I believe ttun has 3/5 of their oline coming back, will plug in a top 10 center, have both rb's and the qb back next year.  not sure about their wr's.  they also have most of their defense coming back.  the game is going to be a slobberknocker next year.  knowles has to deliver a better defense next year or we could get  boat raced as we are breaking in a new qb.  must win that game.  most important game on the schedule.

sounds like a comment on mgoblog.  last national championship was 1960.  no one looks at this program as a blue blood program anymore.  cant hang your reputation on shit that happened 60+ years ago. been over a decade since they made it out of the second round of the NCAA tournament.  big time recruits are not looking to come here.  will need to build a roster with mid level players that will stay at least 3 years so you can build chemistry which will allow this team to compete every 3-4 years.

agree but that means we need to find a young coach and take a chance on him because no successful / established coach is going to come in here.  need a young assistant coach out of a successful program who can relate to the players and has an idea of what it takes to build a championship program.  we have not won a national championship since 1960 and have struggled since Thad Matta left.  Time to move on from Holtman.

Facts:

Last time OSU was in the Final Four was 2012 (a decade ago)

Last time OSU won the National Championship was 1960 (good lord)

Last time OSU won the BIG10 was 2013 ( a decade ago)

Holtman has never won the BIG and has never got out of the second round of the NCAA tournament

Dont be a meechigun stooge and go back years and years for irrelavent stats.

Unfortunately, this is Ohio State basketball.  Final four appearances once every decade or two which is the ceiling.  Half empty home arena and mind boggling loses to shitty teams is what this program is and for the most part always has been.  Not going to change.  We are a football school.

Agree with you.  when he took the job, everyone was thinking he was going to get us "over the hump" (which he may still do) since his offensive schemes were much more explosive than Urban's.  However, we have not progressed as we had hoped (might say we have regressed with the x2 loses to the ttun).  seems like when you have an offensive coach, the defense sucks and when you have a defensive head coach, the offense sucks.  hopefully knowles gets the defense straightened out quickly as our schedule next year is going to be a tough one.  absolutely have to win at ttun which is going to be difficult to do since it is on the road and we have a new qb.

you are discounting Bama like they were Purdue.  The level of success that Saban has had at Bama is unmatched.  Smart may get there, but next year will be very interesting and I would not count Saban out.  Also, Georgia is one of the biggest hotbeds of recruiting talent out there.  no surprise that they kept quite a few of their in state 4-5*'s where as Alabama has to get their players from out of state mostly.  Bama will see a dip in recruiting due to NIL as will OSU.  Out of state players, with no allegiance to either school, who want to have the best chance to win a championship (as past history will bear out) will go to Bama over OSU.  Not to mention, Saban is going to make sure his NIL program is one of the best going forward.

not sure why you were downvoted Lou.  it is the truth.  UGA and Alabama reload each year without much drop off.  consistent championship teams are ruthless on the recruiting trail and with their own rosters.  produce or be processed out.  until day gets that mentality we will never see the results UGA and Alabama have had.  National championships would be nice, but I would rather just get back to beating ttun every year.

they should easily be 3rd and 4th.

Not so sure about that.  I think LSU, Arkansas, Tennessee, and probably Texas A&M (Jimbo cant continue to fuck it up can he?) are better than Texas or OU.  There could be up and down years where they sneak in, but I think they are in for a long slog.  Texas will get there faster due to its financial resources, but it will take them a while.  Hell, Ole Miss and Auburn may make the turn around before Texas/OU sniff the playoffs.

Comment 10 Jan 2023

TCU was overmatched at every position on the field.  Cant wait to see what Texas and OU will look like when they join the SEC.  going to be some lean years for those two programs and i think in the end they will regret joining the SEC.  dont see them sniffing and SEC championship and they had a better shot getting in the playoff in the BIG 12.  I could see Texas making a few waves because of the Texas recruiting base and the donor money, but not sure Sark will last long enough to reap those benefits.

Threw for 263 yards and 3 touchdowns against us in a win, but yeah he sucks.  Pinhead.

Comment 01 Jan 2023

He is a really good coach, but if you can't beat Michigan it doesn't matter.

Comment 01 Jan 2023

I see 2-3 losses (think we beat uw) and Penn state probably (at home). Think we lose at south bend now that they have a real QB and we lose to ttun since McCarthy is the real deal.  A lot will depend on our QB and our secondary.

Comment 01 Jan 2023

Doesn't look good.  We play that ttun on their field and McCarthy is only going to get better.  Psu  always plays us tough.  Notre dame in south bend with a talented QB (hartman) will be a big challenge right off the bat.  I could see 3 losses next year depending on our QB play.
