But they will rave about Texas A&M recruiting and how NIL is a mess at Ohio State, despite the fact the former has won a total of 5 games, yes 5, with that historic class, with 7 players in the portal.
Probably a waste of his time to keep playing football. Just wish he had checked 11W comments so he’d know he was a 2* recruit and Frye can’t develop players.
Coach Frye is a really good coach, sorry if you can't see that or the rest of the 11w, and having a star beside your name doesn't matter one bit what truly matters is whats in your heart and mind.
Sounds like a fine and humble young man. Hope he accomplishes everything he sets out to accomplish.
I'm not finished! Before we let you leave, your commander must cross that field, present himself before this army, put his head between his legs, and kiss his own arse.
“I'm really blessed. I've been thanking God. I almost broke down and cried when I was getting so many offers out of the portal,” Cutler recalled. “It was just like so crazy to me because like, this never happened to me before.”
This is what the portal should be for. A player who wasnt highly recruited out of high school but shows great progress at a lower level and then gets re-recruited as a 3rd or 4th year player to a bigger school. What it should not be for is going and getting a bag from one school and then immediately wanting to leave for someplace else.
This is why someone like Rashada should not be allowed out of his NLI.
Successful people do what they have to, whether they feel like it or not
I don’t look at this kid as a 2* recruit Ohio State is brining in, I look at this as Ohio State beating out Penn State, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma State for a recruit they wanted just as much.
I can't pretend to know anything about the technical details of offensive line play and certainly not at a G5 school...but the fact he's willing and versatile enough to compete at center after being left tackle seems like a pretty good sign that he has a good chance of carving out some kind of role - starters, swing backup, who knows, but something.
Coach Frey obviously does and told him he'd make him better by improving his weak points; ad he can point to Wypler's improvement; big boy from UGA had nothing on him, that's coaching. Come to Columbus, I'll do it for you...
Without winners there wouldn't be any gosh darn civilization. We make no apologies for winning or for aiming our entire program toward that goal. - Woody Hayes
I do love that he's challenged himself to reach his maximum potential. Could have easily settled for playing at La-Monroe, completed school and moved on. That type of ambition and betting on himself will pay dividends in life. His baseline athletic tangibles will determine his ceiling but we don't know where that is yet.
But HE'S A 2-STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTAF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How could he be getting lots of offers in the portal?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
He WAS a 2-star. Now he has a lot of game reps and has developed enough that some big names wanted him. Sure, he needs more development, but between Coaches Mick and Frye he'll do well.
Kid can only get better from that level of coaching and if he's not the next Paris Johnson Jr. or Pat Elflein, so be it, maybe he's a solid depth player? I'm here for it.
The Excellence of Execution, the Best there is, the Best there was, the Best there ever will be!
I like this addition. A seasoned lineman whose slate of transfer options suggests significant potential to contribute at OSU. Worst case, he offers experienced depth. Best case, his game improves further and he grabs the starting center job. Nice lottery ticket.
Seems like a great fit. The fact that he held his own against Texas and Bama says a lot in my opinion. He brings versatility and experience. Hope Frye can get the most out of him.

Worst case he is a solid depth piece with flexibility across the 2 deep. Sounds like C is his best position and he'll compete for that job which is never a bad thing. Not sure he is starting Tackle material, so those positions remain wide open. Would have been nice to get one of those higher end Tackles in the portal early on, but is what it is.
Sounds good! Center should be a strength for us, this coming season. If it's this kid, then we should be good as he showed great raw ability against Alabama and Texas. If it's not this kid, then it'll be someone who showed that they're better than a kid who had success against Alabama and Texas. Either way . . . let's go!
Just need a couple rookie tackles to step up. McCord should find his rhythm early. WRs, RBs, D-Line, Linebackers will be among the best in the country. Knowles defense year 2 should be a huge improvement over this past season. Hartline is going to be awesome as OC. Day beats xichigan, wins his national title, and then probably passes the torch to Hartline. This is about as optimistic as I've been lately! lol.
"A man is always better than he thinks." -Woody Hayes-
So, Frye figures he'll be able to teach an offensive tackle to make the line calls from the center position so quickly ..... time will tell, but I'm rootin' for the young man .... personally, I'd feel better about him working a guard position (I like how his height helps him get under the defender in run blocking).
Good luck and be your best, Victor ..... welcome to the Scarlet & Grey !!
Height is not an advantage for an interior offensive lineman, simply because of the leverage factor (lower center of gravity allows you to get under the defender, which is very useful in the run game). Tackles are usually tall, which usually translates to a bigger wing span which creates better separation from the defender in pass pro, but the focus should ALWAYS be on the foot speed and balance. Stop moving the legs (and we've had a few on the O-Line) and you become a turnstile, then someone in the backfield pays the price.
Vincent looks to have some decent footwork (quick kick step), but tends to get the hands outside the shoulder pads a bit ....
Still, a good pick up from the portal and who knows how good he'll be after getting some top notch coaching ?? I remember the last O-Line transfer we picked up was a very solid kid a few years back ....
Prob 90% of all O-Gaurds in P5 Football are 6 '4 to 6' 5. Guards are usually gifted with some foot speed and agility. This kid played Center and Guard and Tackle in the past he will most likely be a Center I would imagine. Also Tackles are tall and with the long stride can get out in the rush lane on Edge Rushers and the long arms help create much wider rush angles. If you watch his Videos the kid has good foot speed moves laterally well and gets to the next level. I like this pick up
Seems like a fine young man with a great attitude who sees the opportunity in front of him and wants to get better to achieve success. Good luck to him and Go Bucks!
So, we need tackles and go to Louisiana Monroe for a 2* undersized tackle to play C or G for THE from Detroit and a *ichigan fan to boot? Okay! Good luck. Hopefully we can find some candidates to play T!
I don't care what his star rating was from high school. The kid had multiple offers from Power 5 schools in the portal, and Frye saw something he liked. It's not like OSU went to the bargain bin.
I think this kid's attitude plus the coaching and S&C at Ohio State will be a beautiful combo.

Hope he does well. How is it that a great program is not recruiting top skill at the offensive line positions all of a sudden? You get to the playoffs with stud linemen it seems to me. Hopefully next class is full of big bad boys.
Bratwurst knows what he's talkin about. O-line tackle recruiting has taken a hit recently. Most blaming it on Stud. But Frye didn't recruit any in his tenure either, so far. Come on, we're Ohio State!
Miles Walker and Luke Montgomery are both projected as tackles. ALso Justin Frye has been here one year and is about to have 2 first round offensive linemen drafted
Successful people do what they have to, whether they feel like it or not
Hope he can get coached up and help somewhere. We can use all the help we can get. Can you imagine Bama,Georgia, etc. being so short of o-line talent. We have really shot ourselves in the foot at these positions.
I like his attitude. Coming to a top school and thinking about the NFL. Obviously we won't know if he starts, but he seems to be a solid addition at center.
I thought the OLine did an incredible job vs Georgia and what was thought to be the best DLine in College Football, Carter looked frustrated and out of place.

Potential to improve. Positional versatility. Experience. Willing to compete. Added bonus is he was a ttun fan but is now all buckeye! Love it!

Based off of the programs Ohio State was competing against for Cutlers commitment I think it’s fair to say Cutler is now a 4* with a .9210 grade.

I'm excited for this kid to compete/play at tOSU. He wants to get better and believes in the Buckeye program and coaches to get him there! Awesome!

I also think he's a C. His height/weight fits a C more than a T, and he doesn't have much experience at G. :)

For comparison:
Jakob James (Cincinnati Elder)
6’5” 285lbs
3* .8594
#852 nationally, #55 OG, #28 OH
This will be a true competition for the starting center spot and because of his size and experience I think Cutler might be the odds on favorite.
Sounds good!
Wypler was 6/3 300 according to our roster on here. Mick will work his magic to get him stronger.

Brings experience and leadership to the program. win/win
Elite talent. Elite attitude.. big things for this kid now they he’s on the big stage. Huge steal for Fyre
After losing all the portal linemen that could have helped us, it makes me feel good we could afford to buy a good 2 star.
