Given the final result of the last 2 seasons, not much.

Okay, I'll be the contrarion (while agreeing that being a Buckeye Football fan is awesome). Football is not only won with a passing game, especially in college. Bob Stoops and Lincoln Riley with that. I'm 100% here for a high-flying passing game, but we have to be able to run the ball as a balance. OSU has never hoisted a NC trophy with only an aerial assault, and I doubt we ever will. A true Golden Age would have a few CFP Championships sprinkled in, but so far having a stable of the best receivers on the planet haven't achieved that.

I love the recruiting possibilities! One reason it hurt so badly when Fickell left was because NO ONE loved OSU more than he does, and it has shown in recruiting. It's another reason someone should have reached out to Laurinitis before he jumped on board with his best friend. I think Hartline could recruit any position he wants.

I keep seeing people say Gene should/will be B1G Commish, but I don't understand why. I've never heard rumors that he wanted it, and we as Buckeyes should not want him to go. If you like the job Gene has done, why would you want him to leave? If you don't and are still stuck on Tat Gate, please move on from it. AND if you don't like him, the devil you know is often times better than the devil you don't. We have no idea who might replace him.

LOL there is nothing diverse about professional football or basketball, and I'm completely fine with that. Efforts to increase diversity in any setting were to give opportunity to those who were denied it based on race or ethnicity. Unintentionally, this made more workplaces "look" like the general public. If that were the case in professional sports, 75% of the players would be white, and I'm not sure that's what's best for the final product.

In regards to the NC, that's why I said "very well could have". It's not a certainty. I don't remember too many specifics from the Oregon game. A quick glance at the game stats shows a ton of yards, but only 28 points with a couple of stalled drives. I do specifically remember feeling CJ could have extended drives a couple of times with a short run. But yes, the defense  was atrocious that day.

Stroud will carry the 0-2 legacy more than any guy you mentioned because he is the QB. Had he been 2-0, he would get all of the credit. QBs get too much credit AND blame for team performance, especially since football is the ultimate team sport.

Stroud was great for the Buckeyes, maybe the best, for all of the reasons Ramzy laid out. And yes, his arm was a much greater assett than his legs as far as his own personal accomplishments and the accomplishments of the team. But in a more scientific look than Ramzy's article, I'd be curious to know how many times he could have run for 5-7 yards without a whiff of being hit by a defender, as opposed to forcing an incompletion or simply throwing it away. And then how many times we had to punt a couple of plays later because of 2nd/3rd and long situations. Again, CJ was GREAT for the Buckeyes and will always have my respect, but his (or his coach's) refusal to pick up the easy yards very well could have cost CJ a Heisman, and the Buckeyes a National Championship.

Chicago isn't going to do anything intelligent with that first pick. They SHOULD trade down a few spots to a team that needs a QB, then get PJJ with the 6th or 7th pick. But they'll probably draft Will Anderson #1 overall and leave Fields to get bludgeoned for another season.

Selfishly, I was hoping he'd come back to help out a new starting QB, but I knew that would never happen. He's earned this opportunity and I wish him nothing but the best in the League!

Exactly. The NFL decided that the Bengals would have to coin flip with the Ravens for home field advantage. Fine. So if the Bengals play the Bills in the second round, do they coin flip that also? They have made no such concession. Granted, there are a few things that would have to play out for that to be relevant, but it just seems that the League has looked at this situation only through the eyes of the Buffalo Bills, when in reality, the Bengals had way more to lose by not playing that Monday night game.

Comment 07 Jan 2023

Yes they did lose, because if they would have beaten the Bills it wouldn't matter what happens this weekend. That's as good as a loss.

Comment 07 Jan 2023

Nope, not even close. If they wanted to change the rules (not using winning percentage), then they should have declared the Bengals the winner since they had the lead at the time the game stopped.

The biggest benefit of this whole TV deal is having less Chris Fowler in my life.

They get screwed out of being possibly the #1 seed. If KC loses this weekend (unlikely, Raiders) and had the Bengals won out, they would have been the 1. I think if KC loses this weekend they might still play the Cincy-Buffalo game and push everything back a week (except, of course, the Super Bowl).
