This is a tough schedule, but not a big departure from what we normally have. There's no reason for us to play too many minnows given the posture of our program anyway, especially with the new stadium coming. I'm looking forward to seeing us in action!
Do we know yet which of those will be in the WHAC and when the new stadium will be ready?
I'm not 100% sure on that. Precedent says that the opening 2 or 3 games will be WHAC, but the new heated field may present some new opportunities for outdoor early season games. Just depends on what Myers wants to do. Game is more controllable indoors, but the camera angles are trash.
Per a recent article from LaxAllStars, there are no more WHAC games thanks to the heated field. Also says that the schedule hasn't posted yet. So you're welcome for superior journalism to professionals who cover this sport on the regular. /S.
Big time lax there; tough schedule, indeed. UNC, UVA and Cornell - in a row! Wow. And the Big 10 is solid w/ Maryland (always good), Rutgers (Final 4 last year, I believe). Go Bucks!!
UNC will actually be in a bit of a rebuilding year. Their star attackman Chris Gray has moved on. Their other 2 starting attackmen last year, Soloman and Kelly, have transferred to Georgetown. Midfielder Cole Herbert transferred to Towson. Their top recruit, attackman Dom Pietramala is red-shirting due to injury. UNC will probably be ranked around #20-#25 preseason. They will still be somewhat dangerous due to all their talent
UVa and Cornell will probably be preseason top 5, and they are followed on the schedule by Notre Dame, who wil probably be preseason top 10.
Thanks, Trav! Looks pretty sparkling, all things considered. Shooting room looks like it's barely started, which is understandable. Needed to get the field done while it was warm enough to work. This is going to look beautiful on TV.
Appreciate the updated list! Looks like the Hopkins and Maryland games flipped weekends, and Rutgers moved back a day. Solid schedule, going to be a fantastic season.
I have absolutely no news. There is still one person on FanLax swearing up and down that Hudgins is not playing 2023, but that's it. We will know in a few weeks.
Here's a dogshit preview article focused around "one big question" for each conference.
Ohio State is mentioned as one of the three top dogs in the conference, but there's no mention of the Buckeyes otherwise. Don't mind the fact that they have added exceptional offensive pieces, the best defender in the portal, and return their star goalkeeper from the end of 2022.
I took the review as a good thing for OSU. UM, PSU, and Hop all have some catching up to do in order to get to the level where OSU, Rutgers, and obviously Maryland are operating. The ACC portion of the story had a stat on how strong the Ivy and B1G non-conference records were last year in comparison to the ACC and others.
The Bucks have their work cut out for them, but if they can spring a few surprising wins like they did in 2022 and take care of the games they’re supposed to win, they’ll be a tournament team again in 2023.
The cost for a lacrosse coach is laughably small. The majority of programs will likely just make their volunteer assistant the new paid coach. That means professional faceoff and goalie coaches. Which should be good.
The new field looks really nice. I don't like the gray Ohio background for the Block O at midfield, but that's just me. There should be more branding once the indoor part is finished. Link below to aerial view of field and seating:
Inside Lacrosse named Hudgins as one of their impact transfers to watch. Also name-checked pretty much every transfer OSU got except Justin Sherrer. No questions on LaCalandra's eligibility, so maybe he was just hurt?
Don't like hearing about goalie struggles. That's a big red flag. And I think they're way underselling Allen and Shean's potential. Interesting about LaCalandra down at attack. That is surprising.

Love the schedule. Quality opponents = quality opportunities.
Abso-freaking-lutely. I am excited to see how the Buckeyes measure up.
The new lacrosse stadium is almost finished!!
I just posted a few pictures of it just before Thanksgiving on urbanohio forum- if anyone's interested in a peek.

Hopkins schedule lists:
Apr 15 (Sat) 2:00 pm Home Ohio State Baltimore, MD (Homewood Field)
https://hopkinssports.com/sports/mens-lacrosse/schedule/2023
Interesting. The pamphlet did say subject to change. So I will update when the official release goes put. Must have been a last second switch.
Denver date confirmed.
Penn State has their 2023 schedule is up:
Apr 1 (Sat) TBA Home Ohio State University University Park, Pa. (Panzer Stadium)
https://gopsusports.com/sports/mens-lacrosse/schedule/2023
- I imagine a few of the Big Ten games could shift to Sunday night for BTN
The PSU schedule also gives us the Big Ten tmt dates:
Apr 29 (Sat) TBA Neutral Big Ten First Round TBD
May 4 (Thu) TBA Neutral Big Ten Semifinals Baltimore, MD
May 6 (Sat) TBA Neutral Big Ten Championship Baltimore, MD
Wow - might be a long season - no doubt it's gonna be challenging - let's hope we rise to the occasion.
Always try to look for the positive ........... in the midst of a crisis !!
Ohio State schedule now posted
https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/m-lacros/schedule/season/2022-23/
That schedule listing has an error with the UMd game. This is the right one now:

Appreciate the updated list! Looks like the Hopkins and Maryland games flipped weekends, and Rutgers moved back a day. Solid schedule, going to be a fantastic season.
And now we know the reason. Ohio State football has its spring game on April 15, so they didn't want to lose a crowd to that.
Any word on whether Marcus Hudgins is going to play? He is on the roster still.
I have absolutely no news. There is still one person on FanLax swearing up and down that Hudgins is not playing 2023, but that's it. We will know in a few weeks.
Hudgins made an appearance on the official Buckeye lacrosse Twitter feed at practice today. For what that is worth

Come on, North, you know there's no room for nuance and even-handed takes on the internet.

Three Buckeyes named Preseason All-Americans by Lacrosse Magazine. Probably the most ever?

One of them is Marcus Hudgins, who is rumored to have had eligibility issues. Not sure if this is an indication one or the other.
Actually tied with at least 2018, when Terefenko, Leclaire, and Inacio got the nod.
I think he’s playing. Just a gut call, but I feel good about seeing him on the field this spring.
Sure seems more and more likely we see #9 on the field. Hopefully that's the case!
Big News: Lacrosse staffs across the country will be able to add a third paid assistant coach. That is huge news. Should only help the Buckeyes.
I guess will most programs put the extra money out?
Have you seen the new stadium yet? Any thoughts I assume it will be enhanced with more osu branding and polish over the coming months. One could hope

It seems a little strange not mentioning Sherrer as most would figure that he would start or at least be a regular at LSM.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM!
Hudgins and LaCalandra are ELIGIBLE!
Here comes a natty!!
