There isn’t one thing they do well right now. They act as if they have never seen a press. The amount of layups this team leaves at the rim is astonishing. Defensively they get lost and trap the post from the same side wing constantly leaving an easy pass out for 3. Ohio State is gonna get most teams best shot and outside of Sensabaugh no one has a pulse out there.

Play the young guys. Live with their mistakes but invest playing time with guys who have eligibility beyond this year. Gayle, Okpara, and Holden are due for more minutes and Ice/Sueing/McNeil need some more bench time.

Early season thoughts. Okpara has loads of potential. Ice has almost no offensive game. Thornton doing a good job of running the offense. Holden has to be more aggressive. Sensabaugh has been sensational.

Lot to like here for Ohio State. Fits a need for our current team build. Experienced player with success at the high D1 level. Plus a year to practice, learn the system and integrate within our current team dynamic. Not much to dislike about the production of a transfer with a 14.1/5.7/1.7 line.

Could be interesting to see how the CJ Walker transfer helps us this year, may lead to seeking more 1 year sit-out transfers in order to balance classes.

Any news about who else Justice may be considering?

Werner undersized but is forcing fumbles at hitting guys at the point of attack. Harrison misplayed his keys about 5 times today leading to big plays. This game is totally different is we lined up right with gap integrity.

I see your point but Werner far from the issue and merely a symptom of the disease (LB coaching). See ball get ball.

Carton and Gaffney would have to play like one and done players as true freshman to put OSU in the final four stratosphere. LeDee and Liddell will have to develop as good depth behind Wesson. Muhammad and Washington will have to be 3 point sharpshooters. That’s a final four dynamic. Inside and outside game, experience, depth and talent.

To play devils advocate weren’t many of the top 10 talents guys getting paid by the AAU circuit sponsors to go to school anyway?

Wouldn’t a better play be to go to college for 9 months for “free” and build brands much like Duke, Kentucky and Kansas freshman do through the year and tournament. Will these players get the same exposure skipping 1 year of of college to go to the G-league?

Ohio State is likely still in the same (good) position.

The way an Ohio State team gets to a final four is recruiting high level players that stay multiple years to create teams with depth, team chemistry and experience. The idea is to be a perennial contender for the big ten title with every few years making a final four run with the Kansas teams, Dukes and Kentuckys.

If Holtmann can get the occasional one and done type talent with an experience laden team there is no reason we can't be one of the best teams in the country at the end of the year.

Loved seeing Muhammad and Washington come up big in moments as freshman.

For whatever reason the refs missed every out of bounds call on the one end of the floor. Just a complete guess on who fouls were on or who the ball went off.

If we can get outside timely shooting from A. Wesson, Jackson, Muhammad and Washington we will finish near top of Big Ten.

This basketball season will be really interesting especially the development of the freshman guards and which sophomores break out.

Will Andre Wesson find some offense and which CJ will we get?

What is Kaleb Wesson’s ceiling and will Micah put it together for two big line ups with complimentary skill sets?

Holtmann has my trust especially for guard play. Eager to see how this team builds on last year and sets the foundation for years to come

He chucked up a few balls that his WRS tracked and hauled in. He also had some really nice throws. I thought we would see him take off and scramble more but I guess you don’t have to when you are getting pretty much everything you want offensively. TCU will definitely challenge for Big 12 title. Solid team with a lot of speed.

Josh Proctor has lost his black stripe. I think the coaching staff is going to look to insert him into the secondary ASAP. Wade certainly looks the part. Arnette got some questionable calls - still needs to find the ball quicker to avoid a lot of that.

Miss Kerry Coombs.

With Jordan Fuller on the back end I feel much better about the Buckeye defense. I think Tuf Borland gets the most action he's had all year to stabilize the middle. TCU has some good talent with a true DT QB. I think it will be closer than expected. Buckeyes by 10.

Patterson realizes the importance of this game as well and will have some interesting defensive schemes set for OSU as well as TE releases that force our LBs to come up and play run and sneak a TE/HB behind them.

Unexpected player of the game - Offensively - Austin Mack  Defensive - Damon Arnette ST - Amir Riep - kick/punt coverage

Any news on Joe Girard? Saw he was averaging about 50 ppg this past season and now Duke is involved. Would love to get a combo PG that can score the ball that well. Sounds like a great fit for the way Holtmann's offense works.

Price made a ton of head scratching moves. When he took the job he said he was going to embrace new philosophies and not maintain outdated ways of thinking. Instead he chose to hit two of the worst OBP/OPS batters in the HISTORY (Hamilton/Peraza/any of the other multitude of 'fast guys') of baseball 1 and 2 in front of one of the best historically in Votto. Naming your best reliever your closer and only saving him for save situations instead of high leverage innings or for more than 3 outs at a time. Continually throwing lighter fluid like Kevin Gregg, Quakenbush, JJ Hoover, Gallardo, etc in high pressure situations instead of mop up duty. Gosselin and Pennington over Blandino. Duvall/Schebler over Winker. The Reds have been riddled with injuries the past few years and management is poor on many things. They consistently play with a short bench then retroactively send a guy to the DL. Just mind-numbing.

Just because he didn't have a lot to work with doesn't excuse much of this. Instead of attempting new ideas he conformed to old norms. Instead of helping with the rebuild by developing young players/pitchers he deferred to the AAAA veterans. Being a manager is more than just a line-up card. Its is maximizing the potential of the team. Price is 3-15 this year.

Love the Reds. The draft has been great the last few years for the Reds. We will see how this team looks in July when Senzel, Suarez, Votto,  and Winker play everyday and hopefully DeScalfani, Homer, Finnegan, Lorenzen all get and remain healthy for a period of time.

What players in Ohio could play/perform well enough to earn offers from OSU/Major D1 with good camp/combine circuits? What current OSU targets or commits do you expect to make the Opening?

Comment 09 Apr 2018

Probably even more magnified at Ohio State where excellent linebacker play is the expectation. Just consider our rich history of players at the position. Fickell did a great job setting the standard and Bill Davis had a awfully tough job maintaining that. I think LB could be a strength given the young depth (Jones, Werner, Browning), a 5* talent hungry to prove himself in his last year (Hilliard) , and some veteran guys returning (Booker, Borland, Harrison). Good mixture with balanced skill sets.
