Michigan football has received a Notice of Allegations that includes a Level I violation by Jim Harbaugh and four Level II violations by the program.
Per Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports, Harbaugh is alleged of failing to cooperate with investigators when faced with questions about Level II violations inside the program. The allegation against Harbaugh is a Level I violation, the highest level, and he could face signficant recruiting restrictions and/or a multiple-game suspension as a result.
Per The Athletic's Nicole Auerbach, Michigan received its Notice of Allegations from the NCAA on Thursday night, meaning the 90-day window has started on the case before official notice is given.
The Level II violations Michigan is accused of include meeting with two recruits during a COVID-19 dead period, using too many coaches at practice sessions and watching player workouts over a video feed.
In Harbaugh's eight seasons at Michigan, he has never been cited for a Level I violation. Harbaugh is coming off back-to-back Big Ten championships and College Football Playoff appearances with the Wolverines. His name has been connected to several NFL job openings over the past week, including the vacant Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers jobs.
Harbaugh put out a statement Thursday saying he “expects” to be coaching at Michigan next season, several hours before the story of the allegations broke.
