It was excellent- I was more into that game than any other recent one I've watched. If not for this all-access approach, I would have changed the channel to get away from the commercials and OSU's subpar play. I can put up with the coaches' yelling to see first hand the immense difference in coaching styles. Holtzman really seems to be a generalist yelling, 'Go!', 'Rebound', 'Block out', all  basic commands like we'd tell each other in our HS Y-Ball days. His players looked to be longing for real direction and Coach H had zero answers. Johnson on the other hand earned his pay and was coaching like his hair was on fire during every bounce of the ball- I was extremely impressed by him and his team's desire which is something OSU lacked. This entire telecast was an indictment of Holtzman's tenure and I would not have come to that conclusion without viewing it in this way.

I agree with Cdub4- he's a west coast guy and the midwest can be a culture shock to someone from the west. Plus USC is becoming a power again, has a talented roster with the Heisman Trophy QB returning and a real shot at not only making the playoff but winning it. Was NIL the deciding factor... who knows? USC is a private school where the spoken language is money so up-front cash from crazy azz boosters could have been a factor. But to paraphrase an appropriate quote- "we're looking for volunteers, not mercenaries".

Kinda weird, isn't it, that Knowles and Day are both preaching EFFORT? It's almost like they think effort was what got us steamrolled by scUm. I couldn't stomach watching The Game 4th quarter and missed the plays where it became a rout so maybe that's what they're meaning. But still I didn't think effort was the issue as much as schematic match up, play-calling and overall lack of man-on-man physicality at the point of attack.

At least scUm will get smoked by UGa too.

I totally agree... winning is hollow if it's not done the right way. I mean who among us ever wanted to emulate The U? Remember what Tressel decreed, "...you will be proud of your young people in the classroom, in the community, and most especially [against Michigan].”

Day has nailed Tressel's first two points IMO but has slipped a notch on the latter which he needs to get corrected; I believe he will. To credit TTUN, their coach has pulled them up off the canvas and it is time for us to make the necessary programmatic adjustments to counter what they have become. This is why we're rivals over our histories... each program pushes the other to be great (and yes it pains me to say that).

Holtmann on Zed Key: “I think his conditioning is solid. I wouldn't say – I think it's good, I don't think it's great. I think we're gonna have to continue to watch it.”

Shouldn't a college bball player be in "great" condition and isn't it the coach's job to ensure that he is? I know he's a "big man" but still... That said, I think he looks more in shape than he has the past two years.

Domers ain't coming- NBC will pay them $80 to 100 mil and they can keep calling their own shots. Stanford and Cal are joined at the hip- can't see either coming without the other. Seems like the B1G could eventually be two 9 or 10 team divisions. They could have all the largest markets west of the Rockies if they wanted to add to LA- Denver, SLC, Phx, Seattle, Portland, Bay Area.

i don't know why this guy seems so intent on bashing OSU. If he's trying to appeal to the very top 4.0 students well, good luck with that because it's a limited pool of players that are interested in Stanford, Duke, Northwestern, etc. The paradigm of the student-athlete continues to change before our eyes and there's nothing wrong with a kid who wants to "major" in football or basketball, see if he can earn the big pro money and then return later to complete a degree.

I'm hoping Freeman's current team gets their butts wiped all over Ohio Field come 9/3.

Maybe someone already stated this but in this day and age is there still such thing as a "3-point specialist"? After watching the tournament with most teams playing fast-pace and players with extreme athleticism, it seems like the best players on the good teams are very good from 3 but that's just a part of their game. Most are all-round players who can drive, hit mid-ranges, rebound, play D, etc, etc. Maybe Justin can find a spot where he can make some noise but I don't see that one dimensional specialists can get much PT on the big stage other than spot duty.
