I don't see any way the Bears don't trade out of the #1 spot. It's almost too easy for them. Somebody is going to make a run at a QB. As a lukewarm Colts fan, I really hope they don't F this draft up, and either trade up, or stand pat and take Levis. Or worst case, trade up to #1 to take Levis, which I've seen mocked. And is absolutely insane.

Worst case he is a solid depth piece with flexibility across the 2 deep.  Sounds like C is his best position and he'll compete for that job which is never a bad thing. Not sure he is starting Tackle material, so those positions remain wide open. Would have been nice to get one of those higher end Tackles in the portal early on, but is what it is.

Why do you keep saying this?  They were all sophomores and juniors when they won in '06, and all juniors and seniors when they won in '07.

Posted it in the Panic article, but I really think this is true.  The late UNC and Purdue losses, specifically the Purdue one, broke this team.  They never should have blown those 2 late game leads. Holtmann specials.  Then you take care of business in (again 3 close losses) against the bottom feeders of the league.  I'll allow the @Rutgers loss, but also worth mentioning we had the ball in a tie game at the end of regulation and Brice chucked a 25 ft three off the backboard with 6 seconds on the clock.

Bottom line based on the talent of this team, they should be 15-3, 14-4 at worst.  And he we are at 10-8, just an epic meltdown by everyone involved, and it starts with Holtmann.  One of the only positive trademarks of his tenure, is usually after doing this in most of January, they somehow turn it around and win a bunch of games we never thought possible in February. But this feels different.  The rebound should have already started last night at the latest. It's hard to find more than one or two wins left on the schedule.

Crazy thing to me is...in some weird alternate universe, the Bucks should at worse be 15-3 and around the top 10.  Never should have blown those late game leads against UNC and Purdue.  That's on coaching at the end of those games.  Then, there's no excuse to lose to all 3 of the bottom feeders of the league.  Only game that was borderline acceptable was @Rutgers, and even that was a winnable game in regulation.

When the margins are this close to being what they are (10-8) and what they could be (15-3/16-2). That's where coaching matters, and it just isn't happening.

I posted an entire thread on that series and yep. Only thing I'd disagree with was Egbuka is getting at least 10-12 on the 3rd down play. His defender is no where near him. That would've put the kick under 40 yds, and yeah, FG make odds go from about 10% to 90%.

Elected to turn the game off after the review on the shot clock violation. Have decided I'm not going to subject myself to this kind of officiating. How's it going since?

Yeah, in general it's probably easiest to say both teams fumbled and were fortunate not to lose it. Marv fumble though followed basic physics, he was running full speed towards the sideline, and the ball continued that momentum out of bounds. On the other hand, the Bennett pass hit McConkey low while his momentum was going away from the ball. In a much more dangerous area of the field. But instead of the ball bouncing off him and thus away from him, it checked up and went right back to him. Ahh, the whims of an oblong shaped ball.

Ugh. Thanks for reminding me they couldn't get their shit together and get a game out in 2023.
Comment 13 Jan 2023
Speaking of the ball bouncing your way (literally), keep thinking about that backwards pass/fumble to McConkey. Somehow it rolls right back to him as two Buckeyes were diving in there. All the other questionable calls and overturns and etc etc, you guys don't get that fumble to roll back to you, I think that was ball game. Would have certainly changed how both teams approached the final 12 mins.

Yout don't have to lead with your head for it to be targeting though. Especially when the receiver is defenseless, which he was. And you and apparently the replay booth guy want to bail this call out on "initial contact" being to the shoulder, which it was. Don't see anywhere in the rules where it say anything about initial contact being an automatic get out of jail free card. But since he launched, he went right through the shoulder and to the head. It doesn't undo the forcible contact to the head, of a defenseless player, because he launched. It's a stupid rule, and it's enforced even stupider. Far better if they just called it like the NFL. 15 yd unnecessary roughness, the flag can't come off. Only the most egregious I'm trying to kill a guy hits lead to an ejection. But they never take the flag away.

Why does the conversation always have to be purely about money? Only a few people have mentioned, but maybe he has something to prove to himself. Maybe he feels like he has unfinished business and wants to go one my more time for the brotherhood. He also could realize that guys who start 3 years in college typically do way better in the NFL. I mean I still think he announces he's going to the NFL any minute. But that the conversation immediately goes to pure money, and how stupid he would be to come back...it's just crazy how far we've gone down that road in this sport and as a society, in just the last 10-15 years.

Not paying attention to the basketball team, that's for sure.

OK, so the way the question is worded - you are saying:

Bears Get:  Lamar Jackson

Ravens Get: Justin Fields AND the 1st Overall Pick in the draft

How is this even generating discussion?  Jackson for Fields is questionable straight up.  Throwing in the 1st OVERALL pick?  What?

Given their age, contract, and general future projection - the more appropriate trade would be Bears give Fields, and get Jackson and whatever their 1st round pick is.

Heck, you left out the next 4 drives, which were all stops.  The defense was not THAT bad against UGA.  Especially when you look at the context of what UGA just laid on TCU.

The 1 play TD was the real back breaker, and the 2 minute drill drive.

Some good info, but clicking on the post was actually hoping for a rundown of who we think is legitimately next in line to start, because there's not a lot of household names there.
