Maybe you haven't watched OSU basketball the past 6 years, but OSU doesn't use their PG's as primary ballhandlers, but as initiators of the offense. Bring the ball up court, start the offense, make open shots. Meechie wasn't consistent at any of those things last year.
Now, if your argument is that he should have been playing the 2, well, you can take that up with every D1 coach (including the one he is currently playing for) that recruited him as a PG.
My problem is meechie is a undersized secondary ball handler , he should be not be initiating plays , and he damn sure should of never had the ball in his hands as many times as he did , he was a talking TO
Wish nothing but the best for him. He's a streaky player. Made 6/10 from three tonight, was 4/22 the previous three games (31% from three for the season before tonight). He's getting the green light to pretty much do whatever he wants.
Good for him. As far as I can tell that's only the third win for the Gamecocks in 29 trips to Lexington. That will be a memorable night for the players and their fans.
As long as Meechie doesn't Jordan Sibert us in the NCAA tournament, then I shall remain happy for him
Also no, I'm not gonna criticize Holtmann here lol Meechie was terrible last year and he got plenty of playing time so it's not like Holtmann held him back.
Superior talent, superior athletes, but absolutely no give a damn. They tried to come back, but it was too late. Oh well, they don't care. But if you want to just look at some athletes stand around for a couple hours, Kentucky basketball is the ticket. Real live mannequins who likely will come to life once they get drafted, because well now it's play or starve.
The funny thing about Kentucky this year is that they caught a massive break in having a great college player return (because Tshiebwe isn't really thought of as a great NBA prospect). You'd assume Calipari of all people could recruit well enough to complement a 23-year-old All-American, but instead they're looking like a March bubble team.
Before the transfer portal came into being Calipari signed the best of the best one-year players assuring KY top shelf talent. The portal has evened the field. Now KY's opponents can bring in 2 or 3 good, experienced players to compete against the Cats.

Speaking of Kentucky, I still can't believe Calipari lost to that 2015-16 Ohio State team. Probably one of the funniest victories ever outside of Keyshawn Woods dropping buckets all over Halliburton and THT in 2019
I relished that win… However, still doesn’t make up for the stupid loss in the tournament to them just a few years prior. I’ll still die on a hill that it was that team that should’ve won a title, I’d have taken them over the Oden/Conley team. That stings to this day.
Huh? I was referring to the loss to UK we essentially were the undisputed #1 team in the country all year. I wanna say it was the 2010-11 team in the 2011 tourney. That team was a billion times better than Kentucky and somehow a stupid shot with 5 seconds or so goes in and beats us. Sully, Diebler, Lighty, Craft, Buford, D. Thomas… That team was loaded.

Calipari to Texas is looking more and more like its going to happen
Good on this young man.
Congrats to Meechie!
GO BUCKEYES!
1-2 sucks!
Good to see he got his MOJO back.
he had a pretty bad string of injuries during his two seasons here
good luck the rest of the way
Not to mention he took a lot of heat from people on this board saying he sucks. Good for him!
Hmm
I mean he clearly regressed his 2nd year at OSU, even after his 1st season. Stats say so too. Good for him in improving at SC.

Sophomore slump?
Also as I remember he came in early, so his sophomore season was his freshman year.
I mean…. He did lmao , it is okay to admit he sucked here , he should of never been a primary ballhandling PG but somehow Holtmann didnt realize this

Kentucky is 1-3 in the SEC. It's a mild upset at best.

He doesn't play for us...fuck him.
Completely normal thought and comment.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
Meechie is a mensch. Good for him.

I enjoyed every moment of this being that I live in Kentucky. I’m here for all the Calipari imploding that can be done.

Good for him. Sometimes it takes a change of scenery and coaches to get back on track. This is the good side of the transfer portal for players.

Can he handle a press?
Kentucky is very frustrating to watch.

We won against Iowa State all 3 times that we faced them in the NCAA Tournament. Are you sure that you aren't thinking of another team?
