I thought so too.

Interesting that they see him at center. Apparently, Jakob James will remain more of a guard. Also, thought his description of his playing career and his story of being a late riser makes a lot of sense. Let's hope Frye just discovered a diamond in the rough.

I think we have a 6-7 320 pounder that Frye will be coaching up at LT.

LT - Z. Michalski

LG - Donovan Jackson

C - Luke Wypler (hopefully)

RG - Matt Jones (hopefully)

RT - Josh Fryar

Agreed. The second half of the year for Hickman was brutal.

The key is - do they have a true center fielder at safety? Never had it this year. I think Stokes is up for the job. Styles+Stokes > Hickman+McCalister IMHO.

Yes, because Day has shown no ability to change (like firing an entire defensive staff).

Insert eye roll.

Comment 02 Jan 2023

Naysayers can say whatever they want...but Day is constantly willing to adapt and make the necessary changes. Dude wants to win it all no matter what it takes.

I can't imagine a better coach for the Buckeyes.

No...no...no...

Ohio State is 2nd in avg star rating. They've been in the playoff 3 of the last 4 years. Day has the highest winning percentage among active head coaches.

Instead, we're watching schools try to buy their way into elite. Thus far, we have zero proof it works over the long haul. Ohio State is giving out plenty of money to its current roster, and has focused on development (#DevelopedHere) and culture. I think they're playing the long game, and eventually the money dries out elsewhere (or reform happens via the government).

Let's all stop freaking out about everything and projecting because Ohio State didn't perform as well as we hoped against Michigan.

What are you talking about? Ward has been calling out the staff all year for roster management and PR communication. He wants LJ to retire and has called out Day on how the Michigan game has been bungled.

But what he says is true on this episode. There is zero proof that paying players via NIL builds a winner. The SEC is seeing record breaking transfers (like Texas A&M), and Bama was reported to have major locker room problems.

This is absolutely it. Birm and Ward have stated it repeatedly. OSU's philosophy has always been to take portal additions very cautiously. They recruit by declaring #DevelopedHere. Can't say that if you go wild in the portal every year, replacing your current guys.

I do think they'll land an OT at some point here, but fans need to settle down. We lost to Michigan and fans have lost their minds wanting every recruit and transfer to somehow numb themselves.

CFB is wild. I appreciate OSU's thoughtful approach.

This is what you have to do when you've recruited poorly.

Clearly Harbaugh's strategy is to avoid NIL stuff and try and make hay in the portal. Ohio State isn't in need of a portal overhaul on their roster. Apples and oranges and Buckeyes fans need to quit comparing the two.

What has happened to Ramzy? This isn’t quality writing, this is a bunch of tired tropes found on Twitter.

Is anyone going to actually start backing this team before the Peach Bowl, or are we going to keep complaining about every freaking thing?

Comment 07 Dec 2022

I've been saying the same thing to family and friends.

Gene and Day are playing the long game here. NIL is just a hot thing right now and the money is flowing from schools trying to buy themselves into the elite. Thus far, is that working out for anyone? Not really.

If Buckeye Nation can stop obsessing about ratings, I think they'll see the program has gone after high character kids. This is also a sneaky athletic class that fills a lot of needs. Still, the avg rating is good and we've managed to grab high quality players in the process. Stability, caring for the kids themselves, and setting them up while in the program via NIL will win out in the long haul. Take a deep breath people!
