bit too much.

I think ttun will have a lot of planned runs by JJ so we need to have a spy on that joker...possibly Steele getting the honors. I just don't see the rodents being one dimensional and winning this game. I can see them testing our corners but JJ's accuracy isn't going to cut it for four quarters.
