Woulda, shoulda, coulda but Wypler might be the biggest departure from the OL not because of draft stock but  because it would galvanize the center of the OL and let coaches focus on tackle development

On a related note, I don’t understand why a player could not test the waters of the NFL, through pro days and combines and then declare their intentions. It’s like saying a graduating student can’t interview for a job while they are a student. Also, it’s not like the draft doesn’t change - usually after the first 5 picks it’s chaos

The rout could have been avoided if the CFP had ranked the teams "ability" instead of "deservedness" by going 1 UGa vs 4 TCU and 2 SCum v 3 OSU. I am the TV execs were not too pleased with the outcome last night. Probably better to have a blow out in one of the semifinal games than on the NC.

I was under the impression that turning down raises put stress on the assistant coaches because everyone was on a (government)  pay scale (more strict than today's compensation schedule) and you could not earn more (or close) to what your boss was earning. Plus, it would have been heresy if a "football coach" was making more than a professor.

Bring him in as a consultant a la Rhoads and a couple of other guys we've had.

Gives him a chance to chill, contribute but not on a critical basis and see what else opens up in the next year or so. Probably doesn't need the money.

Oh wise and learned 11W posters (both of you). Can you tell me the purpose of copying and pasting the Recruiting News series without any context or comments about what is new/different/changed?

I'm an old guy and. it's like getting the same daily paper delivered to your house 3 times in one day. See I told you I was old.

I would like to see Chip as our short yardage specialist - kind of like the way SCum used Hassan  Haskins (??) and another guy in a similar role this year. HH was almost unstoppable on 3/4 and 1/2 even though everyone knew it was coming.. Currently on the Tennessee Titans roster.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, said someone some time.

I am onboard with the original NIL concept that would allow athletes to earn money for their NIL, just like any other college student. However, it has gone off the rails, starting with NIL for recruits.

While I am hopeful it self corrects in a couple years I don't give it much hope. There is no central leadership and the NCAA is sitting back in leather chairs laughing their asses off. Chortling at Power 5 conference that wanted autonomy, NIL and the like.

Also, there doesn't need to be an endless stream of money. It can be targeted towards high end football recruits. Most SEC schools have considerably fewer varsity teams than Big Ten schools, so if they are using a collective it can be spread dollars around to fewer teams/athletes. Then throw in the boosters and it is a freakin' free for all. The boosters were always there and ordering of the secret menu - Now you get to see  the prices on the menu.

Looks like he had offers from South Carolina, Iowa, Nebraska, Ga Tech and UAB.

Unofficial visit at Alabama and camped at Kentucky.

Was the 728th rated prospect in his class

I am only speculating but I am guessing he re-injured his high ankle sprain (during practice). Not sure he was rested for the flu.

The cutting off  "of long socks" suggests to me he had a tight tape job for the ankle and or compression type socks. From what I could tell on his two carries he could basically go forward but had a hard time cutting or moving laterally.

OK

I call bullshit. It looks fabricated but even is it is real/legit. This pylon is placed on the sideline opposite the chains approximately near the first down.

Crew should have spotted the ball and brought the  chains from across the field to measure. This is what is most maddening about this PAC 12 crew - total lack of mechanics and communication - kinda just going through the motions. I thought Ryan Day was going to burst his jugular a couple of different times.

Added bonus, for those who don;t know what to do if you are approached by a group of crazy clowns?

Go for the juggler !!

You win as a team and lose as a team.

There are probably 8-10 different ways the ball could have bounced and the flags flown that would have resulted in a Buckeye victory.

I'll chose to remember an Ohio State team that was better than #1 UGA for 60 minutes on 12/31/22 and  fought hard too the end.
