This reminds me of how I felt in John Cooper's final game, the disastrous Outback Bowl game, when an unranked South Carolina team absolutely dominated the Buckeyes 24-7. As the debacle unwound and OSU players started getting hit with 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalties, I was jumping up and down cheering, knowing OSU now HAD to fire him and find a suitable replacement.
I will never root against a Buckeye team, but for the future of this program, they may need to bottom out even more to force Gene to make the change.
Maybe Day will have this team ready to win The Game next year..
Here's hoping he has a long, healthy and successful NFL career.
Check out the backup Ravens RB just give up on pursuit while Andrews blows right past him.
I miss the days of having a powerhouse hoops program. It always made the winter and spring so much more damn fun.
I guess females shouldn't be cops, doctors or politicians either?
THIS. 100% THIS.
So much of what I love about college football is being absolutely wrecked by $$ and it started a long time before NIL with TV dictating terms, huge coaching contracts (only for them to walk for a better deal), etc..
My peak OSU fandom (I'm 52) was with the hiring of Jim Tressel, the epic win in Ann Arbor in '01 after 13 years of Cooper, Mike Doss announcing he was coming back to OSU for ALL THE RIGHT REASONS, the incredible run in '02 of nail biters, Cie Grant getting up and singing Carmen Ohio to the team on the practice field the night before the Miami game and then the roller coaster of a game to win it. I remember getting a little depressed a week or two after that win over Miami, for I knew in my heart of hearts that I had just witnessed the mountain top and it would never be so good again.
Exactly. Not sure why your comment has still garnered more down votes than up.
Yep.. I already watched more NFL this year than I had in the last 10 year, combined. At least NFL players have signed contracts and you know how long they will be playing for a certain team. Between these NIL 'collectives' (with zero transparency) and kids now allowed to jump ship, it's begging for abuse. They'd better find a way to fix this garbage and fix it fast.
Couldn't agree more. I wouldn't come on here and tell others how to spend their $$, it's their own business, but I find the entire idea of this type of 'donation' to be ridiculous and insulating. If this is what it's going to mean to be a 'fan' of Ohio State football in the future, I'll find plenty of other things to do with my time. If paying for tickets / parking / concessions / gear is no longer enough, then bye bye..
I look forward to possibly winning a first round NCAA tourney game and then losing by 18 in round 2.
I laughed this week when Holtmann's popped up as a possible target for Texas in an article on CBS.
Thanks. (I missed that obviously)
I just read that he had to be intubated at UC. Ooof
No doubt. How could the Bills (or even the Bengals) be expected to come out and play football after this?
I first thought he collapsed due to the nature of the tackle (looked like Higgins helmet caught the guy beneath the chin), but you quickly saw it wasn't a concussion, but something even more serious.
There was a Dutch (?) soccer player that collapsed on the pitch a few years ago with a heart attack. They gave him CPR on the field. He fully recovered and played in the World Cup this year. I (obviously) hope this young man has a similar recovery.
Need a few first downs now. Don't get hyper conservative.
Get 7. Do not play for 3
FINALLY a stop. Now go down and score again.
This game is off the hook
