Height is not an advantage for an interior offensive lineman, simply because of the leverage factor (lower center of gravity allows you to get under the defender, which is very useful in the run game).  Tackles are usually tall, which usually translates to a bigger wing span which creates better separation from the defender in pass pro, but the focus should ALWAYS be on the foot speed and balance.  Stop moving the legs (and we've had a few on the O-Line) and you become a turnstile, then someone in the backfield pays the price. 

Vincent looks to have some decent footwork (quick kick step), but tends to get the hands outside the shoulder pads a bit ....

Still, a good pick up from the portal and who knows how good he'll be after getting some top notch coaching ??  I remember the last O-Line transfer we picked up was a very solid kid a few years back ....

So, Frye figures he'll be able to teach an offensive tackle to make the line calls from the center position so quickly ..... time will tell, but I'm rootin' for the young man .... personally, I'd feel better about him working a guard position (I like how his height helps him get under the defender in run blocking).

My point exactly .... whiffing on the talented corners and tackles on the first go-round, while the Puke & Blue were able to upgrade their poor recruiting effort at the HS level, with some talent from the portal .... 

Nothing will happen .... TTUN are permitted to shrug any transgressions off .... consider this program coated with teflon ..... unbelievable ....

Corners ?? ...... Offensive Tackles ?? ..... crickets .........

Hahaha ..... Hairball's biggest mistake, if he wanted to get an NFL job, was to do an interview with a team - just talking with him makes you realize he's nuts ....

We face this every year - line up turnover.... if the coaches have done their job, we'll have players ready to step in as starters .... we'll be fine .....

Seriously, did anyone expect a different order..... those setting up the rankings just went with Georgia beating TCU, TCU beating Michigan and Michigan beating OSU ..... once again, that loss to TTUN comes back to bite us in the final rankings .... the most important thing we can take away from this season is that Georgia knows they were fortunate to repeat and that they played for the NC a week ago ....

The last time I looked, Ohio State is not based in the southern part of the United States, which means ugly, wet, cold weather generally finds its way to Columbus down the the November home stretch.  If we were based out of Miami, then I'd say bring on the Air Raid offense and throw the ball 50 times, but if you can't run the ball in November, then you're going to struggle when it counts (i.e. The Game) ...

Balance is what we need on offense - which is exactly how you keep defenses off-balance.  Try to shut down one aspect and you murder them with the other .... 

As for McCord - you're going to see a gamer, like Max Duggan or Joe Burrow - not flashy, but a decent arm and good mobility (with perhaps more willingness to run down field than CJ did this season).  He'll make good decisions, protect the ball and fight like hell to win.  I believe that he'll be a huge surprise to many .....

I'm a Buckeye fan, but also a college football fan, so I'll be watching the game Monday night.  I hope that the Bulldogs hammer TCU (although I really like the Horned Frogs), reminding the country that OSU was a missed field goal away from playing in the NC game and proving that we can play with the best teams in the country.

Day had no issues with Fields running, so he won't have a problem with two, Joe Burrow-like QB's in his pocket, running ...

McCord can run as well, so I see this as a very even competition, but in the end, I believe Kyle will be the QB under center when the ball is snapped in the Fall ....

All I needed to know about Ryan Day was how he took the "legendary" DC from Clemson to school in the semi-finals - running plays while the Clemson defense was still looking at the bench for their signals - best play calling job I've seen ...

Sorry, but 50 yards is in his wheel house and as I mentioned, there's three parts to a FG - the snap, the hold and the kick - break down in any area and it doesn't happen.  I firmly believe that with a miss that awkward and wide, the snap was low, resulting in a poor placement of the hold .... 

You had one job to do ..... sorry, but unless the snap or placement of the hold went south, Ruggles was inside his expected range and he simply muffed the kick .... time to get off Day's play calling as the reason for the miss .... TTUN's kicker booted a 60+ yard kick against TCU .... I feel bad for Noah, but kicking under pressure is what kickers do .... I'd like to see a close up of the snap and hold, as I'm not convinced that it was clean .... tough loss, but Day's play calling put 41 points on the best defense in the country, despite missing his top 2 backs, his top 2 tight ends and his top 2 receivers.....

Hope Hairball stays put and we eat his lunch in the Outhouse next season .... the Rivalry is reborn, finally .....

Of course it was .... I saw Knowles run out on the field and trip Ransom, so he could give up that long TD .... The coaches didn't lose this game, it was the players (our secondary seems to have a lot of difficulty back-peddeling, then turning their hips - they just fall down) ...

TTUN will not beat TCU, so the bigger upset will be OSU beating Georgia .... I don't foresee an OSU / TTUN final, so OSU will beat TCU by a score of 42 - 28 and take home the NC trophy ....

Bottom line - If Williams isn't 100% and I mean, 100%, then he can take a seat and watch Hayden and Chip run wild through the Bulldogs.  I'm sorry, but we need fully healthy bodies on the field, not those that want to "give it a shot" .... Reckless abandon is how we need our backs to run, so unless Miyan is ready to put it all out there, he needs to let the healthy backs roll ..... I predict Chip will have an insanely good game and the only one in that stadium who can stop him will be Coach Day ....
