Calvin Simpson-Hunt looked good in the all-american bowl and 247sports think he can start as a freshman.  Glad we have two exciting cb coming in.

Wish CSH enrolled early, but I still won't be surprised if he sees the field some as a true frosh. Special talent.

Matthews is a stud in his own right, too. Despite losing Lee last minute, the CB haul is solid in my opinion.

These two guys are going to be tested from the get-go.  They get to practice against the best wide receivers in the Country!!  It's going to prepare them for anything our opponents can throw at them.

I used to think the same thing.  But it seems as Zone 6 has grown more ridiculously talented with Garret, Olave, J. Williams, JSN, Emeka, Harrison, etc., our BIA secondary regressed and got worse.  I may be joking, but going against those guys in practice day in and day out could have been demoralizing and had a residual mental effect.

But seriously, I think the recruiting talent and depth hit a bump in the road, but these latest additions have got me excited.  Sort of wished CSH would have enrolled early as well.

I’m starting to agree with your point about going against the best receivers may be having an unexpected demoralizing effect on the DB’s but only on ones that mentally let it happen. With more success it would become a huge positive tho. Gotta find the right ones.

That has nothing to do with Zone 6 tho , and more to do with the fact since 2018 …. OSU has had 6 different DB coaches lol & Coombs and the other idiot hired in 2018 by Meyer in the span have recruited absolutely nothing

Clark Phillips and Terrance Brooks say hello. Seriously though, Taver Johnson is not an idiot. But I digress. Why you gotta be that guy?

Hmm

I must disagree with 247. He may become a starter at the end of the season, he will not be one when fall camp is over.

Lots of incoming talent! Wishing these young men the best as they start their journeys as Buckeyes.

The DB room needs what the wide receiver room has and I’m not just talking about stats and talent. That room has leaders that push the young guys because of proven results. The young guys want to be the next one. We need some db’s take that leadership/mentor role while playing well. That’s how it starts recruiting itself in the future. We used to have that. Maybe this group helps build that.

Would of liked to seen CSH and Inniss been early enrollees….

Inniss needed to be an early enrollee.

I don’t believe his high school allows for graduating early/early enrollment in college but I could be wrong.

HS

If he really wanted to, he could.  He might have to transfer to a different HS briefly.   Heck, I knew a guy who enrolled at OSU and never graduated HS.  (I'm not sure if there's an NCAA issue there, but I don't actually see why there would be.)

Keep building depth we need it. This class is going to surprise people imo. Great haul of talent.

More bodies in the foxhole at corner are just what the doctor ordered, and I have to say I love the confidence in the young guys.

I was skeptical because we missed out on some people and we do not have the typical five stars sprinkled in. But I was REALLY impressed with how many of our recruits played in national high school bowl games and by how well they did. Nice to trhink that our recruiting team is viewing capability and fit more than just stars. No problem with five stars, and there were some we really wanted, but it just seems that almost all of our recruits are there because they were the recruiting team's first choice.

If your opponent knocks you on your ass, honor the game and RESPECT him. But Gentlemen, no bastard ever won a football game by getting knocked on his ass. You won it by knocking the other poor dumb bastard on his ass and making HIM respect You!!

Thanks. I wasn't sure who that was as well.

For those unfamiliar with names and faces of the newbies who were in the All-American Bowl.

Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game. -- Michael Jordan

I'm excited about this group of early enrollees and especially glad to see the 4 offensive linemen here for Winter workouts/Spring practices.  Go Bucks!

Thurman, who is known for his love of Spider-Man, may find it difficult to swing his way into early playing time considering Cade Stover decided to return

Nice.  Love to see elevenwarriors do a webcam interview with Thurman.  Maybe get him to fling out a great nickname that might stick.

It would have been nice having Kayden McDonald arrive early and start carving out a niche in the interior of that Defensive Line immediately. It shouldn't take him long to be at least equally as good as anything we have available right now. The sooner he is in Columbus permanently the better I'll feel.

I'm looking for Mathew and Smith to make contributions this year.

I wish we could have landed one of Wilson, Keeley, or Uiagalelei at DE, but overall I am pleased with the quality of this class. Now the development begins!

DT room??  Since we don't usually play freshman very much at DT where does it stand for next year for the LOS with only one smaller DT entering early??  Same answer as last August??

HS
Beantown_Buckeye's picture

You can't rely on true FR playing right away. Hero Kanu from the 2022 class will have a year of experience under his belt and is supposedly in the 305-310lb range right now. He's the guy likely to make an impact at DT next year along with Hall, Williams, and Hamilton returning. They added a huge DT in Kayden McDonald who will be coming in later on. Williams, Hall, Kanu, and McDonald are four really big DTs in a three-year period. Size should not be a problem on the DL.

Interested to see what the tackle position looks like and what Justin Frye does in year 2.

George Fitzpatrick could play or backup at RT, with Fryar, and then Michalski & Tegra at LT.  Will Toutant progress or get passed over by Montgomery?

Fryar came in as a guard/center, but he's projected to start at RT. Is Jakob James the answer at C if Wypler leaves? He might be good, but he came in at 260 and apparently has already added 25 pounds. I don't know that he could add another 15-20.

So if Wypler leaves, you could see Tegra or Michalski at LT, Jackson, Fryar at C, Vimahi, & Fitzpatrick or Montgomery at RT.

Good to see the young bucks getting the early start. We finished strong vs GA, especially how they're stomping the frogs tonight, so let's keep it rolling and be ready to go come September.
