I'm glad you liked it! That was a suggestion from my Pops.
I'm with you that Hartline will be on track to succeed as OC. After all, he's succeeded at everything else in his coaching career, so why not add calling plays to the list? I understand being a great WR coach and recruiter is different than having the keys to the offense. Still, Ryan Day will have hand-picked Hartline to call plays if he gives up that role, so I have confidence Day – being the elite play-caller he is – would know what Hartline is capable of with that kind of responsibility. Hopefully, it works out for Ohio State.
I agree with this take, Vball. Jack Sawyer needs to be on the field more than he was in 2022. I think you have a younger player in their second year – Caden Curry, C.J. Hicks, somebody like that – at the position to mix them into the lineup without having to take JT Tuimoloau or Sawyer off the field.
By the way, Mitch Melton was a lock to start at the Jack last season before he suffered the knee injury a year ago. Maybe he will come back and is a natural fit for the position since he would finally be healthy.
I also am a big fan of Kourt Williams. I hope he can be a player that frequently rotates into the back end of the defense in 2023, as he is good in coverage and one of the best tacklers on the team, in my view.
Griffin wrote a great preview on tonight's game, though, if you are interested: https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-basketball/2023/01/136957/basketball-preview-ohio-state-in-desperate-need-of-win-on-the-road-at-nebraska
I wrote about my thoughts on the basketball team in Monday's Skully and about the importance of Justice Sueing in turning the program around on Tuesday, but I just didn't have much to add for tonight's game. After all, it's a 10-7 Ohio State team up against a 9-9 Nebraska team, and there's not exactly a ton of hype surrounding the Basketbucks at the moment.
To continue the Spider-Man analogy, ol Peter Parker would have been impaled with a glider by Venom had Harry Osborne not sacrificed himself. When Stroud needed someone to “save him,” like the defense for example, they allowed five touchdowns to Hassan Haskins and then explosive plays that might still be happening as we speak in the Shoe. If the defense does that, Stroud ends up being the hero.
(I know the analogy isn’t bulletproof but I think it’s a pretty fun one. I like the Coop one, too!)
Dan – Can I take Monday off work?
Grammatically that is correct but that's not what the kids are saying these days.
From the trusty Urban Dictionary:
You are THAT MFer. You are on a completely different plane of existence in relation to the rest of these lame wannabes.
My attorney: “Your Honor, I’m sorry but my client is completely innocent. He’s just built different.”
The Judge: “I️ can see that. Sir, I’m sorry for wasting your time. I️ didn’t realize that you were THAT MFer.”
That is correct. I meant hire in the sense of either promotion from within or finding someone outside. If they choose the latter, they'd need to cut ties with at least one of the 10 full-time staffers. We will see which route they take.
