Sometimes teens feel like they need to leave home to see "the world" and make their mark. Some prefer to "stay home". I'm hoping that Royal is one of the later types. He would be great get for the Buckeyes.
I was thinking the same thing. However, these days with the way that AAU teams travel, players are leaving the state and seeing new places. Royal mentioned he will be in Kansas City and then down to the Peach Jam in Georgia. So, maybe a change of scenery isn’t as much of a factor anymore. But, it still could be.
i get this - because there have always been kids come to play for osu from different states - but this is one of those rare opportunities where we want the local kid plays for the home team
i think the telling sign is his tightness with his family and proximity to home...the visitation pic of devin with his dog might have sealed it for me!!!
It was a good visit. I got to hangout with the team, check everything out, details about how I would play and what I would do when I get there. I think it just got more specific of what I’m gonna do there, what my role’s gonna be when I come there.”
I think Devin is a important get. Another 4 star player added to another strong class. It would show other local and Ohio players that Coach is putting together a all around solid program with real talent. Ohio guys can stay home and play for a top tier program. Our program can sign out of state talent and Ohio talent. I’m really happy with Coach Holtmann and our program. I’m loving the direction that the program is heading in. We are lucky to have the staff and players that were have! Go Bucks!!!
He has taken his 5 officials. Along with Alabama, Clemson offered, Michigan offered, Ole Miss, all those in the past month or so. Those visits will be on his own dime if he decides to visit any of the aforementioned. I think it will ultimately be between the Izzos or the good guys.

Devin Royal and Xavier Booker look like good fits for the Buckeyes.
