Thad set the standard and showed Ohio St can be a perineal threat to win the Big10, Big10 Tournament and get to the final four.

This is year 6 for Holtmann. Because of Covid, he didn’t have a chance to win the Big10 tourney or get to the final four in one of the 6 years. This year isn’t over, but they aren’t winning the Big10 even if they run the table.

So he has had 20 chances to win a title and has 0. To call him mediocre is probably a reach. His tenure has been a failure by any measure.

Can he turn it around? Probably not. But I hope I’m wrong. I won’t be rooting against him, but I’m certainly not optimistic.

Even though Minnesota isn't good, and we are at home, this feels like a swing game in the season. If we can get a comfortable win, get some confidence back and get Zed healthy, we have the talent to make a run in March. But if we lose this game, we are closer to being a bubble team then we are a realistic threat to do anything in the dance.

I do like the attitude of the players. No one is afraid to shoot and everyone wants to be great. We need some balls to bounce our way so we can get our swag back.

True. But Day is still the HC. If you thinks he’s going to completely give up so influence over what is called offensively, you would be foolish. He has a big ego like every other HC at his level.

I love the hire. Bring in someone who has a proven track record of putting up big points at a college level. Rehab his career like Saban does.

The issue I see is that the Knolwes Defense is designed to let the safeties make plays and relies on everyone else doing their job. I dont think anyone would objectively look at this roster and say we have strong playmakers, or first round NFL type talent at this position. The solution is to get better safeties!! I don't understand why we are struggling so badly to recruit 5 star talent here. We have guys playing in the secondary all over the league....

This article is on point!!

When is just good enough every year not good enough? He clearly inherited a MUCH better situation than Thad, but his results are not even in the same league. Meanwhile, our rivals have made the Sweet 16 FIVE years in row, many of those times with inferior talent.

I agree, next year is the year to put up or shutup. Go Bucks!

I have defended Holtmann his entire tenure, but the results of the last 5 games (minus Illinois) have been awful.

Blown out by a medicore Iowa team at home. Struggling to beat a medicore Indiana team at Home. Getting blown out by a poor Rutgers team and BLOWN OUT by 8 at home against the worst team in the B1G.

Too early to call for his job, but this is inexcusable.

Maybe Malaki will stay now? Only positive.

Go Bucks!

EVERY program in the country is ONE bad coaching hire away from a decade (or more) of being mediocre. The only factor that has protected us from this downturn, that has affected nearly every other elite program in the county, is good OR great coaches since Woody was hired with zero exceptions! If we keep the elite coaches in Columbus, the elite program will stay with it!!

Good for Urban! Drake the Snake ran his ass out of town to satisfy his own political agenda/massive ego. Glad he is getting another shot.

As long as he doesn’t coach in the B1G, I’m fine wi. Whatever he wants to do! Let him try to enhance his legacy and make some serious $$$
