His parents missed a big opportunity. Could have named him Justin at the very least.
The illegal access occurred on the dates 12/21-12/23. Those dates exactly align with the NCAA early signing period.
Good. Now OSU can bomb his program back to the 2010s.
Again, NIL is a factor but not the main factor. This is from a sample of top recruits granted anonymity by The Athletic. A common refrain from interviewees is that they’ll make more money in the NFL than in NIL endorsements. They value relationships and want to play at schools that give them the best opportunity to showcase their talents and be drafted.
The states of Alabama, Florida, and Georgia have HS NIL restrictions similar to those in place in Ohio. California and Oregon don’t restrict HS NIL. Oregon has recruited well for years and USC is benefitting from the Lincoln Riley hire as much, if not more, than anything else. Colorado, which can offer NIL to HS athletes, isn’t on top 10 lists for 4* and 5* players because they are offering hefty oncentive packages; kids want to play for Deion Sanders. Even with NIL they had the 47th rated class this year; Illinois was 46th and Northwestern was 48th.
Except they did cite it as a factor, just not the main reason. OSU has the 2nd and a 4th ranked recruiting class since NIL was implemented. The article and survey doesn’t fit the narrative so many fans believe; recruiting rankings also belie that narrative.
The Athletic recently interviewed a group of top recruits and asked them to discuss the factors in selecting a school. Not one ranked NIL as the top factor and only two placed NIL in the top 3. Relationships, the ability of the school to get them to be NFL, academics, scheme, and playing time were all cited as primary factors. Most, if not all, rejected schools that offered the highest NIL.
Cade Stover isn’t a top 5 TE in the NFL draft. He was a very nice weapon in the pass game this year but his blocking abilities were suspect. Very happy he’s returning for the 2023 season to help the Buckeyes and help his draft stock.
Huh? Alabama was the first team left out of the playoffs. SEC bias would have put two of their teams in the playoffs at the expense of OSU. Only one SEC team made the playoffs and they are absolutely destroying TCU. UGA is the nation’s best team and while I think OSU is #2 they’ll probably end up #3 or #4 in the final poll.
It’s like the disclaimers on prescription ads: may cause explosive diarrhea.
Lloyd McFarquhar silently weeps at this development.
I had the exact same feeling watching Eichenberg chase their slot receiver downfield.
FWIW Jack Sawyer was a “can’t miss” prospect and so far he’s done little but miss.
It’s a good thing the scheme puts 3 safeties on the field /s
Unfortunately, that’s been a feature of his play this season.
He has more business doing it than Eichenberg. Why is the MLB tracking their fastest player on a slot post? Tommy held his own but that’s dogshit playcalling.
I almost spit when I saw Sawyer lined up as a stand-up rusher over the UGA left guard. It was a three man front alignment on first down. Whatever Knowles thought that would accomplish didn’t happen as the UGA back ran behind the left guard for a big gain.
Going out the same way he came in: with the Buckeyes and with style.
I had the exact same impression from the two bullet points in the article. He’s intimating that the coaching staff failed the players. Regardless, by week 12 it should be clear to the coaching staff that if the players can’t execute the chosen game plan then that plan must be modified.

There’s only one Fairborn and it’s NE of Dayton.
I lived in Dallas at the time of the storm. Absolutely shit show but at least there was snow.
Pretty much every Nov-Dec in the 90s was as bad and probably worse.
Oregon has some of the best facilities in the NCAA and a supportive, rabid fan base. They’ve also been the consistent powerhouse program on the west coast over the past couple decades. Oregon has recruited CA and WA very well and play a brand of football that’s exciting to watch and play in. Nike and Phil Knight have a definite influence on NIL but they’ve been pulling in top recruits for many years.
Paul Hornung didn’t cover himself in glory, either.
CJ reminds me more of Jared Goff than Dax Prescott.
