Funny how you have 12 downvotes and 4 upvotes. Good to see 11 other people think your response to my post is negative. I’m not sure why you feel the need to be rude, I’d hate to see how you treat people daily if this is how you like to respond to a stranger who simply posted an opinion. Perhaps being a little nicer could help you be happier in life.

If you look at where the last 3 coaches were in years 3-4 ish of their respective careers and yes I’m even including Randy Ayers even though he was a dumpster fire at the end, all 3 of them were ahead of where Holtmann is. The man seems like as solid of an individual as it gets but it just doesn’t seem to be working. He belongs at a missouri valley school. It just is what it is. He’s not a big ten level coach
Dennis Gates first year head coach at Missouri (my wife is an alum) is an example of how a coach/leader can potentially hold a program back. They are 14-4 and middle top of SEC standings and have played really good basketball pretty much all season. He has mostly all Cuonzo Martins players and they look like a different group than just one year ago. What does that tell you? Coach Martin just wasn’t working. They were 12-21 last season. So a change was made and their culture seems really strong in a matter of 10 months. It can be done does not have to set us back 5 years. It’s a shame that we extended coach H, I felt that was premature but what do I know?
I know nobody cares but I get sick of seeing comments such as “hey Holtmann apologists, where are you now?” What does that prove? We are all buckeye basketball fans right? Truly, what’s the value in “I told you so.” So what? He’s not a great coach I agree. I agree with mostly all the criticisms. But seriously it makes me grit my teeth everytime I see a “why are all the people who stood up for holtman quiet now?” posts. It just oozes negativity, arrogance, and the mentality of “I know more than you.” And to be honest, I hate that. Let’s be proud and get through this season. It is what it is. I want more and more success as much as the next guy but we don’t have to be hateful and argue with each other. seriously I think it’s part of the reason TOSU has a bad rap nationally. It doesn’t take very many of us acting like idiots to give us a bad name. I want to see the team play with pride and it seems that’s gone away which bothers me more than anything
Remember when Jim O’Brien was fed up with the effort from the starters in the 2003-2004 season not showing effort? We played Bobby knights texas tech team and he started 5 walk on/bench players, 2 of which were Nick Dials and Ugo Nwanko. Can’t remember the other 3, sure someone on here could. We didn’t play great in the game but only lost by I think 8. Season was a wreck as it was and it turned out to be Jim’s last season. Why doesn’t H try that?! What’s he afraid of? Losing? He’s been pretty good at that……Give the bench guys some minutes, there really isn’t much to lose
Who would have thought? Just wait until we play teams that are actually good. This is painful. Thankfully didn’t watch any. Man I hope we can right the ship but I’m starting to really hope we can get Pat Kelsey before someone else does. But I think I’m dreaming
This comment made me laugh so hard it should be upvoted x 100 lol! Really spot on lol
Did anybody else watch this game, yawn, and know we’d lose? Chance to win in regulation and my heart rate stayed in the 60s predicting we wouldn’t make a play and get a good look, and low and behold a rushed three off the backboard with 5 seconds left. Fortunately Rutgers didn’t make something to beat us then. Holtmann doesn’t have a clue.
You can tell a lot by body language and the body language just doesn’t look good to me. I’m no longer a Holtmann guy. It’s a shame because he seems to be a really standup guy the kids who play here seem to have good character and there have been infrequent incidents off court seemingly. We aren’t getting what we are paying Holtmann to do and that’s compete for big ten titles
We were 15 point favorites? Man I need to start betting on this team, particularly when it plays in January…..
nice call at the end there zebra, really fouled the crap out of him didn’t we? Really hard to root for this team. Zero chemistry zero leadership. Is it football season yet?
We do NOT want Chris Mack. Archie failed at Indiana and Sean had some serious allegations. I’m as frustrated as the next fan, but if you’re gonna throw names, don’t suggest replacement coaches that wouldn’t be upgrades.
Must be January, Ohio state basketball drops back to back games.
And that is how you finish 4th in the big ten
This is one of the best comments and summaries I've read. I completely agree with this!
I am as heartbroken as the next guy. This will bother me for a long time. But keep this in mind. If we throw a pick in our own zone that results in a touchdown, and we miss two field goals against this team, are we coming back from that? Most fans that understand what I'm trying to say know the most likely answer to this question.
This was the most complete game the 2022 Ohio State Buckeyes played. Stroud left it ALL out there. He dropped his nuts and took his and ran the ball. That's why we even had a chance at the last second kick! When it sailed left I nearly cried from being in pain. But I'm SO damn proud of this team I could barely talk at the end of the game.
This team had to listen to "you are too soft, you can't beat Michigan, stroud isn't a leader or elite, shouldn't have been in New York, you got here for luck, don't deserve to be in, Alabama should have been." Anybody who said this CRAP isn't saying it now, and if they are, they are LOSERS.
We witnessed one of the greatest football games ever played against without question the two best college football teams this season.
Finally someone with some common sense. The man has been here for 13 games and was going against the best of the best. With what he had to work with personnel wise, we did the best we possibly could. Cam Brown made some plays as well and he had been struggling some this season.
I truly think we are nationally disliked because we have a high percentage of ridiculous fans. All schools have good and bad fans. We have a lot of fantastic fans, but with that comes a small percentage of ridiculous fans. I'm not thrilled with some of Jim Knowles scheme and it burned us in a tough spot the other night. The man had 13 games, give him some time! Cam Brown also played a very good game.
Glad I’m not the only one who sees this.
My favorite comment so far. I wish more of our fans thought this way. The fact we even got here was nothing short of a miracle. Oregon state doesn’t mount an amazing 4th quarter comeback against Oregon, Utah doesn’t play in pac 12 title game. Utah was the only team that was gonna knock USC down. Let’s not forget South Carolina helped us by knocking down Tennessee and then Clemson in a matter of two weeks to ensure we got there. I mean we were just so blessed to be there. But, watching that kick sail left was about as gut wrenching a feeling as I can ever remember.
CJ played an amazing game. I am very proud of him. This one will hurt for a long long time.

I usually defend CH but not gonna do it here. I’m furious with him right now. How do you not guard the inbounder? The foul shooting killed us! If nance misses that shot we probably aren’t talking about a lot of this. Kid did make a hell of a shot. UNC played crappy ball and took tons of bad shots and still won. The officials knew to help them too. BS! This is gonna be the norm. Middle of the pack in the big ten, maybe a first round ncaa victory then likely a loss. Mediocre basketball with above average talent. Frustrating for sure.
now the positives. Sensabaugh and Key made some really sweet shots down the stretch when we HAD to have them. This team is capable of an ncaa tournament run, but not sure they will be well coached enough for that to happen unless we get a lucky ncaa draw with favorable matchups and the other teams choke instead of us
Many would believe that. I also understand you but answer me this. If usc goes down, 11-2 final record. Who DOES belong in that 4th spot if it isn’t us?……
I agree entirely. However, Utah has absolutely nothing to lose; USC? Everything. That does matter sometimes.
But ultimately USC just has too much talent offensively
I just can’t see that usc team losing to utah a second time. Hope I’m wrong. Usc looked fantastic against Notre dame who has a good defense.
