I have given Holtmann my utmost support since he was hired.  I've made excuses for him during the bad stretches/losses.  It is past time to pay the piper and admit I was wrong.  I think he is a really nice guy and truly has grown to love Ohio State, but it is beyond clear he will never take this basketball program to even close to the level it needs to be.  What this team has turned into is beyond bad and it is crystal clear to anyone with even a remote basketball knowledge that almost all of the problems with this team are directly related to bad coaching.

I can pretty much guarantee that Gene will not pull the trigger on a firing midseason, but that's what needs to be done.  When it becomes clear you need to start over you need to start over ASAP and not drag something on that has no chance for success.  It isn't fair to the players, it isn't fair to the fans and it's not fair to Holtmann himself.

I appreciate the passion coach Holtmann tried to bring and I think he always tried his hardest to get Ohio State basketball back to the level it needs to be on.  However, it was and is a failure and it's time to move on.

Hope the competition brings out the best in these guys.  I think this day and age these types of competitions have to essentially go until late in fall camp so you can keep the second stringer on the roster.  Obviously if one guy is head and shoulders above the other you don't lead one of them on, but I don't see a scenario where that will be the case here.

My money is on McCord, but honestly that is only due to having one more year in the system and his possible good connection with Marvin.  Could go either way and I'll be happy with whoever Day decides on.  Say what you will about Day, but his track record on getting QB's to produce for him is excellent.

Well obviously quarterbacks that led us to National Championships are held in higher esteem than pretty much everyone.  Those guys benefited from playing with awesome defenses and unfortunately Stroud did not get that opportunity.  He certainly had his share of special moments though.

Well anyone comparing this to the decision is just a complete moron.  I'm assuming I didn't see that comment because it was grayed out.

Seems to be a Surge in comments here.

While I certainly can agree there is often negativity for the sake of negativity around here, that is not the case with Warren.  It is impossible to overstate how bad a job he did at handling the covid season.  Yes, certainly it wasn't all his fault, but he was the conference president and in charge of communicating to the general public and that was literally the worst part of that entire failure.

I will fully admit he has done some very positive and good things since than.  However, I personally can never trust a person to make important decisions when they have a past example of such spectacular failure at such a crucial moment.  One of the worst things about the covid decisions were that he literally had more experienced peers with other conferences (SEC, ACC, Big 12) that handled it very well and he was too proud and thought he was too smart to follow their examples.

Washington was willing to pay more money for a quarterback that was the absolute gem of their recruiting class than Ohio State was for a QB that was like their 5th option at the position?  People are surprised by this?  This kid meant infinitely more to Washington than he did to Ohio State.  Also, as someone above stated: if he becomes the starting QB here he will make way more money than he would have ever made at Washington.

It does not really matter if people like what's going on in college athletics.  The fact is that it IS happening.  Evolve or die.

I don't think anyone expects average Joe to give a bunch of money to pay for players.  However, OSU has a lot of rich boosters with plenty of extra cash and if they want to keep winning they will give money.

Traditional thought is always the later game is the game that will draw more viewers. So you would imagine Ohio State would very likely play in the later game.

Since it was discussed above, if a non-injured player sits out a playoff game they should be blackballed by the university. I'm not sure there are many things that would be more unforgivable than that when it comes to college athletics.

I know people aren't going to want to hear this but TCU is in the top 4 even if they lose (unless they're absolutely blown out).  Reason being is the committee will not overly penalize them for having to play an extra game (that OSU and Bama don't have to play) and they would lose to a team they've already beaten (making them 1-1 against K-State who is a top 10 team).

With that said, GO UTAH!  I want a chance at redemption now.  If we get blown out by Georgia then the team is exactly who we saw on Saturday.  But if they shock the world and beat Georgia and get another shot a Michigan in the National Championship, well then our heads are going to explode!
