It was the most inspirational loss of my lifetime.

Honestly, ever since I went to that Oregon game at the Horseshoe where they got pushed around, it seemed like this program was falling off, becoming soft, no chance to really compete for a title.  Then there was Alabama, then two Michigan games.  People saying fire Day, disaster, wheels fell off, etc.

The wheels are on and this thing is right on the brink of rolling everybody over.

My spirits are as high as they've been about OSU football in about 3 years.

They probably still give him until the end of the year.  If they keep on like this, it will be so bad they won't have a choice.  I hope somehow they decide to play and turn it around, but sure haven't seen it yet.

Still not as embarrassing as losing to TCU.

It almost feels like nobody won the big rivalry this year.  Michigan won The Game, but lost to something resembling a MAC team in a bowl game.  OSU lost The Game, but was 1 point away from a ring.

Lost to TCU.  It's a hell of an adjustment for me to this new era of football where The Game counts about as much as the 2007 Illibuck Trophy.

Rallied back from a home field embarrassment loss to Michigan to come within 1 point of a national championship.

That's how I'll remember him and this team.  Believe it or not, they did restore my hope in the program.  After Alabama, Oregon, now twice Michigan, it looked like they may be falling away from contention.

Now they're right back in contention.  Stroud hands over Corvette keys to McCord to bring this thing home.

That could count, but it's very unlikely.

The players eventually get so tired of being terrible that they wake up and win a few to save some face for everybody.  Face will likely be saved.

Over the long haul, Ohio State will always be around.

These other teams have come and gone up near the top during my life of watching this stuff.  When I was a kid, you had Nebraska, Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State.  They're long gone now.

Clemson wasn't any good back then at all.  Alabama was about .500 for a while.  USC fell back off.

During it all, except for maybe 2 years, Ohio State has been in the hunt and they still are.

Not only that, but you can make the case that OSU is the only northern team left that's a real contender year in year out.

Them losing to TCU showed how big of a fluke it was and how big an egg OSU must have laid to lose to them at home.

Better off waiting to try to poach a good Cinderella coach in March from some school we won't know anything about until they beat Kentucky in the tournament.

Probably just mad that they almost lost to a non-SEC team.

People all around the South are very upset that Ohio State didn't just fall over and be TCU.

LOL, Doltmann

Spit out my imaginary coffee on that one.

It was bad last night, that's all I can say.  Bad enough that I was relieved it was over so I could watch somebody else actually play basketball.
