The only thing I wanna see in regards to this program is a red banner at the top of 11W announcing Holtmann’s termination and Sueing’s retirement from turning over the basketball.

Haha I watched, but figured we weren’t the worst team in the Big Ten. Looks like the program has hit rock bottom in the conference.
All I know is I put the 500$ (house money) I made from all these Ohio promos on osu to cover the -6 spread. Thought no way they couldn’t crush Nebraska.
& here we are again, thanks coach.
The players and coaches are just going through the motions… we need energy and a new coach!
I'm sorry, but if our defense doesn't look good this coming season, he shouldn't get another year.
No college DC should have 3 or 4 years to "set up their system".
I wish they were bringing in a former DC to (co-coordinate) this year.
And both player execution and coaching game plan (out coaches) choking the last 30 seconds of both games.
I'll admit I haven't been feeling positive about CJ the past few weeks, but he completed an amazing performance NYE in the Peach Bowl. He helped mask a lot of the consistent issues this team has (poor run game, even poorer defense) and almost put the team (and defensive coaches) on his back for the win. He ran when needed, escaped pressure, and made all the throws.
If I had to critique the other night, it would be that he drops back in the pocket too quickly instead of stepping up, but that could be due to the UGA Dline in his face and overall amazing pocket awareness most plays. Also, we needed 10-15 more yards. Where was this CJ and/or play calling all season? When CJ's on his game, with competent coaching, he's the best QB in the country.
Due to all levels of the defense (DLine, LBs, CBs, S, and coaching), plus being a one dimensional offensive team most of his career, CJ doesn't have any signature wins...but I'm not blaming him and would love to have him back (I know he's going to NFL and should be the first QB drafted).
Knowles is not worth 2mil per year (change my mind), and I’m tired of the excuse that his defense is designed to give up the big play or he needs years to set up his system (when players are only in school a few years anyway). Those “big plays” cost us the ones that matter, the last two games.
This defense didn’t improve this year, and was boat raced by every halfway decent offense we played (PSU, Maryland, TTUN, Georgia). Sure, they padded stats on teams we outmatched athletically. Additionally, the secondary talent needs to improve through recruiting AND the transfer portal immediately. These guys aren’t it.
Stroud played lights out, and was the best performance I can remember from a QB this season. Wish he could play like that every game, but wow, what an impressive night from CJ!
Day called an amazing game until 30 seconds left, when he tightened up and settled for an away game 50 yard fg. Played conservative on offense against all-out blitzes from the final 30, and lost when we had a chance to win. (Doesn’t diminish the D giving up 42).
Bring in Ash, Hafley, and/or someone with nfl defensive recruiting (to work with knowles or replace). The 3 safety and big play shit ain’t working against offenses with a pulse.
Go Buckeyes!
The defense was “improved” against shit teams.
Peach Bowl Drinking Game: take a shot every time one of these things happens…
Alright, I wouldn’t say this is a “really bad” class.
Did the class meet our normal expectations over the last decade?…No. However, there’s definitely some talent and still top of the Big Ten.
I agree, we missed some positions and there’s cause for concern regarding trends on the OLine and DLine. Need some secondary players to develop and pan out as well.
Really bad seems extreme, but recruiting, nil, coaching, and winning (rival, conference, playoffs) does need to improve before the gap from the top widens more.
I’m a proud alum and will definitely continue to follow and support the university’s athletic teams. Couldn’t care less about you opinion on who to (not) follow/support, that’s a lazy tantrum response.
Unfortunately, issues have occurred over the past two years…it’s not one half. I’d like to continue to expect more (beating our rival, winning the conference, etc.)
Go Bucks!
Love that we are favored over them, however we were favored over ttun the last two years. Results matter.
Ryan Day keeps TALKING about winning, culture, overreaction, swinging, etc. in his coach-speak interviews.
He, and the brotherhood, have the opportunity for a signature win and to change the negative trajectory around the program with on-field results. Get it done on the field in Atlanta, because it’ll be a long 11 months until a meaningful game again to change the negative narrative.
I’m over the repetitive word salad interviews.
I believe they can get it done in Atlanta, but they have a smaller window for error than UGA.
Go Bucks! Beat UGA!
Puma?
At least he’s still “swinging”. I can’t be the only one that’s tired of hearing the same thing.
Serious question since I haven’t watched UGA much this year….
Are they ranked 51st in pass D because they’re mediocre, or is the number inflated because teams are playing from behind and throwing a lot?
Heard he’s better than Raiola anyway!
Upvote.
I agree I like the leadership and someone stepping up. Now I want to see it translated to the performing product.
I completely agree, they need to win or it’s time to change the staff and culture.
Additionally, all the coaches and players SAY the right things, but let’s see them PLAY the way they talk. Getting old and repetitive.
Go Bucks! Beat UGA
Bet your mortgage on Georgia to cover. Automatic Buckeye win...
However, I only bet on player props for the Bucks.
What does it say to the "better" guys at other positions on your team if you don't recruit the best players, either in hs or the portal? As a competitor, the best players on the team want more of the best players. Settling for less, out of loyalty, to not hurt someone's feelings in that position, may be detrimental to other position groups and the team.
For example, if I'm these Dlineman and Lbs, I'd want to find better cbs for next season to potentially make the defense elite.
100% perfect comment
Winning fixes a lot of issues with "culture". Recruiting the best players helps winning.
Get the best players, beat your rival, win championships. Great, winning culture.
Yep, and if Georgia can drop seven in coverage, create tighter windows, and not worry about Stroud taking off for easy yards, we could be in trouble.
He has to make the defense respect the threat of him taking off when there's no one open. This will actually create more windows for the receivers as well.
Knowles runs the opposite scheme of what Jesse Minter and most NFL D Coordinators are currently using in the league. They play more conservative between the 25s and make you earn the yards, no chunk plays. They buckle down in the Red zone and try to force fg attempts, nothing is easy. Day and Stroud were shut down in the red zone, out coached and out worked.
Knowles keeps getting burned by the big play, and his scheme wasn't affective against the better quality teams we played this season (PSU, UM).
OSU didn't even have many opportunities for red zone stops.
So the questions is...which scheme and coach would you rather have at OSU?
