I have a hard time believing that Weiss hacked Jim’s email and sent messages without Jim asking him to do it.

AD support or not, he’s still in hot water with the NCAA and it keeps getting uglier with every denial. An article on ESPN said he’s facing a multi-game suspension at this point. Between this and the non-suspension of a player who was charged with a felony, the whole “Michigan Man” mantra is beginning to take on a negative connotation nationally (in places other than Ohio).
Holtmann is a good guy, but not a good coach. He manages to get the least out of each and every team.
My guess is he was deleting an arrest record for one of the players. Someone should’ve told him they already knew about it and the sweeping under the rug was already in process.
Yeah, there were several bs calls that helped Seattle. It’s probably bad officiating and nothing more than human error, but with sports gambling legal in so many places, my skepticism is on high alert.
Stroud will probably go pro, but it’s only a matter of time before someone stays because they are making enough in college and still enjoying it. Maybe they want the degree, maybe the NIL is enough, and/or maybe they just aren’t ready to turn the game into work, but someday soon, a top NFL pick will stick around for their senior season. That person might be CJ. I guess we’ll see.
I remember the old days when refs would swallow their whistle inside of a minute because nobody wanted the game decided by a foul call. If time was running out you needed to make a jumper because if you took the ball to the lane, you were going to be fouled and a ref wasn’t going to bail you out. Now it’s the complete opposite. Officials are looking to make a call. I preferred a no call to call everything. In a perfect world, we would have some sort of device that would allow an official to go back and look at the play and make the correct call.
I’m a Holtman defender and I’m done. I’ve officially run out out of excuses. He’s a likable guy, or at least he was, but now, I don’t know what it is but I just want to punch him in the face. I can’t wait until we play Michigan, not because I think we will win (Michigan found a way to lose their game tonight also) but because there’s a decent chance that Juwan will punch him.
I never said anything about Gene holding the cards for NIL. What I said is with the changes, it may be time for someone new. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to have an athletic director who has some new ideas and suggestions on developing partnerships and relationships.
No complaints from me, even if Gene leaves OSU. I appreciate what Smith has done for OSU but with all of the changes (NIL) it may be time for someone new.
Damn. Now what am I supposed to do today? I have nothing new to complain about. I guess I can circle back to the defense.
People talking about next year being a 3-4 loss season is ridiculous. Could it happen, sure, but 1. we don’t even know what the roster will look like next year and 2. despite all the talent that’s leaving, outside of Georgia and possibly Michigan and Alabama, every other school would gladly trade rosters with OSU.
We’ll most likely pull a few players from the portal and we are absolutely loaded at the skill positions and our defense should be vastly improved.
Predicting CSH starts at one of the corner spots.
The guy entered the portal so he could transfer to USC. Our only real shot at him would’ve been to throw a huge bag of cash and a guaranteed starting position, and our staff doesn’t do either of those things.
Hopefully someone sees the opportunity at OSU and jumps in the portal with the sole purpose of transferring to OSU. We’ll see, but something tells me OSU will be fine.
Didn’t Corum tear a ligament? Maybe not, but if so that’s a big injury for a guy who relies on his lateral quickness. I know guys come back a lot faster these days, but most take a full year to fully recover and return to pre-injury form. He might be back for game 1, but will he be the same type of back next year? I don’t know.
I was wrong about CJ also. I didn’t think he had that fight in him. I thought Georgia was a better version of Michigan and we would get worked by 3 td’s. - I only wish op would’ve been right about Knowles learning from the Michigan game, but in the 4th with a double digit lead and the one thing you can’t do is give up a big play, you roll the dice and do exactly that. I get he’s trying to get a sack or force a turnover there and effectively end the game, but as we saw, if anything goes wrong on the back end or you don’t get there in time, it’s a game changer the other direction and it was a game changer.
In some ways I think wow, down our top two wr’s, top two rb’s, top two te’s and still should’ve won is remarkable, but the other part of me says we lost another big game under Day.
I think Harbaugh’s chances of getting an NFL offer are al little better than you winning the lottery. The Broncos have already reached out to him and the Colts are reportedly interested as well. He’s got a proven track record in the NFL and will be a popular name in coaching searches. This report is just saying if someone offers, he will accept and there’s a very good chance he will get an offer. Even if he doesn’t, recruits will have to wonder if he will be the coach if they commit to Michigan.
Watching the semifinal games, what appeared to be the better team, lost both games. The officials intervened at crucial times in the games, but OSU and Michigan both made crucial mistakes. OSU with the lead and Michigan while making their comeback. We should have an OSU vs. Michigan national championship game, but maybe it’s better that we didn’t. I don’t know why, but that’s what people say, so I said it too.
It was clear Harbaugh wanted out after last year. I don’t know if he doesn’t like recruiting, if the pay cut he was forced to take created some hard feelings, or if it’s something else (like just being an NFL guy vs college), but he wants back in the league. He told his own guys that he was leaving if the job offered and I’m sure there’s an NFL team that will take him. I’m a Washington fan and I would take Harbaugh over Rivera.
The one concern with him leaving is they could get a young, hungry coach who loves recruiting and will generate excitement within the community and really get the NIL thing going. Then again, they could mess up and hire someone who returns them to the Michigan team from the previous 15 years. I’m okay with that.
Agreed we need elite corners and/or a system that doesn’t put them on an island with absolutely no safety help with an 11 point lead and less than ten minutes to go in the game.
This is disgusting. What a creep. Also, I was really starting to regret the McCord over McCarthy decision, but JJ basically choking away that game yesterday diminished those regrets for now. We’ll see how next year goes.
Agreed the future is still bright, but I have major concerns for the defense. Talent is there, but last night with under 10 minutes to go in the 4th and a two score lead, our DC is rolling the dice. The one thing you can’t allow in that situation is to get beat deep and give up a quick score, but we run a defense that’s basically all or nothing? It just doesn’t make sense.
It cost us the game against Michigan and basically the national championship. I was kind of on the fence about the defensive system because I’ve been told it’s complex and takes a couple of years to fully grasp and understand. Maybe that’s true, but it still has a gamblers mentality and that’s not what we need. Knowles’ system is basically designed to offset a more talented offense, by taking risks and we don’t need that. I would take a bend but don’t break defense over this all or nothing scheme. Something in the middle would be great.
Alabama would have beat Georgia last year if they didn’t lose their top wr during the game and they were already down another receiver coming into the game. OSU had the exact same situation. Down JSN already, then you lose MHJ and it’s detrimental. Unfortunately our offense isn’t plug and play. Many of the routes are based off the coverage. You can’t just put in a guy who has barely run the offense and expect him to know what to do. As we saw against Clemson a few years ago, if the receiver runs the wrong route, it’s an int.
I think this was why so many of us were frustrated that all McCord did during his 4th quarter appearances is hand the ball off. Our young wr’s could’ve gained some valuable experience if we would’ve thrown the ball some in those blowouts.
I love the Buckeyes but I’m concerned that CJ has one foot out the door already and doesn’t care if they win or lose. My heart says OSU finds a way, my head says the tv will be off at halftime. 48-13 bad guys.
Vegas must be expecting OSU to cover. The line shift is to discourage wagers on OSU, yet they’re still holding double the action on Georgia. Ideally they want even money on both sides so they can collect their 10%, but they are comfortable with the additional exposure on Georgia. That says a lot. Very interesting.
We are closer to coaches openly saying something like I got a $2 million NIL package deal for an elite transfer qb if anyone is interested than we are having a school punished for tampering.
- If they want to stop it, all the NCAA has to do is issue a $25 million fine for tampering and schools will quit because money talks.
