The Holtmann era is done!
As a child, I witnessed the Earle Bruce era and my teen/young adult years included the John Cooper era. When Tressel became our head coach he emphasized this as the game to win every single year. He said November is the month for the drive toward a Big Ten championship. Urban continued that emphasis but lost some headscratchers before the rivalry game. With Ryan Day, it feels the same as it did during the 90s with John Cooper. You will all the big games, except the biggest one at the end of Nov. I'm not sure I have any trust in Ryan Day anymore as our head coach. Just like Cooper, he too did not grow up in the buckeye state and understand the rivalry like Tressel or Meyer during their coaching tenure.
In Tressel, We Trust. In Ryan Day, We're Doomed.
Coach Day is tapping into his inner John Cooper.
OSU is just laying down right now.
This team just lacks mental focus and toughness.
CB coach, Tim Walton needs to be let go after the season.
It looks like OSU dusted off their game plan from the Northwestern game a couple of weeks ago.
Stroud can't handle messy playing conditions. If any of the remaining games have poor playing conditions, this team will absolutely wilt down the stretch. This putrid output on offense reminds me of last year's game against scUM.
Here are the additional Power Five realignment additions I foresee in the near future:
Big Ten: Add Notre Dame, Stanford, Oregon, and Washington (20 total)
SEC: Add Clemson, Florida State, Miami, and Virginia Tech (or West Virginia??) (20 total)
PAC-12 and Big-12 will merge with the remaining members and add Boise State to form a new conference (20 total)
ACC: Not sure what will happen here if 1/3 of the members defect elsewhere.
So Marcus thinks his school's online programs are bogus too?

As someone who has an M.S. degree in Education, Learning Design, and Development I find his comments to be ignorant and insulting. Stay in your damn lane, Marcus!
According to Gene Smith, Holtman is golden. There is no way he will ever be fired as long as Gene Smith is around.
“I am really happy with where we are,” the AD said of the OSU men’s basketball program. “We strive for championships, there's no question about that, and we need to get there, and we will. But you look at his recruiting, it's off the chain. And you look at -- I just love the teaching he does."

I remember when Coombs was an assistant coach for the Titans and I watched a few of their games on TV. None of their defenders would turn and look for the ball either. Most fans were excited when Coombs was announced as the new OSU defensive coordinator. I knew that poor technique would be implemented in the OSU secondary as soon as he became the coordinator.
Just like the ESPN GameDay commentators said, OSU has no point guard play. I could see this team struggling to even get an NCAA Tournament bid this March. I'm not sure how much longer Holtmann should coach beyond this season.
This team will not win out. They will lose to Purdue or Michigan St. at home. I don't want to see this team embarrass themselves in the playoffs against Georgia or Bama.
It looks like Ryan Day has been consulting with Jim Bollman on offensive schemes the past couple of weeks.
I hate to be a Danny Downer here, but the only thing that could slow down the buckeyes high-octane offense would be a cold, windy, rainy game in Nov.
If Maryland would have beat Iowa this past Friday and OSU narrowly escaped with a win at Rutgers, I would have been very concerned about this game on Sat. However, I'm not that concerned especially if OSU keeps improving each week and Maryland keeps turning over the ball. My initial prediction, OSU 48 - Maryland 21.
I sure hope OSU never regresses to this level of play:
Just because you're a subject matter expert (in this case a position coach on defense) doesn't mean you automatically know how to lead others as a defensive coordinator. You have to be both cerebral in game planning and strategy (missing ingredient here) and relate to college players to be a successful defensive coordinator. You can look to past examples in Luke Fickell, Chris Ash, and Jeff Hafley as successful OSU defensive coordinators who had those innate coaching traits. I'm afraid Kerry Coombs is another victim of the Peter Principle - "the principle that members of a hierarchy are promoted until they reach the level at which they are no longer competent."
Iowa defensive coordinator, Phil Parker or a proven position coach from the Georgia/Alabama defense who is not married to a particular scheme.
