stupid mistake by me - family issue for ice, not injured. but point stands.
the good thad matta teams don't even likely offer key. or frankly anyone else on this team other than the freshmen.
i'd be more upset about it if literally anyone on the team other than mcneil sometimes behind the 3-point line could make anything reliably ever.
could have had roddy gayle ready to be a good second option if holt would have let him play through his yips early in the season...he is clearly the 2nd most talented kid on this team. but, can't let a promising freshman's minutes come at the expense of someone with far less talent that won't be here in a year. if likekele wouldn't have gotten injured, would sensabaugh even be a (semi-) starter? you'd think holtmann would have learned from the dj carton saga that you've gotta give the keys to the most talented guys early, live with the mistakes during non-con, and then be peaking at the end. now i think he'll never figure it out.
lamar is sitting a playoff game because his knee is unstable. as he ages and gets more wear and tear, it will just get worse. i fear that fields will turn out the same way (although it seems like he's been a little better at avoiding the dangerous hits than lamar). the only way i'm involving a 1st round pick in a deal with lamar/fields is if i'm the one receiving the pick...
it was known enough for him to allow his kid to keep playing in the SEC while he tried to make everyone else's kids sit out in the b1g...
leaders show their true colors in crisis. he failed utterly in a crisis.
i don't see why this is controversial to folks...if you look at plus/minus, the freshmen wings need to be on the floor. against unc, in a 5 point loss, gayle was +11 in 21 minutes. brice was +7 in 33 minutes. who do you take off the floor to find PT for likekele AND brown? defense is great but if guys can't hit the side of a barn, they can't be in the game.
just bring back nuge to kick
a RB with dobbins' wiggle/strength/vision and treveyon's top speed would be impossible to play against
they were ABSOLUTELY better than ohio state the last two seasons. they were/are NOT (even close to) more talented. the two are not the same. that is what is unacceptable.
i would understand if michigan were better than ohio state, i really would. but getting killed two years in a row with the far more talented team shows that something is for sure missing, and usually when a worse team beats a better team, it's because of leadership.
sensabaugh was +13 in that game. the next best buckeye was key at +4. we won the game by 1. if everyone is healthy and he plays his normal 18-20 minutes (which is just insane for the best player on the team), we almost definitely lose. hopefully this is a springing-off point for holtmann actually trusting him; i want to believe he was out there because holtmann trusts him and realizes he HAS to play 30+ minutes for us to be successful, not because likekele was out.
the plays downfield are there. the quarterback needs to stop dumping it off to running backs unless receivers are open by 5 yards. you have the best receiver in the game - throw it up to him!
you mean playing upperclassmen, just because they're older, when someone behind them is far better, is a bad idea? i can't believe any ohio state coach would do that. sure glad we don't have any now that do that exact thing!
the coach will continue to say that he's "progressing" and "we'll see"
and then when the kid plays at 75% and doesn't look good, he will unfortunately ultimately be the one that gets skewered. they might think they are doing the kids favors by not being straightforward with this stuff, but they are really doing the opposite. trey's foot is bad. he should not be playing, but he is a gamer.
point taken. he was also a far superior runner
peyton manning was great in meaningless games and mostly disappeared in the ones that mattered...actually sounds like a match made in heaven
....lol ice and mcneil have been here for three games and sueing has been absent for two years, take off the homer glasses! none have proven anything here at this point...
he is BY FAR the best player on this team. and he plays half or less of the available minutes...
agreed - but i hope we get hammered with our best players on the floor. i'm ok with it if it's a learning experience for the young guys....but they need to play. a lot. yeah they've won these first few games but it's been enough for me to see that this team is going nowhere meaningful if the older guys dominate the minutes.
he was awful yesterday. juggling passes, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, and despite that seemed content to stay on the perimeter until finally getting some penetration late. if maui goes poorly, time to turn things largely over to the freshmen to see if we can catch some late-season magic.
two of those two and/or holden should be starters tomorrow. you can't throw four guys on the floor at a time that can't shoot and expect anything different than what happened last night...
