- SPORTS MOMENT: Watching the Bengals and Reds in the late 80's and early 90's as an 8-12 year old. I had it good back then: no care in he world and good teams seemed like a given. Whoops..... those were the days.....

Didn't he play again vs. Iowa? If so, you were wrong.
Hopefully this helps Egbuka and Harrison, Jr. over the long term with JSN out. Unfortunately, hard to count on Fleming being a consistent part of the offense.
Just excellent.
Good point. I guess I expected more specifically from this TV deal they just struck.
It looks like Big 10 Network money and FS1 may not be included in this amount? Not sure how much more those two would produce, but I agree it does not seem that each team is getting $100 million/year.
BOOM!
Bigger than a single recruiting win no doubt.
This if pretty funny and ironic because you specifically said, "I know without a doubt that we did."
I am pretty sure this is just an opinion at this point because there is no evidence or empirical evidence to support your hypothesis that OSU without a doubt has gotten better. I tend to agree with you that the offense will be just as good and the defense will vastly improve, but can't say we have seen anything to prove that at this point.
I think streaming platforms like Amazon work when there is only one game (i.e., Thursday or Monday night NFL football). I think they will have a tough time on a typical Saturday of college football. I imagine having to switch from your main "cable" provider (including YouTube TV, Hulu Live, etc.) to Amazon or Apple to check on one game will vastly limit viewership.
Wait.... you're telling me this is all.about money? Come on, all the ADs have been talking about aligned values and academics. I am supposed to believe this is about money?
You would find out in the playoffs.
I say get to 26. Hear me out.
Heard today on the radio that if eight teams leave the ACC, they are no longer subject to buy out because the conference would be considered dissolved. Take UNC, Duke, Clemson, Miami, FSU, GT, VT and UVA. Then get ND and Oregon.
Two divisions with 13 teams each; play all 12 teams within the division for the regular season and the winners of the divisions play for the conference title. You could even rotate teams between the two divisions annually but maintain rivalries each year (UM and OSU always remain same division for example).
Then no out of conference cupcakes and the winner of the conference would be guaranteed a playoff spot.
Thoughts?
Agreed. That is why I questioned his strategy on D. He will have to figure that out to get USC fully back.
Alabama was not all that relevant nationally until Saban got there. One coach can turn a historical powerhouse around pretty quick. I know it is not a given but Riley seems like he has no problem recruiting but will have to get the D figured out. Nor sure about that strategy but the offense should have no issues considering the talent in his backyard.
UCLA coming in to the conference probably really pissed UM off. They will now not be the highest ranked public university in the conference, let alone not being the best (previously second to Northwestern), at least per US News which seems to be what everyone uses for rankings: https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities/top-public.
Shit, sounds like I need to get out to Oregon more often.
I think USC definitely is worth $100MM for networks. UCLA would likely be worth an extra $50MM, so that puts it in the $75MM range. Math would still check out on the cut per school.
From what I understand, each PAC-12 team is making about $20MM a year from their TV deal. Each Big 10 team is over $50MM on the current deal. It is estimated that will increase to the $70-80MM range for the new deal coming up. That more than makes up the increased travel costs for all sports.
I am sure there are many people who have similar feelings about Ohio but would love to have Ohio State join their conference.
I feel sorry for the social media person that had to make this post advertising season tickets. What a joke.
Texas isn't joining the SEC until 2025. If Ewers is still at Texas in 2025, something has gone really wrong for him.
Has he been involved in recruiting other positions in the past like some of the other coaches? Maybe he can help with the O-Line now since his job, beyond making sure at least three of these guys stick for 2023, is over for this cycle.
Except Northwestern and Stanford walk the walk with those standards. ND, as well as Michigan, claim to have higher academic standards for football players, but we all know it is just talk. ND is basically offering every player OSU, Alabama, Georgia, etc. offer. We all know if they committed to ND, they would all be accepted.
I have always been told the liberals were the sensitive snowflakes.....
