There are plenty of seniors on this team and the ones who should be our veteran leaders have regressed under Holtmann’s watch.

Can’t wait to listen to 97.3 tomorrow morning and listen to Beau Bishop blame the players and refs but not a peep about his buddy Holtmann.

OSU needs to give Holtmann the Lane Kiffin treatment and leave him at the Lincoln airport tarmac.
I don’t believe so. It’s the same reason why Cleveland and Cincinnati get more concert tour stops than Columbus, because the cities are just far enough away that you can split the crowd.
I compare this to cheering for a tanking football team but instead hoping for the coach to be canned. I’m worried about keeping the recruiting class intact but what good is it if we’re stuck in this purgatory for years to come?
This same thing happened against Nebraska last year and he received an extension. Makes no sense.
It’ll be interesting to see if there is a large drop in attendance if this continues. Holtmann will have to go hand out free meal coupons at Cane’s again to try and get butts in seats.
I used to closely follow OSU basketball but my interest started to fade after last year’s loss to Nebraska. I was at the game and it was eerily similar to this evening — a dreary midweek game that lacked energy from both the team and fans. I, for the life of me, have no clue as to why Holtmann was extended this off-season. Maybe it was to preserve this year’s recruiting class but this same script plays out year after year with the exact same results!
Can’t wait to listen to 97.1 tomorrow where Beau Bishop blames the players but gives Holtmann a pass because he gave his kids a tour of the facilities.
My prime wrestling viewing was during WWE’s “Attitude Era”. Some memorable moments include Stone Cold dousing Vince with beer straight from the truck (impressive PSI), King of the Ring, and the oddity of Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie. I was at an event where Charlie was under the ring and arrived by cutting through the canvas. I was always excited for Mondays because I got to watch Raw later that evening and I yearn for that youthful excitement at the beginning of each week.
It was a cocky Holtmann quote after the Texas Tech win! I’m being sarcastic!
“Haters, gotta love ‘em”
Don’t forget Kye Stokes tore up the spring game.
That’s a great point about freshmen being being overlooked because their sandwiched between current stars and recruits. I occasionally scroll through the roster to remind myself that we have plenty of talent waiting on the wings such as Kye Stokes and Caden Curry.
I think Burke will come back down to earth after a somewhat disappointing sophomore season. Also excited to see Sonny Styles take on a larger role. I’m hoping for less defensive line rotation. Not sure why some guys disappeared for periods of time but would like to see Mike Hall and Tyleik Williams get a majority of the snaps.
I'm actually pretty optimistic heading into next year. As others have mentioned, I'll never be worried too much about a new QB as long as Day is the coach. My main concerns are with offensive line and cornerback. We should have a few key pieces returning at OL but we will need a mixture of one or two portal additions as well as the emergence of one of the freshman (Hinzman, Tshabola, or Fitzpatrick) to pop. I believe the defense will be much better and am excited to see Styles, Hicks, Caden Curry, and Kye Stokes to take on larger roles.
I would like to see the team play with a greater sense of urgency instead of letting teams hang around like this year. It's very important for the backup QBs to get plenty of reps and not just handing the ball off. We've seen how quick the QB room can shuffle when someone goes down.
At the end of the day, with all of the injuries and deficiencies, this team still should've beaten Georgia and would be a 7+ point favorite on Monday. I was a downer most of the season and after Saturday's game but I'm choosing to see the silver lining here and think we have a lot to be excited about.
Is Fleming even a good recruiter?
Is he related to the OSU donors with the same last name? I think their names are displayed on the Southside of the Shoe.
He was insanely fast until he hurt his foot and just wasn’t the same since.
The worst I’ve seen it is last week’s Commanders-NYG game. Terry Mcglaurin motioned to the ref to ensure he was “on the line” and ref gave him the nod of approval. He then threw a flag for illegal formation after Washington had punched in a TD. Washington then throws a few pass to Curtis Samuel who is being bear hugged by the DB, no flag. It was egregious.
I usually only attend Browns games when I have a free Sunday and a friend with a free ticket but the depression of the team really trickles down to the fans. Don’t get me wrong, I love tailgating and getting a nice buzz for decent OSU games but there were many 40+ year old Browns fans passed out in our section before halftime. I always wondered how they make it home and function at work the next day.
I was roommates with a player on the team during the Mike Adams years and players loved Tress because they could show up to practice/training hungover and be able to manage. The players still there when Urban took over hated it because he was far more intense and playing football wasn’t necessarily “fun” anymore, it was all business.
I completely agree. Many of my friends/dorm mates at OSU were from New York, Jersey, Chicago, Pittsburgh, etc. OSU and other Big 10 schools have a huge draw from the east coast. Additionally, kids in my Columbus suburb are started to attend Bama, Ole Miss, etc.
If school administrators think the athletic department is riddled with bloat and excess, then they should take a look at their own departments and see how many useless administrator positions exist. As a state institution, athletics are the only thing about OSU that my blue collar friends and family members can experience which I think is a huge deal from a pride perspective.
Doesn’t the football program basically fund the entire athletic department at OSU?
I would, too. His brother isn’t going to sniff the NFL unless he switches to tight end OR is rapidly developed at his new home. The family would rather have the cash now in case Matayo doesn’t pan out as well.
