Was checking out Hartline's Twitter to see if he was saying anything on Tate & Inniss out of curiosity. Noticed he liked a couple of Jaydn Davis tweets over the past 24 hours. Given a likely expanded role coming soon looks like he may be homing in on his guy.

I think we need to step up our game as a program in the recruiting NIL landscape, but I'm ok with a hard stance being taken against lurking family members looking for handouts outside of what the recruit gets. If we lose recruits, even elite ones, for that so be it.

Is that a function of the DEs not performing or the secondary? I'm not opposed to moving on from Larry, but I think the Line not landing sacks the past few years is heavily correlated to watching DBs get toasted. Opposing OCs are not going to have the QB sit back there on long developing routes when they can pick apart the secondary.

The problem is businesses doing NIL can equate it to an ROI via marketing. A general person doing it is purely doing so out of being a fan, but the average fan would probably rather take that money to go see a game or pay bills than make an 18-year old a millionaire. Donations only make sense for wealthier people who have loose change and/or want a write off. Even then it is an odd value proposition for anyone outside of die hard athletic boosters. The program and collectives are going to have to get more creative for donations from regualar folks to work. VIP access, NIL days to meet the players, special events, etc. The stars will likely have to take one for the team if the whole team is the beneficiary. I don't know how much the program can work with them, but surely there are creative ways to get donations. That or figure out how to make a recruit/player stock market.

With the largest fan base in the country and one of the largest alumni bases, you'd think even if we could not find some sugar mommas and daddies we would at least find a way to harness the collective power. From what I've gathered we don't need to beat a lot of these schools in total dollars because of a preference to come here but we need to be in the ballpark. I don't love the upfront payments but have to figure something out. Birm is basically saying we'd have 3 or 4 of the top players in the country if not for NIL. Instead two will end up at Bama and one at UGA, the teams we compete with for championships. These are kids we want badly with no character concerns. Surely there has to be a balance that can be found between not paying at all and becoming an ATM for kids looking to cash checks. Sure, we can point to our active roster being amongst the highest in the country, but that's still a lot of risk rolling the dice on. For every Harrison there is a Babb. I work with startups and founders/early employees always talking about what their equity might be worth in 4-5 years forgetting that 95%+ don't make it.l for a variety of reasons.

Hartline had interest in the UC role. Whether or not he wanted that one or not it is clear he doesn't intend to stay as just a WR coach or passing game coordinator. Given he is already listed as passing game coordinator is it that big of a jump to a non play calling OC? I'm good with him being promoted to OC unless Day has any real intentions to give up playcalling in which case I think he should bring in someone with experience and make Hartline co-OC. Can't be in the keep Hartline at all costs crowd and then say unless it means promoting him to the one non-HC role above him.

If it was a play-calling job Maybe, but I don't see Hartline having an issue with the role as it currently is. Also Maybe if he is OC he can sprinkle some of his pixie dust on other positions on the trail.

Did well against Mayer earlier in the season who is top projected TE in draft. At this point I'd take elite TEs vs elite WRs if we had to face something on D.

Agree it'll be tough for DE, but with Downs talent and a thin S position wouldn't surprise me for him to be in a next man up position for big snaps. Ransom might he gone as well.

Perfect excuse to hire a former elite Buckeye or two as entry level coaches. See if we can shake any more Hartlines off the Buckeye tree without sacrificing experience in the upper ranks.

This is a great take. Give me the guys who watched the game licking their chops wanting their chance to stack gold pants. Any recruit that left thinking f*ck those skunk weasels with hatred brewing in their souls can be signed up.

Went to the game and it was pretty electric for an unranked match up; much better than I anticipated. Quasi night game and UF dominated beginning to end with two RBs going for 100+ yards. Weather was perfect too. Not saying I am worried, just not a Miami game with 5k fans and a hopeless looking team. Their Kentucky loss doesn't look great anymore, but other losses are UGA, Tennessee, and LSU.

I don't see him shutting it down unless he gets bad news from 2nd opinion. He is just too competitive to miss a national championship run. It is two months until the playoffs and will have been 6+ weeks since Iowa at the BCG. I say put him on ice until Michigan week and reevaluate. If we lose, clearly he shuts it down. When we win, BCG could be a good time to get him going. Indoors and mediocre west division.
